연계선로가 없는 배전선로에서 BESS기반 정전복구를 위한 토폴로지 재구성 방안 (A Network Reconfiguration Method for BESS based Service Restoration in Distribution Systems)

  • Outage areas can be transferred to adjacent feeders to restore power supply in case of the fault on the distribution system. Feeders in the small island or mountain area may not have backup feeders due to the low density of load. In this weakly meshed open loop system, BESS can be used as a backup feeder to improve reliability of power supply. This paper proposes a new network reconfiguration method for BESS based service restoration. Fuzzy decision making technique is adopted to deal with fuzziness of service restoration planning rules. Case studies using KEPCO real distribution system have been performed to verify feasibility of the proposed method.

  • The government established the 8th national energy plan that electricity energy from renewables in 2030 will be 20%. The frequency stability problem is one of the key issues to overcome for accomplishing the energy plan. Frequency quality deteriorates due to short term variations of renewables output. Battery energy storage system(BESS) is considered as a good alternative to improve the frequency quality due to its quick response. In this paper, we examined the effectiveness of BESS against the conventional governor properties.

  • This paper addresses on a wind power system with BESS(Battery Energy Storage System). The concerned system consists of four parts: the wind speed production model, the wind turbine model, configure capacity of the battery energy storage, battery model and control of the BESS. First of all, we produce wind speed by 4-component composite wind speed model. Secondly, the maximum available wind power is determined by analyzing the produced wind speed and the characteristic curve of wind power. Thirdly, we configure capacity of the BESS according to wind speed and characteristic curve of wind speed-power. Then, we propose a control strategy to track the power reference. Finally, some simulations have been demonstrated to visualize the feasibility of the proposed methodology.

Production of Acetate from Carbon Dioxide in Bioelectrochemical Systems Based on Autotrophic Mixed Culture

  • Bioelectrochemical systems (BESs) have been suggested as a new technology for wastewater treatment while accomplishing energy and chemical generation. This study describes the performance of BESs based on mixed culture that are capable of reducing carbon dioxide to acetate. The cathode potential was a critical factor that affected the performance of the BESs. The rate of acetate production increased as the electrode potential became more negative, from 0.38 mM $d^{-1}$ (-900 mV vs. Ag/AgCl) to 2.35 mM $d^{-1}$ (-1,100 mV), while the electron recovery efficiency of carbon dioxide reduction to acetate increased from 53.6% to 89.5%. The microbial population was dominated by relatives of Acetobacterium woodii when a methanogenic inhibitor was added to the BESs initially.

  • Energy Storage Systems (ESSs) are essential in the future power systems because they can improve power usage efficiency. In this paper, we propose the countermeasure for improving the power quality using coordinated control of BESS(Battery Energy Storage System) on EV connected system. To verify the performance of proposed scheme, we simulate on the actual power system of KEPCO and compare the results of voltage variation, frequency variation, and load factor with those of uncoordinated control. From the simulation results, we confirm that frequency and voltage deviation are significantly reduced with proposed coordinated control of BESS.

  • This paper deals with the real and reactive power control of BESS(Battery Energy H Storage System) interconnected to power system. The real and reactive power control of proposed customer side BESS are performed by controlling the amplitude and the phase of inverter output voltage via power flow equation. Also in order to control the amplitude and phase of output voltage of proposed BESS, single-pulse width control method is used. The BESS and controller is implemented and the active and reactive power control is simulated by using the PSCAD/EMTDC simulation program.

Optimized Installation and Operations of Battery Energy Storage System and Electric Double Layer Capacitor Modules for Renewable Energy Based Intermittent Generation

  • In this paper, a novel approach for optimized installation and operations of battery energy storage system (BESS) and electric double layer capacitor (EDLC) modules for the renewable energy based intermittent generation is presented for them to be connected with an electric power grid. In order to make use of not merely the high energy density of battery but also the high power density of EDLC modules, it is very useful to devise the hybrid system which combines BESS and EDLC modules. The proposed method adopts the linear programming to calculate the optimized capacity as well as the quadratic programming to transmit the optimal operational signals to BESS and EDLC modules. The efficiency of this methodology will be demonstrated in the experimental study with the real data of wind speed in Texas.

  • 최근 신재생 에너지원의 증가와 더불어 전력 산업 전반의 요구에 대해 에너지 저장시스템(ESS, Energy Storage System)에 대한 필요성이 높아지고 있다. 전력 수요의 급격한 증가는 전력계통의 교란이 증가하게 되어 전력품질의 문제를 야기 시키고, 이에 따라 송배전 설비의 증설에 교구 커지고 있는 상황이다. 이에 대한 적절한 대안으로 배터리를 이용한 에너지 저장 시스템(BESS, Battery Energy Storage System)이 대두되고 있는 상황이며, 특히 계통연계형 PCS에 BESS를 적용시킬시에 능동적인 부하 평준화 기능을 통해 송배전 설비투자 지연의 목적을 달성할 수 있는 장점을 가진다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 BESS기능을 겸비한 PCS 시스템 구성을 제안하고, 이에 대하여 기술한다.

  • This paper shows a reasonable demand power, that was made by the systematic and statistical way considering actual conditions, such as investigated transformer capacity and peak power for the last 6 years of subway substation customer as to AMR. In this dissertation, it is necessary to analyze the key features and general trend from the investigated data. It made an analysis of the feature parameters, such as average, standard deviation, median, maximum, minimum and thus it was carried by the linear and nonlinear regression analysis. And we studied on the application of a BESS. Analysis showed that the revulsion of capital is about 3 years and 4 months.

  • 본 논문은 독립형 마이크로그리드에서 BESS-디젤발전기 연계운전 시, 동기 인덕턴스와 LCL 필터의 상호간섭을 고려한 CVCF 제어기를 설계하고 해석하였다. CVCF 제어의 외부루프는 비례-공진(PR)을 이용한 기본파 전압제어이고, 내부루프는 제어 안정도 향상을 위한 커패시터 전류제어로 구성된 이중 루프 구조이다. 인버터 $1.5T_s$ 시지연을 고려하여 모델링을 설계하고, 이산시간 영역에서의 근궤적 기법을 통해 CVCF 제어의 안정도를 해석하였다. 50kW BESS-디젤발전기로 구성된 시뮬레이션을 통해 안정도 해석과 동일한 결과를 도출함으로써 설계된 CVCF 제어기를 검증하였다.
