In order to understand the fluctuation characteristics of water temperature in August, water temperature, tide level, air temperature and wind data were analyzed using a power spectrum and coherence analysis for a region off the southern coast of Korea. Spectrum analysis showed that the water temperature and tide level in Wando, Goheung, Yeosu, Tongyeong and Masan have peaks over a semi-diurnal period. Coherence showed that water temperature was affected by tide in Wando, Goheung, Yeosu and Tongyeong where tidal range is relatively high. In Masan and Busan, where tidal range is relatively low, however, the tide did not affect water temperature significantly. In particular, wind was the most important factor in relation to water temperature in Masan. Time lags were calculated from phase. In Wando, water temperature decreased 1.5 hrs after a flood tide began. Water temperature decreased 0.3 hrs after a flood tide began in Goheung and Tongyeong. In Masan, water temperature increased 3 hrs after a south wind began. Water temperature in Yeosu was affected by tide, but air temperature, tide and wind in Busan affected water temperature very little.

Gwon Geuk-jung wrote Juyeokchamdonggyejuhae(hereinafter Juhae) and established his Internal Alchemy(Nae-dan) Theory systematically in the former half of the 17th century. In its annotations, there are many quotes about Taoist books and figures, which leads to an estimation that the Chinese Taoist ideology must have exercised its influences on the formation of his Internal Alchemy Theory. It is thus needed to compare it with the Chinese Taoist ideology to have a clear picture of its characteristics and significance. The first step of the comparative research involved the estimation of Taoist books that Gown must have consulted and the examination of circumstances around Taoist books circulated in Joseon through the quotes in his Juhae, which were categorized into the ones that began with a book title, those that began with a name, and those that began in "In an old poem." They were compared with those of Dojang, and the results show that Gwon must have consulted various annotation books of Chamdonggye including Chamdonggyebalhui and various Taoist books including Gyujungjinam and Geumdandaeyo. The investigator then looked into Taoist books circulated in Joseon at the time when Gwon wrote Juhae and found a circumstance of circulation of annotation books of Chamdonggye by three families including Yu Yeom and collections of Taoist books including Doseojeonjip and Sujinshipseo. They were then compared with the Taoist books in the quotes of the author, and the results show that most of his quotes contained the Taoist books of Doseojeonjip. That is, the specific circumstances of books circulated in the former half of Joseon were clearly revealed in the quotes of Juhae. Of the Taoist books found in his quotes, Jin Chi-heo was most quoted, being followed by Jang Baek-dan, Seol Do-gwang, Jin Nam, Baek Ok-seom, and So Jeong-ji. It thus seems that Gwon was under the huge influence of Internal Alchemy Theory of Jin Chi-heo and Nam Jong.

The egg development and early life history of short barbel gudgeon Squalidus japonicus coreanus were investigated. For the experiments, the mature adults were collected at the stream Jicheon in Korea. The eggs from the females were obtain by injecting 10 IU/g of human chorionic gonadotropin and inseminated by wet method in the laboratory. The fertilized eggs were 1.12±0.03 mm (1.10~1.16 mm, n=30) in diameter. The embryo began to hatch about 49 hrs after fertilization under water temperature of 23±1℃. The newly-hatched larvae (Yolksac larva) were 3.7±0.1 mm (3.4~3.8 mm, n=16) in total length, and they haven't Melanophore. 5 days after hatching, the Preflexion larva were 5.3±0.2 mm (5.0~5.5 mm, n=16) in total length, and they began to eat a Rotifer. 19 days after hathing, the Flexion larva were 6.0±0.3 mm (5.4~6.5 mm, n=16) in total length, and they began to eat a Brine shrimp. 29 days after hatching, the Postflexion larva were 9.6±0.5 mm (8.3~10.5 mm, n=16) in total length, and dorsal fin rays are were formed. 44 days after hatching, the juvenile were 15.5±1.0 mm (13.5~17.0 mm, n=16) in total length, and all their fin-rays were formed.

The egg development and early life history of Sharpbelly Hemiculter leucisculus were investigated. For the experiments, the mature adults were collected at the Lake Yedang in Korea. The eggs from the females were obtained by injecting 10 IU/g of human chorionic gonadotropin and inseminated by wet method in the laboratory. The fertilized eggs were 0.97±0.02 mm (0.9~1.0 mm n=30) in diameter. The embryo began to hatch about 32 hrs after fertilization under water temperature of 22±1℃. The newly-hatched larvae were 3.0±0.2 mm (2.6~3.4 mm, n=15) in total length, and they haven't Melanophore. Six days after hatching, the Preflexion larva were 5.7±0.1 mm (5.4~5.8 mm, n=15) in total length, and they began to eat a Rotifer. 17 days after hatching, the Flexion larva were 6.8±0.2 mm (6.5~7.0 mm, n=15) in total length, and a gas bladder develop above the intestine. 30 days after hatching, the Postflexion larva were 8.8±0.7 mm (7.9~10.3 mm, n=15) in total length, three dorsal fin rays began to develop in the membrane fins. 50 days after hatching, the Juvenile were 20.8±0.8 mm (18.8~24.6 mm, n=15) in total length, and all their fin-rays were formed.

The modernization of najeonchil, or mother-of-pearl lacquerware, began in the latter era of the Joseon period and started to set in during the phase of industrial development after the Korean War. Especially, the rise and fall of najeonchil during the first half of the 1900s fluctuated more compared to other types of craft. This paper focuses on the production, supply and demand activities of the works by Min Jong-tae, who was born in 1915, began his career in 1929 and devoted 70 years of his life creating najeonchil craft and furniture. As an apprentice under Jeon Sung-gyu, who revived the craft of najeonchil, Min Jong-tae was not only an artisan who ranked alongside Kim Bongryong, Song Juan, Shim Bugil, Kim Taehee, but also a businessman. In particular, Min led the boom of modern najeonchilgi during the 1970s-80s in Seoul, which was the most important market at that time. However, studies about Min Jong-tae are almost non-existence, despite his accomplishments. This study first describes how Min Jong-tae began the craft of najeonchil and early days of his career around the liberation period, then retraced his efforts in building a supply and demand system in the 1950s-60s. Moreover, this paper covers not only his creations of large-scale najeonchil furniture in the advent of an era of 'wardrobe culture' in the 1970s-80s, but also his exported pieces to Japan, including incense boxes and tea containers. In conclusion, this research derives the historical significance of Min Jong-tae's role as an artisan of najeonchil- designated as Seoul Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 14 in the field of craft.

It seems that the \"fuzzy boom\" which began with its applications has calmed down and fallen into decay at least in Korea. But many foreign researchers say the research related to fuzzy theory has been only running its right course. In this paper, we discuss the trend and direction of reaserch related to fuzzy theory. The search trend is obtained through the analysis of the papers of the latest 10years papers in the journals of three societies: KFIS, SOFT and IFSA.

In this work, standardization trends related carbon nanotubes and international standardization activities in the ISO/TC229 and IEC/TC113 were introduced. The movement toward development of carbon nanotube standard began in the nanotechnology council under the IEEE in 2005. KATS has also run the carbon nanotube standardization committee to support commercialization of product containing carbon nanotube through standards since 2004. The Korean Standards such as KSD2711, 2712, 2717 were established.

The purpose of this study is to analyze policies on environmental-friendly agriculture(EFA) and find out some implications. As we know well, EFA contributes environmental substantiality by using organic production methods and provides consumers with a secure, safe nutritious food supply. As consumption of environmental-friendly agricultural products increasing, policies on EFA began in the 1990s and it has been generally expanded in Korea. The strategies for sustainable EFA aim to promote harmony among human beings and between humanity and nature require. In addition, support to develop marketing activities, regionalization, and political support must be further developed.

Permafrost study in Mongolia officially began in the end of 1950 years. At the first time our senior researchers concentrated on the regional characteristics of permafrost distribution and on the engineering geocryological problems. At present time we concentrate on permafrost mapping using the GIS, on permafrost monitoring based on the temperature measurement in boreholes, on permafrost phenomena monitoring in same permafrost regions and on engineering geocryological problems.

Virtually every state in US has adopted laws and regulations that mandate the generic substitution of brand-named prescription drugs in order to reduce sky-rocketing drug costs. In the late 1970s, many state governments began to recognize the need of generic substitution and requested Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to consult with this issue. FDA did consult which drugs were interchangeable each other based upon the available scientific and experimental evidences given to the agency along with New Drug Application (NDA) and Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA).
