Vibration analysis of steel fiber reinforced self-compacting concrete beam on elastic foundation

  • In this study, the effect of steel fiber utilization, boundary conditions, different beam cross-section, and length parameter are investigated on the free vibration behavior of fiber reinforced self-compacting concrete beam on elastic foundation. In the analysis of the beam model recommended by Euler-Bernoulli, a method utilizing Stokes transformations and Fourier Sine series were used. For this purpose, in addition to the control beam containing no fiber, three SCC beam elements were prepared by utilization of steel fiber as 0.6% by volume. The time-dependent fresh properties and some mechanical properties of self-compacting concrete mixtures were investigated. In the modelled beam, four different beam specimens produced with 0.6% by volume of steel fiber reinforced and pure (containing no fiber) SCC were analyzed depending on different boundary conditions, different beam cross-sections, and lengths. For this aim, the effect of elasticity of the foundation, cross-sectional dimensions, beam length, boundary conditions, and steel fiber on natural frequency and frequency parameters were investigated. As a result, it was observed that there is a noticeable effect of fiber reinforcement on the dynamic behavior of the modelled beam.

Flattening filter-free beam을 이용한 방사선 치료 기법의 특성 및 환자의 시간적.경제적 유용성 평가 (The evaluation of properties for radiation therapy techniques with flattening filter-free beam and usefulness of time and economy to a patient with the radiation therapy)

  • 목 적 : Flattening filter-free (3F) beam과 flattening filter (2F) beam을 이용한 치료기법에 따른 특성 비교와 환자 측면의 시간적 경제적 유용성을 비교 평가하고자 한다. 대상 및 방법 : Alderson rando phantom의 전산화단층촬영 영상을 획득하여 가상의 전립선을 설정한 후 세기변조 방사선치료, 용적변조 회전방사선치료 그리고 체부정위적 방사선치료에 3F와 2F beam을 각각 적용하여 총 6개의 전산화치료계획을 수립하였다. 선량률은 3F beam을 이용한 치료기법에 1200 MU/min을 설정하였고, 2F beam의 경우 600 MU/min을 적용하였다. 3F와 2F beam을 이용한 치료기법의 특성 비교를 위하여 총 monitor unit (MU)값을 비교하였고 치료시간의 비교를 위하여 beam on time (BOT)과 gantry rotation time (GRT)을 측정하였으며, 3F와 2F beam에 의한 각 치료기법에서 발생되는 광중성자 측정을 위하여 Surveillance And Measurement (SAM) 940을 사용하였다. 또한, 환자의 총 내원기간과 자기부담금을 계산하였다. 결 과 : 총 MU값은 세기변조 방사선치료에서 3F beam을 이용하였을 때 2F beam을 이용한 경우보다 최대 34.0% 증가하였고 BOT, GRT 그리고 광중성자 측정값은 체부정위적 방사선치료에 3F beam을 적용하였을 때 2F beam보다 각각 최대 39.8, 38.6, 48.1% 감소하였다. 환자의 총 내원기간과 자기부담금은 3F와 2F beam의 이용에 따른 차이는 없었으며, 치료기법 중 체부정위적 방사선치료가 10일과 169,560원으로 가장 적게 나타났다. 결 론 : 본 연구 결과, 3F beam의 고 선량률을 이용한 치료기법은 2F beam과 비교하여 총 MU값은 증가하였으나 BOT, GRT 그리고 광중성자 측정값이 모두 감소하였다. 이처럼 3F beam의 고 선량률을 사용하는 치료기법은 intra-fraction setup error 및 2차 방사선 유발암 발생률을 줄이는 효과를 기대할 수 있으나, 동일한 치료기법 내에서 3F와 2F beam 사용에 따른 환자에게 특별한 시간적 경제적인 이점은 없었다.

Evaluation of the effect of mechanical deformation on beam isocenter properties of the SC200 scanning beam delivery system

  • For proton pencil beam scanning (PBS) technology, the accuracy of the dose distribution in a patient is sensitive to the properties of the incident beam. However, mechanical deformation of the proton therapy facility may occur, and this could be an important factor affecting the proton dose distribution in patients. In this paper, we investigated the effect of deformation on an SC200 proton facility's beam isocenter properties. First, mechanical deformation of the PBS nozzle, L-shape plate, and gantry were simulated using a Finite Element code, ANSYS. Then, the impact of the mechanical deformation on the beam's isocenter properties was evaluated using empirical formulas. In addition, we considered the simplest case that could affect the properties of the incident beam (i.e. if only the bending magnet (BG3) has an error in its mounting alignment), and the effect of the beam optics offset on the isocenter characteristics was evaluated. The results showed that the deformation of the beam position in the X and Y direction was less than 0.27 mm, which meets the structural design requirements. Compared to the mechanical deformation of the L-shape plate, the deformation of the gantry had more influence on the beam's isocenter properties. When the error in the mounting alignment of the BG3 is equal to or more than 0.3 mm, the beam deformation at the isocenter exceeds the maximum accepted deformation limits. Generally speaking, for the current design of the SC200 scanning beam delivery system, the effects of mechanical deformation meet the maximum accepted beam deformation limits. In order to further study the effect of the incident beam optics on the isocenter properties, a fine-scale Monte Carlo model including factors relating to the PBS nozzle and the BG3 should be developed in future research.

  • In this experiment, we have investigated that the transported space charge between sub-pixels in AC-plasma cell discharge. The test pulse 30 V, $5{\mu}s$ was applied to the address electrodes of neighbor cells of discharge occurred cells. And we have measured the transported space charge between sub-pixels in accordance with the various last sustain pulse widths t(time gap between the rising edges of sustain and test pulses) of 0.2 to $3{\mu}s$. It was observed that the peak value of transported space charge has been shown to be 21.5pC at $1.0{\mu}s$. And the IR peak value have been occured after $0.51{\mu}s$ with respect to sustain voltage.

Influence of gas mixture He-Ne-Xe on the vacuum ultraviolet intensity in ac-PDPs.

  • The improvement of luminance and luminous efficiency is the one of the most important parts in AC-PDPs. To achieve high luminance and luminous efficiency, high VUV emission efficiency is needed. We measured the emission spectra of the vacuum ultraviolet(VUV) rays in surface discharge AC-PDP with ternary gas mixture of He-Ne-Xe. The influence of He-Ne-Xe gas-mixture ratio on excited $Xe^{\ast}$ resonant atoms and $Xe_2\;^{\ast}$ dimers has been investigated. It is found that luminous efficiency of ternary gas mixture, He-Ne-Xe, is shown to be much higher than that of binary gas mixture of Ne-Xe. For improving discharge luminous efficiency, we have studied VUV emission characteristics of ternary gas mixture, He(50%)-Ne-Xe and He(70%)-Ne-Xe with Xe concentration and filling gas pressure.

동일 기종 선형가속기간 8 MV 광자선에 대한 빔 매칭 정확도 평가 (Evaluation of Beam-Matching Accuracy for 8 MV Photon Beam between the Same Model Linear Accelerator)

  • This study aimed to assess of beam-matching accuracy for an 8 MV beam between the same model linear accelerators(Linac) commissioned over two years. Two models were got the customer acceptance procedure(CAP) criteria. For commissioning data for beam-matched linacs, the percentage depth doses(PDDs), beam profiles, output factors, multi-leaf collimator(MLC) leaf transmission factors, and the dosimetric leaf gap(DLG) were compared. In addition, the accuracy of beam matching was verified at phantom and patient levels. At phantom level, the point doses specified in TG-53 and TG-119 were compared to evaluate the accuracy of beam modelling. At patient level, the dose volume histogram(DVH) parameters and the delivery accuracy are evaluated on volumetric modulated arc therapy(VMAT) plan for 40 patients that included 20 lung and 20 brain cases. Ionization depth curve and dose profiles obtained in CAP showed a good level for beam matching between both Linacs. The variations in commissioning beam data, such as PDDs, beam profiles, output factors, TF, and DLG were all less than 1%. For the treatment plans of brain tumor and lung cancer, the average and maximum differences in evaluated DVH parameters for the planning target volume(PTV) and the organs at risk(OARs) were within 0.30% and 1.30%. Furthermore, all gamma passing rates for both beam-matched Linacs were higher than 98% for the 2%/2 mm criteria and 99% for the 2%/3 mm criteria. The overall variations in the beam data, as well as tests at phantom and patient levels remains all within the tolerance (1% difference) of clinical acceptability between beam-matched Linacs. Thus, we found an excellent dosimetric agreement to 8 MV beam characteristics for the same model Linacs.

새우조망 어구의 막대 (빔)와 날개그물 길이에 따른 어획성능과 양망 작업에의 영향 (Catching efficiency of a shrimp beam trawl according to the length of beam and wing net and its influence on the hauling work)

  • Shrimp beam trawl fishery is one of the important coastal fisheries in Korea. It has a regulation to the length of beam (8m) and wing net (7m) of shrimp beam trawl that has been used in the district of Junlanam-do and Gyungsangnam-do. This regulation was made in relation to the size of shrimp beam trawler of 3-ton class at that time. Now the shrimp beam fishing vessel has a limit not greater than 5 tons in gross ton. Recently, with improvement of fishing industry and fishing vessel fishermen asked the expansion of the length of beam and wing net, therefore it is necessary to investigate the effect of lengthening the beam and wing net length. Three different beams (8m, 10m and 12m in length) and three different wing net (7m, 10m and 13m in length) were made and the experiment was conducted near Narodo of Goheng by two fishing vessels of 4.98 and 4.88 tons in gross ton between June 2011 and October 2012. When the length of wing net was increased from 7m to 10m and 13m, the relative catch ratio in total biomass was increased 25% and 79% for shrimp, (17% and 22% in total), respectively. And when the beam length was increased from 8m to 10m and 12m, the relative catch ratio was increased 35% and 84% for shrimp, (21% and 37% in total), respectively. The force exerted to the iron guide of inhauler's with the beam length of 8m was about 30% greater than that with the beam length of 10m when hauling the shrimp beam trawl net.

중이온 Beam 조사가 담배 (Nicotiana tabacum L. cv. BY-4)의 약과 캘러스 및 종자에 미치는 영향 (Effect of a Heavy-lon Beam Irradiation on Anthers, Calli and Seeds of Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L. cv. BY-4))

  • 배양 중인 담배의 약과 캘러스, 그리고 종자에 중이온 ($^{14}$ N 또는 $^{20}$ Ne) beam을 조사하여 중이온 beam 조사가 약의 반응, 캘러스의 생장, 종자의 발아와 초기 생장에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 중이온 beam을 조사하기 전 10일간 preculture한 다음 beam을 조사한 약은 $^{14}$ N, $^{20}$ Ne 모두 20Gy 이상의 선량에서 캘러스 또는 신초유도가 없이 고사하였다. 배양 중인 캘러스는 $^{14}$ N 와 $^{20}$ Ne 이온 beam의 조사로 상대생장율이 감소하였고, 중이온 beam 조사 2주 후부터는 50 Gy 이상 선량 처리구에서 심하게 갈변하였다. 종자에 미치는 중이온 beam 조사의 영향으로 수분을 처리한 후 또는 수분 처리 없이 beam을 조사한 종자 모두에서 선종에 관계없이 선량이 증가함에 따라 발아를 지연시키며 유묘의 초기 생장을 억제하였다. 또한 수분을 흡수시킨 후 중이온 beam을 조사한 경우가 수분을 흡수시키지 않고 beam을 조사한 경우 보다 종자의 발아를 심하게 억제시켰다. 건조 상태의 종자에 중이온 beam을 조사한 경우 피조사체들의 특성과 생장의 초기단계에서 형태적 변이체를 검토하는데는 여과지를 이용한 방법보다 기내에서 배양하는 방법이 보다 효과적이었다.

일정속도 유체를 운반하는 곡관의 유한요소 진동해석 (Finite Element Vibration Analysis of a Curved Pipe Conveying Fluid with Uniform Velocity)

  • A method for the vibration analysis of curved beam conveying fluid with uniform velocity was presented. The dynamics of curved beam is based on the inextensible theory. Both in-plane motion and out-of-plane motion of curved beam were discussed. The finite element method was formulated to solve the governing equations. The natural frequencies calculated by the presented method were compared with those by analytical solution, straight beam theories and Nastran. As the velocity of fluid becomes larger, the results by straight beam model became different from those by curved beam model. And it was shown that the curved beam element should be used to predict the critical velocity of fluid exactly. The influence of fluid velocity on the frequency response function was also discussed.

박판의 이중 빔 레이저 용접에서 열유동 해석에 관한 연구 (A Study on Thermal Analysis of Dual Beam Laser Welding of Thin Metal Sheet)

  • Analytical model for the temperature distribution and the cooling rate of weld in dual beam laser welding is presented for investigating the possibility of controling the cooling rate. The model is based on the solutions to the problem of heat flow due to the distributed and line heat sources for preheating and welding respectively in plates with finite thickness. The effects of beam power, beam distribution parameter, interbeam distance, and welding speed on the resulting temperature distribution and cooling rate are presented. The cooling rates of dual beam laser weld at the weld centerline under the investigated conditions are reduced to as one third of those of welds which were produced by single beam laser. And it appeared that the cooling rate of dual beam laser weld is strongly dependent on the process parameters of preheating laser beam power and welding speed.
