Steak sauces containing Korean persimmon were prepared and characteristics were evaluated. SOP (steak sauce containing soft persimmon), SOPP (steak sauce containing soft persimmon powder), and SWP (steak sauce containing sweet persimmon extract) with 5, 10, and 15% persimmon weight per sauce weight were prepared by a common formula. Antioxidant activity was determined by DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activity, and sweetness of the sauces increased with increasing persimmon content. DPPH radical scavenging activities for SWP with persimmon content of 5 and 15% were $75.28{\pm}0.03%$ and $81.04{\pm}0.01%$, respectively. ABTS radical scavenging activities of SWP with persimmon content of 5 and 15% were $55.64{\pm}0.06$ and $59.18{\pm}0.07%$, respectively. With addition of persimmon, yellowness (b) and redness (a) increased. In overall acceptance of sensory evaluation, 5% SWP showed a relatively high score.
Calcium hydrogen phosphate was synthesized by reacting calcium chloride and sodium hydrogen phosphate solution in this study. It is well known that the particle size and yield o f calcium hydrogen phosphate produced is greatly affected by the synthetic conditions such as the reactant concentration, reaction temperature, reacting fine, mole ratio and drying temperature, etc. The purpose of this study is to investigate the optimum synthesis condition from the viewpoint of yield and sedimentation volume of the prepared calcium hydrogen phosphate powder according to a randomized complete block design proposed by G.E.P. Box and K.B. Wilson. It was found that the optimum synthetic conditions of calcium hydrogen phosphate were as follows: It was found that optirnum temperature range of reactant solutions was $28-38^{\circ}C$ and $32-42^{\circ}C$ respectively, on the viewpoint of yield and sedimentation volume. The optimum concentration range of reactant solutions was 5.5-10.0% and 6.9-7.4% respectively, on the viewpoint of yield and sedimentation volume. The optimum mole ratio of $CaCl_2$ to $Na_2HPO_4$ was in the range of 1.2-2.0 and the optimum reacting time range was 8.5-11.0 minutes. The optimum drying temperature range was $39-41^{\circ}C$ from the viewpoint of yield, but it was $39-43^{\circ}C$ on the basis of sedimentation volume. Crystallographic analysis to X-ray diffraction patterns of commercially available ecalcium hydrogen phosphate and calcium hydrogen phosphate samples prepared in this study suggested that all samples tested belonged to monoclinic crystal system characteristic of $CaHP0_4{\cdot}2H_20$ crystals.

This research is related to 240MPa ultra-high strength concrete(UHSC) with extremely loss W/B ratio. For this development, High flow cement is mainly used which has a short reaction rate due to the high blaine and high early strength, which can make greater fluidity in case of very low W/C ratio. It made the best mixture using the mineral admixtures silica fume, slag powder and special admixture. For dispersibility and homogeneity of cement binder, cement of premix type is produced using omni-mixer. Moreover, it ensures the fluidity of ultra-high strength concrete(UHSC). For having a good fire performance, we made an experiment special coarse aggregate. As a result, we got 180MPa in case of water curing, 200MPa in case of steam curing and uniform UHSC of 240MPa in case of a special curing method.

In this study, we report that effects of a filler with a high coefficient of thermal expansion on a sealant for high-temperature ($750{\sim}850^{\circ}C$) SOFC. We designed a $SiO_2-BaO-ZnO-B_2O_3-Al_2O_3$ glass system with a softening temperature higher than $750^{\circ}C$. The properties of the glass system show not only low volumetric shrinking but also low swelling. The glass system did not create a crystal phase during along-term heat treatment. We fabricated a seal gasket with 0, 10, 15, and 20 wt% cristobalite added as filler materials with glass powder. The coefficient of thermal expansion of the seal gasket increased according to cristobalite content. During along-term heat treatment, the leak rate decreased by about 5% after a heat treatment in an oxidizing atmosphere at $750^{\circ}C$ for 2000 h, also decreasing by about 6% after a heat treatment in a reducing atmosphere at $750^{\circ}C$ for 1000 h.

Borosilicate glass (81% $SiO_2$-2% $Al_2O_3$-13% $B_2O_3$-4% $Na_2O_3$) was prepared, and the glass was ion exchanged in $KNO_3$ powder containing different temperature and time. The $K^+-Na^+$ ion exchange takes place at the glass surface and creates compressed stress, which raise the mechanical strength of the glass. The depth profile of $Na^+$ and $K^+$ was observed by electron probe micro analyzer. With the increasing heat-treatment time from 0min to 20min, the depth profile was increased from 17.1um to 29.4um, but mechanical properties were decreased. It was also found out that excessive heat treatment brings stress relaxation. The Vickers hardness, Fracture Toughness and bending strength of ion exchanged samples at $570^{\circ}C$ for 10min were $821.8H_v$, $1.3404MPa{\cdot}m^{1/2}$, and 953MPa, which is about 120%, 180%, and 450% higher than parent borosilicate glass, respectively. Transmittance was analyzed by UV-VIS-NIR spectrophotometer. Transmittance of ion exchanged borosilicate glass was decreased slightly at visible-range. It can be expected that transparent bulletproof materials in more light-weight and thinner by ion exchanged borosilicate glass.

Steel tire cords were coated via RF plasma polymerization of acetylene and butadiene gas in order to enhance adhesion to rubber compounds. Adhesion of tire cords was measured by TCAT and T-test as a function of type of gas, plasma powder, treatment time, gas pressure and Ar gas etching. Some samples were subjected to aging study in distilled water at $80^{\circ}C$ for a period of 7 days. After testing, tire cords were analysed by SEM to elucidate the adhesion mechanism. The highest adhesion values were obtained at 20W, 2min and 25mtorr for acetylene plasma polymerization, and l0W, 4min, 25mtorr for butadiene plasma polymerization. However, Ar plasma etching did not affect adhesion, while the adhesion of tire cords increased rather than decreased, contrary to expectations. It was not possible to elucidate failure mode by SEM, owing to the rough surface of the tire and the thin plasma polymer coating layer.

In the preparation of acyclic thymidine nucleoside analogues, $K_2CO_3$(or NaH) treated thymine in DMSO was alkylated with .omega.-chloroalkyl nitrite (Cl-(CH_2)n-CN; n=1, 2, 3, 4) to provide an isomeric mixture of 1-(${\omega}$-cyanoalkyl)thymine (2a-d) and 1,3-bis(${\omega}$-cyanoalkyl)thymine in approximately 5:1 ratios. Reduction of the cyano function 2a-d with $NaBH_{4}/CoCl_{2}$ center dot$ 6H_{2}O$gave the corresponding 1-(${\omega}$aminoalkyl)thymine (3a-d). The newly formed primary amino function in 3a-d was directly reacted with 2-chloroethylisocyanate to afford the 1-[.omega.($N^{I}$-2-chloroethylureido) alkyl]thymine (4a-d) in good yields. Nitrosation of 1-[5-($ N^{I}-2$-chloroethylureido)pentyl] thymine (4d) with glacial acetic acid and dry $NaNO_{2}$-powder in anhydrous $CH_{2}Cl_{2}$gave two types of regioisomeric nitrosoureas, 1-[5-($N^{I}$--chloroethyl-$N^{I}$--nitrosoureido)pentylithymine (5d) and 1-[5-($N^{I}-2$-chloroethyl-N-nitrosoureido)pentyllthymine in approximately 5 :1 ratios. The in vitro cytotoxicity of the synthesized compounds (2a-d, 3a-d, 4a-d and 5a-d) against three cell lines (K-562, P-388 and FM-3A) are measured as $IC^{50}$ values. Compounds 3b and 4c showed moderate activities against all three cell lines, and all other compounds were found to be not active.
Melt foaming method is one of cost-effective methods to make metal foam and it has been successfully applied to fabricate Mg foams. In this research, AZ31 Mg alloy ingot was used as a metal matrix, using AlCa granular as thickening agent and $CaCO_3$ powder as foaming agent, AZ31 Mg alloy foams were fabricated by melt-foaming method at different foaming temperatures. The porosity was above 41.2%~73.3%, pore size was between 0.38~1.52 mm, and homogenous pore structures were obtained. Microstructure and mechanical properties of the AZ31 Mg alloy foams were investigated by optical microscopy, SEM and UTM. The results showed that pore structure and pore distribution were much better than those fabricated at lower temperatures. The compression behavior of the AZ31 Mg alloy foam behaved as typical porous materials. As the foaming temperature increased from $660^{\circ}C$ to $750^{\circ}C$, the compressed strength also increased. The AZ31 Mg alloy foam with a foaming temperature of $720^{\circ}C$ had the best energy absorption. The energy absorption value of Mg foam was 15.52 $MJ/m^3$ at a densification strain of 52%. Furthermore, the high energy absorption efficiencies of the AZ31 Mg alloy foam kept at about 0.85 in the plastic plateau region, which indicates that composite foam possess a high energy absorption characteristic, and the Vickers hardness of AZ31 Mg alloy foam decreased as the foaming temperature increased.
This study was designed to compare the quality characteristics of spray-dried (SD) and freeze-dried (FD) powders prepared with hot water extracts of sea mustard (Undraia pinnatifada) and sea tangle (Laminaria longissima). The moisture content of FD seawed was lower than that of SD, and sea mustard had a higher overall moisture content than sea tangle. The alginic acid content of SD seaweed was significantly higher than that of FD seaweed for both species. There were relatively higher contents of phenolic compounds in SD powders than in FD powders. DPPH radical scavenging ability was significantly greater in SD seaweed, and also, SOD-like activity in SD powders was higher than those of FD powders. However, the nitrite scavenging activity of FD powders of sea mustard (10 mg/mL) was higher than that of SD. In conclusion, spray-dried sea mustard and sea tangle extracts exhibited higher physiological functionalities than their freeze-dried counterparts.
In Pohang area, basaluminite accompanying a little amounts of hydrobasalumnite, super-genetically occurs as whitish cryptocrystalline (2-4 $\mu\textrm{m}$) clay-like aggregates in the vicinity of altered carbonate concretions embedded within mudstones of the Tertiary Yeonil Group. A hydrobasaluminite changed readily into a basaluminite at room temperature in air, and, in turn, into a metabasaluminite when heating to 150$^{\circ}$~30$0^{\circ}C$. For the basaluminite, a monoclinic unit-cellparameters (a=14.845$\AA$, b=10.006$\AA$, c=11.082$\AA$, $\beta$=122.15$^{\circ}$) were calculated by X-ray powder diffraction data. Its basal reflections (001 and 002) are XRD analyses strongly indicate that the aluminum sulphate mineral has a layer structure and, at least, three types of water, i.e., (1) interlayer water (9.0 wt %), (2) crystal water (8.0 wt %), and (3) structural water (19.0 wt %). may present in its lattice. Based on TG-DTG data combined with EDS and IR analyses, a new chemical formula of Al5SO4(OH)134H2O was given to the basaluminite. Field occurrence and stable isotope data ($\delta$18O, $\delta$D, $\delta$34S) for the basaluminite seem to reflect that it was formed by the leached meteoric solution from surrounding mudstones during or after uplifting. An interaction of the acid solution with carbonate concretion and the resultant local neutralization of the fluid rich in Al3+ and SO42- are major controls on the basaluminite formation.
