The measured solar radiation incident on tilted surfaces by all directions has been widely used as important solar radiation data in installing photovoltaic modules. To maximize the incident beam radiation, the slope, which is the angle between the plane of the surface in question and the horizontal, an4 the solar azimuth angles are needed for these solar photovoltaic systems. This is because the performance of the solar photovoltaic systems is much affected by angle and direction of incident rays. Recognizing those factors mentioned above are of importance, actual experiment has been performed in this research to obtain the an91e of inclination with which the maximum incident rays can be absorbed. The results obtained in this research could be used in installing optimal photovoltaic modules.

The surveillance imaging equipments are functioning to observe the shape of the target in real time or to measure its location precisely. The roles of such equipments are becoming more important in today's weapon systems. The aforementioned imaging equipments can be classified based on the modes of operations such as fixed, installed on cars, or composite of those. Also, according to different concepts of sensor operation, a separate type uses independent housing for each sensor whereas in a composite type a set of multiple sensors are housed into a unit altogether. The sensors in general have magnetism, thereby introducing the possible negative effects, particularly in the composite types, in locating the reference position, which is carried out by the digital compass. The use of shielding material/housing could be an option but results in increased weight and reduced portability, restricting its use in composite type equipments. As such, the objective of this paper is to study on how to reduce such magnetic effects on the position location. To do so, in the absence of magnetic shielding, a variety of sensor positions were first modeled. By combing the result with the fact that the functions of PAN & Tilt are used in the equipments, a new position location algorithm is proposed. The use of the new algorithm can automate the position location process as compared to the manual process of the existing approach. In the algorithm developed, twelve locations are measured in connection with both the azimuth and elevation angles in comparison to the six locations alone around the azimuth angle. As a result, it turns out that the measurement range has been widened but the measurement time reduced. Also, note that the effect of errors the operators may make during measurement could be reduced.
A fiber-optic reference signal transmission system, which transmits the 1.4 GHz reference signal from H-maser to receiver cabin in radio telescopes, was adopted for compensating the phase changes due to temperature variation and antenna movement. At the first experiment, the remote signal's phase changed more than 15 degrees at 1.4 GHz. We found unstable components in sub-system experiments and replaced them. The main cause of unstable phase stability was the unaligned polarization axis between Laser Diode and Mach-Zehnder Modulator (MZM). The improved system stability showed $1{\times}10^{-16}$ allan standard deviation at 1,000 sec integration time with the antenna fixed. When the antenna moves in the azimuth axis, the 1.4 GHz remote signal showed the phase change smaller than 0.2 degrees.
The SAR payload of the KOMPSAT-5 is equipped with an X-band (9.66GHz) microwave-based sensor. Especially, since it has a fixed antenna that can be electronically steered with respect to the azimuth and elevation planes, various applications are expected. This study evaluates the production performance and the accuracy of the DEM by producing DEM using the HR and UH mode images of KOMPSAT-5. To evaluate the production performance of the DEM, the sensitivity of DEM was assessed through a baseline analysis and $2{\pi}$ ambiguity; it was found to have good production performance. In addition, to evaluate the accuracy of the produced DEM, 30 check points were compared with SRTM data. As a result, STDEV ${\pm}15-20m$ accuracy was obtained. If the accuracy of the DEM is improved by adjusting the parameters of the filtering method or phase unwrapping method in the future, it will be possible to widely use the KOMPSAT-5 image for environmental and disaster monitoring.

Light shelf is an efficient system that reduces the energy consumption by bringing the natural light down to the deep spaces inside of a building. However, the existing light shelves have limits in reducing energy usage, because the direction of the light flow is determined by the external environment such as the altitude of the sun and the azimuth. This current study presents a system that increases the efficiency of the light shelf by applying the Location-Awareness technology, in which the efficiency was verified through the performance evaluation. According to the examination of the technology for the Location-Awareness within residential space, 'Zigbee' type appears to be the most appropriate. The Location-Awareness technology operates the light shelf based on both the angle control axis and the light shelf angle control axis through the modularization of the reflector surface which is less affected by the external environment. The results of the performance evaluation showed that the movable light shelf that employs the Location-Awareness technology can reduce the energy consumption for lighting by 98.3% compared to the fixed light shelf and by 97.3% compared to the movable light shelf without Location-Awareness.

Televiewer is a logging tool capable of scanning the borehole wall. The tool uses a rotating acoustic beam generator that acts as both a transmitter and receiver. The beams are sent toward the wall. The amplitude of a returning signal from the wall has nearly a linear relationship with the reflection coefficient R of the borehole wall, when the wall is smooth. As R depends only on rock impedance for fixed water impedance, the amplitude is directly associated with mass density and seismic velocity of rock. Meanwhile, the amplitude can be further reduced by wall roughness that may be caused by drilling procedures, differences in rock hardness, because the rough surface can easily scatter the acoustic energy and sometimes the hole becomes elongated in all directions according to the degree of weathering. In this sense, the amplitude is related to the hardness of rocks. For convenience of analysis, the measured amplitude image(2-D data(azimuth ${\times}$ depth)) is converted, with an appropriate algorithm, to the 1-D data(depth), where the amplitude image values along a predetermined fracture signature(sinusoid) are summed up and averaged. The resulting values are subsequently scaled simply by a scalar factor that is possibly consistent with a known strength. This scaled Televiewer reflectivity is named, as a matter of convenience,“Televiewer rock strength”. This paper shows, based on abundant representative case studies from about 8 years of Televiewer surveys, that Televiewer rock strength might be regarded, on a continuous basis with depth, as a quitely robust indicator of rock classification and in most cases as an approximate uniaxial strength that is comparable to the rebound value from Schmidt hammer test.

In this paper proposes a novel tacking algorithm regarding the power loss when operating a tracking system for a rapidly changing insolation to improve the power of PV hacking system. The tracking system of sensor method used in a conventional PV power station is unable to exactly track a sun position when lacking in the intensity of radiation and has the problem is malfunction of tracking system by a rapidly changing climatic. The tracking system of program method spends too much energy on the unnecessary operation of tracking system because that is unable to adapt itself to a outside factor of climatic environment. In case of tracking an azimuth and altitude of the sun in realtime, therefore, the actual PV power is less increasing than the power of tracking system fixed a specific position. To reduce the power loss, this pap proposes a novel control algorithm of the tracking system. Also, this paper is analyzed efficiency of traditional solar tracking method and proposed method, prove validity of proposed algorithm through demonstrable study.

In this study, wind loads exerted on the offshore wind turbine rotor in parked condition were predicted with variations of wind speeds, yaw angles, azimuth angle, pitch angles, and power of the atmospheric boundary layer profile. The calculated wind loads using blade element theorem were compared with those of estimated aerodynamic loads for the simplified blade shape. Wind loads for an NREL's 5 MW scaled offshore wind turbine rotor were also compared with those of NREL's FAST results for more verification. All of the 6-component wind loads including forces and moments along the three axis were represented on a non-rotating coordinate system fixed at the apex of rotor hub. The calculated wind loads are applicable for the dynamic analysis of the wind turbine system, or obtaining the over-turning moment at the foundation of support structure for wind turbine system.
This paper suggests a new retrieval method using weighted vector sum to resolve a problem of traditional location-based retrieval method, nearest neighbor (NN) query, and NN query using direction. The proposed method filters out data with the radius, and then the remained retrieval area is filtered by a direction information compounded of a user's moving direction, a pre-fixed interesting direction, and a pre-fixed retrieval angle. The moving direction is computed from a vector or a weighted vector sum of several vectors using a weight to adopt several cases. The retrieval angle can be set from traditional $360^{\circ}$ to any degree you want. The retrieval data for this method can be a still and moving image recorded shooting location, and also several type of media like text, web, picture offering to customer with location of company or resort. The suggested method guarantees more accurate retrieval than traditional location-based retrieval methods because that the method selects data within the radius and then removes data of useless areas like passed areas or an area of different direction. Moreover, this method is more flexible and includes the direction based NN.

The effects of the growth temperature on the properties of a-plane GaN epi-layer on r-plane sapphire by HVPE were studied, when the constant V/III ratio and the flow rate of HCl for the Ga source channel was fixed at 10 and 700 sccm, respectively. Additionally the effects of V/III ratios for source gasses were studied when growth temperature and the flow rate of HCl for the Ga source channel was fixed at $1000^{\circ}C$ and 700 sccm, respectively. As the growth temperature was increased, the values of Full Width Half Maximum (FWHM) for Rocking curve (RC) of a-plane GaN (11-20) epi-layer were decreased and thickness of a-plane GaN epi-layer were increased. As V/III ratios were increased at $1000^{\circ}C$, the values of FWHM for RC of a-plane GaN (11-20) were declined and thickness of a-plane GaN epi-layer were increased. The a-plane GaN (11-20) epi-layer grown at $1000^{\circ}C$ and V/III ratio = 10 showed the lowest value FWHM for RC of a-plane GaN (11-20) for 734 arcsec and the smallest dependence of Azimuth angle for FWHM of (11-20) RCs.
