Constitutive Modeling of Confined Concrete under Concentric Loading

  • The inelastic behavior of a reinforced concrete columns is influenced by a number of factors : 1) level of axial load, 2) tie spacing, 3) volumetric ratio of lateral steel, 4) concrete strength, 5) distribution of longitudinal steel, 6) strength of lateral steel, 7) cover thickness, 8) configuration of lateral steel, 9) strain gradient, 10) strain rate, 11) the effectively confined concrete core area, and 12) amount of longitudinal steel. A new constitutive model of a confined concrete is suggested in order to investigate the nonlinear behavior of the reinforced concrete columns under concentric loading. The developed constitutive model for the confined concrete takes into account the effects of effectively confined area as well as the horizontal and longitudinal distributions of the confining pressures. None of the existing models incorporated these two main effects at the same time. A total of different six constitutive models for the behavior of the confined concrete under concentric compression were compared with the sixty-one test results reported by different researchers. The superiority of the developed model in its accuracy is demonstrated by evaluating the error function, which compares the weighted averages for the sum of squared relative differences in peak compressive strength and corresponding strain, stress at strain equal to 0.015, and total area under stress-strain curve up to strain equal to 0.015.

  • 가스발생기 산화제 개폐 밸브에 사용되는 주름관의 구조 해석 및 시험이 수행되었다. 이 주름관은 극저온에서 압축 변위와 높은 외압 하중을 받는다. 구조 해석은 상온 및 극저온에서 EJMA (Expansion Joint Manufacturing Association) 표준 및 상용 유한 요소 해석프로그램인 Abaqus v6.9를 이용하여 수행되었다. 스프링 강성, 응력 및 피로 수명 해석 결과들이 비교되었고 유한 요소 해석 결과에서 접촉 및 재질의 소성에 의한 영향을 살펴보았다. 또한 파열 시험과 관련된 유한 요소 해석 결과도 제시되었다.

Multi-response optimization of crashworthiness parameters of bi-tubular structures

  • This article aims at presenting multi objective optimization of parameters that affect crashworthiness characteristics of bi-tubular structures using Taguchi method with grey relational analysis. To design the experiments, the $L_9$ orthogonal array has been used and based on that, the inner tubes have been fabricated by varying the three influence factors such as reference diameter, length difference and numbers of sides of the polygon with three levels, but all the outer cylinders have the same diameter and length 90 mm and 135 mm respectively. Then, the tailor made bi-tubular steel structures were subjected into quasi static axial compression. From the test results it is found that the crushing behaviors of bi-tubular structures with different combinations were fairly significant. The important responses (crashworthiness indicators) specific energy absorption and crush force efficiency have been evaluated from load - displacement curve. Finally optimal levels of parameters were identified using grey relational analysis, and significance of parameters was determined by analysis of variance. The optimum crashworthiness parameters are reference diameter 80 mm, length difference 0 mm and number of sides of polygon is 3, i.e., triangle within the selected nine bi-tube combinations.

  • 이 논문에서는, CFT 감재-콘크리트 합성말뚝과 FRP를 원주방향으로 보강한 FRP-콘크리트 합성말뚝 (CFFT)과 관련하여 발생하는 문제점들을 완하시키기 위해 새롭게 제안된 콘크리트 채움 원형 FRP 말뚝 (HCFFT)의 구조적 거동에 대한 실험적 연구결과를 발표하였다. 연구를 통해 기존의 CFT와 CFFT 말뚝과 비교하여 새로 제안한 HCFFT 말뚝이 말뚝 기초의 시공에서 축하중과 휨모멘트를 포함하는 상부하중을 지반에 효과적으로 전달할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

  • Front-side members are structures with the greatest energy absorbing capability in a front-end collision of vehicles. This paper was performed to analyze initial collapse characteristics of spot welded hat and double hat-shaped section members, which are basic shape of side members, on the shift of flange weld pitches. The impact collapse tests were carried out by using home-made vertical air compression impact testing machine, and impact velocity of hat-shaped section members is 4.17m/sec and that of double hat-shaped section members is 6.54m/sec. In impact collapse tests, the collapsed length of hat-shaped section members was about 45mm and that of double hat-shaped section members was about 50mm. In consideration of these condition, axial static collapse tests(0.00017m/sec) of hat and double hat-shaped section members were carried out by using UTM which was limited displacement, about 50mm. As the experimental results, to obtain the best initial collapse characteristics, it is important that stiffness of vehicle members increases as section shapes change and the progressively folding mode induces by flange welding pitch.

실내와 현장다짐 점성토의 회복탄성계수 (Resilient Modulus of Laboratory End Field Compacted Cohesive Soils)

  • 실내다짐토와 현장다짐토의 회복탄성특성을 비교하기 위하여 5종류의 현장다짐점토와 3종류의 실내다짐점토에 대한 회복탄성계수실험 (Resilient Modulus Test)을 실시하였다. 실험 결과에 의하면 현장시료의 회복탄성계수는 동일한 함수비와 건조단위중량으로 다짐형성된 시료의 그것과 상당히 다른 것으로 나타났다. 회복탄성계수는 1% 변형률에서의 일축압축응력과 좋은 상관 관계를 가지는 것으로 확인되었으며 이들간의 상관관계는 회귀분석에 의하여 간단한 식과 도표로 제안되었다. 구해진 상관관계는 실내다짐토와 현장다짐 토에 대해 약간 다르나, 실제 노반에 존재할 것으로 예상되는 응력조건하에서는 크게 다르지 않다. 제안된 상관관계식 자체는 시공후 지반의 상태변화에 영향을 받지 않으므로 as-compacted나 in-service상태에 모두 적용 가능하다.

  • 자동차의 고무부품 중의 하나인 스트라트방진고무의 특성 평가를 위하여 유한요소해석과 피로 수명시험을 실시하였다. 유한요소해석에 필요한 변형률에너지함수의 계수를 결정하기 위하여 인장, 압축 및 전단시험을 실시하였으며, 유한요소해석 결과로부터 변형 양성 및 취약 부위를 예측하였다. 부품의 피로수명시험 결과로부터 하중-수명 관계를 얻었으며, 피로파손 부위는 유한요소해석에서 예측된 취약 부위와 잘 일치하였다.

  • 이 연구는 국내에서 생산되고 있는 철근이 반복하중을 받는 경우의 파괴 특성에 대한 검증을 목적으로 한다. 이 논문은 철근콘크리트 하부구조(파일과 교각)에 배근된 축방향 철근에 대한 저주파 피로 거동을 다루었다. 전체 81개의 철근 실험체에 대하여 변형률 진폭에 따른 반복 축방향 변형률 제어 방식으로 저주파 피로 실험을 수행하였다. 실험 변수는 인장변형률과 압축변형률의 비율, 축방향 철근의 항복강도, 철근지름에 대한 철근길이의 비율, 철근의 크기와 변형률 진폭으로 선택하였다. 이 논문에서 실험 결과에 따른 저주파 피로 거동과 저주파 피로 수명을 분석하였다.

축 압궤하중을 받는 Gr/E 복합재 튜브의 에너지 흡수특성 (The Absorbed Energy Characteristics of Gr/E Composite Tubes under Axial Collapse Load)

  • Composites have wide applications in aerospace vehicles and automobiles because of the inherent flexibility in their design lot improved material properties. Composite tubes in particular, are potential candidates for their use as energy absorbing elements in crashworthiness applications due to their high specific energy absorbing capacity and the stroke efficiency. Their failure mechanism however is highly complicated and rather difficult to analyze. This includes fracture in fibers, in the matrix and in the fiber-matrix interface in tension, compression and shear. The purpose of this study is to investigate the energy absorption characteristics of Gr/E(Graphite/Epoxy) tubes on static and impact tests. The collapse characteristics and energy absorption of a variety of tubes have been examined. Changes in the lay-up which increased the modulus increased the energy absorption of the tubes. Based on the test results, the following remarks can be made: Among CA15, CA00 and CA90 curves the CA90 tube exhibits the highest crush load throughout the whole crush process, and max load increases as interlaminar number increase. Among all the tubes type CC90 has the largest specific crushing stress of 52.60 kJ/kg which is much larger than other tubes.
