변분법을 이용한 축방향으로 움직이는 보의 스펙트럴 요소 모델링 (Dynamics of an Axially Moving Bernoulli-Euler Beam : Variational Method-Based Spectral Element Modeling)

  • The spectral element model is known to provide very accurate structural dynamic characteristics, while reducing the number of degree-of-freedom to resolve the computational and cost problems. Thus, the spectral element model with variational method for an axially moving Bernoulli-Euler beam subjected to axial tension is developed in the present paper. The high accuracy of the spectral element model is the verified by comparing its solutions with the conventional finite element solutions and exact analytical solutions. The effects of the moving speed and axial tension the vibration characteristics, wave characteristics, and the static and dynamic stabilities of a moving beam are investigated.

  • 스펙트럴요소법 (SEM)은 계산되는 행렬의 크기를 줄여 비용과 시간을 절감하면서 구조물의 동역학적 특성을 정확하게 알 수 있는 해석법이다. 본 연구에서는 변분법을 이용하여 양단에서 축 방향으로 장력을 받으며 같은 방향으로 이동하는 현을 스펙트럴요소법 (SEM) 을 이용하여 해석하였다. 또 결과의 정확도를 비교하기 위하여 스펙트럴요소법 (SEM)과 유한요소법 (FEM)과 엄밀해를 비교하였다. 그리고 현이 움직이는 속도와 양단에 작용하는 장력이 진동특성, 파동특성 그리고 정, 동적 안정성에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 연구하였다.

  • The non-linear properties of rubber material which are described as strain energy function are important parameter to design and evaluate of rubber spring. These are determined by material tests which are uni-axial tension and bi-axial tension. The computer simulation using the nonlinear element analysis program executed to predict and evaluate the load capacity and stiffness for chevron spring. In order to investigate the heat-aging effects on the rubber material properties, the acceleration test were carried out. Compression set results changes as the threshold are used for assessment of the useful life and time to threshold value were plotted against reciprocal of absolute temperature to give the Arrhenius plot. By using the compression set test, several useful life prediction for rubber material were proposed.

Analysis of end-plate connections at elevated temperatures

  • In this paper a robust 2-noded connection element has been developed for modelling the bolted end-plate connection between steel beam and column at elevated temperatures. The numerical procedure described is based on the model proposed by Huang (2011), incorporating additional developments to more precisely determinate the tension, compression and bending moment capacities of end-plate connection in fire. The proper failure criteria are proposed to calculate the tension capacity for each individual bolt row. In this new model the connection failure due to bending, axial tension, compression and shear are considered. The influence of the axial force of the connected beam on the connection is also taken into account. This new model has the advantages of both the simple and component-based models. In order to validate the model a total of 22 tests are used. It is evident that this new connection model has ability to accurately predict the behaviour of the end-plate connection at elevated temperatures, and can be used to represent the end-plate connections in supporting performance-based fire resistance design of steel-framed composite buildings.

  • H/T(High Tension) bolt is generally being used in joining the members of steel structure. It has some difficulties in management such as an adequate fastening force and a selection of proper instrument for fastening. T/S(Torque Shear Type High Tension) bolt which is more convenient and easier than H/T bolt in quality control has recently been developed. T/S bolts are produced and widely used these days in domestic, but those have not a detail regulation for their on. Those are only being used according to the specification for the H/T bolts. In this study, we tried to confirm the soundness of T/S bolts by the fatigue test of the modified specimens. First, we measured the reduction rate of the initial axial force with time at bolts. Second, we investigated the slip forces of bolts when the test specimen is loaded in tension. Third, we implemented the fatigue tests. During the test, we measured the variation of the axial forces of bolts under the cyclic loading. Finally, we compared and analyzed the fatigue behavior of H/T and T/S bolt, by S-N curve diagrams that are obtained in this study.

Assessment of titanium alloy bolts for structural applications

  • This paper explored the viability of utilising titanium alloy bolts in the construction industry through an experimental programme, where a total of sixty-six titanium alloy (Ti/6Al/4V) bolts were tested under axial tension, pure shear and combined tension and shear. In addition, a series of Charpy V-notch specimens machined from titanium alloy bolts, conventional high-strength steel bolts, austenitic and duplex stainless steel bolts were tested for impact toughness comparisons. The obtained experimental results demonstrated that the axial tensile and pure shear capacities of titanium alloy bolts can be reasonably estimated by the current design standards for steel structures (Eurocode 3, AS 4100 and AISC 360). However, under the combined tension and shear loading conditions, significant underestimation by Eurocode 3 and unsafe predictions through AS 4100 and AISC 360 indicate that proper modifications are necessary to facilitate the safe and economic use of titanium alloy bolts. In addition, numerical models were developed to calibrate the fracture parameters of the tested titanium alloy bolts. Furthermore, a design-based selection process of titanium alloy bolts in the structural applications was proposed, in which the ultimate strength, ductility performance and corrosion resistance (including galvanic corrosion) of titanium alloy bolts was mainly considered.

차량용 고무 및 금속 V-벨트 CVT의 변속비-부하토크-축력특성과 성능비교 (Comparison of speed ratio-torque load-axial force characteristics and their performance for automotive rubber and metal V-belt CVT)

  • The speed ratio-torque load-axial force characteristics of a rubber V-belt (RVB) and a metal V-belt (MVB) CVT are investigated and their performances are compared. It is found that power is transmitted by tension difference in RVB, and by thrust difference in MVB. The nondimensional equations for speed ratio-torque load-axial force of RVB are exactly same as those of MVB. However, actual characteristics of axial forces of RVB and MVB are different depending on their power transmission methods. The torque capacity of MVB is 5-6 times higher than that of RVB due to MVB's higher strength, even if the required axial force of MVB CVT control is 3-4 times higher than that of RVB.

A modified RBSM for simulating the failure process of RC structures

  • In this paper, a modified rigid body spring model (RBSM) is proposed and used to analyze the damage and failure process of reinforced concrete (RC) structures. In the proposed model, the concrete is represented by an assembly of rigid blocks connected with a uniform distribution of normal and tangential springs to simulate the macroscopic mechanical behavior of concrete. Steel bars are evenly dispersed into rigid blocks as a kind of homogeneous axial material, and an additional uniform distribution of axial and dowel springs is defined to consider the axial stiffness and dowel action of steel bars. Perfect bond between the concrete and steel bars is assumed, and tension stiffening effect of steel bars is modeled by adjusting the constitutive relationship for the tensile reinforcement. Adjacent blocks are allowed to separate at the contact interface, which makes it convenient and easy to simulate the cracking process of concrete. The failure of the springs is determined by the Mohr-Coulomb type criterion with the tension and compression caps. The effectiveness of the proposed method is confirmed by elastic analyses of a cantilever beam under different loading conditions and failure analyses of a RC beam under two-point loading.

용접 철골모멘트골조의 비선형 동적 연쇄붕괴해석을 위한 병렬 소성힌지 모델의 개발 (A Parallel Axial-Flexural Hinge Model for Nonlinear Dynamic Progressive Collapse Analysis of Welded Steel Moment Frames)

  • 본 논문에서는 용접철골모멘트골조의 비선형 동적 연쇄붕괴 해석을 위해 인장-휨 거동을 반영한 효율적인 병렬 소성힌지를 제안하였다. 본 목적을 위해 재료적/기하학적 비선형 유한요소해석을 이용한 변수연구를 통해 기둥이 손실된 2경간 보의 항복후 휨거동과 모멘트-축인장력 상호작용을 살펴보았다. 유한요소해석결과를 토대로 보의 모멘트-축인장력 상호작용 관계를 일련의 선형으로 근사화한 소성힌지모델을 제안하고, 이를 OpenSees 프로그램에 적용하여 용접철골모멘트골조의 비선형 동적 연쇄붕괴해석을 수행하였다. 비선형 동적 유한요소해석을 통하여 본 연구에서 제안한 힌지모델의 효율성과 정확도를 검증하였다. 또한 본 연구 결과는 연쇄붕괴 해석 및 설계에 적절한 현수작용효과의 포함여부가 중요함을 보여준다.

풍화토 지반에 적용된 인장형 앵커의 주면마찰응력 분포특성에 대한 수치해석적 연구 (Numerical Study on the Skin Friction Characteristics of Tension Type Ground Anchors in Weathered Soil)

  • 지반앵커의 인발능력을 평가하기 위해서는 앵커 정착장에 작용하는 축력 및 마찰응력 분포특성을 검토해야 한다. 그러나 지반앵커의 하중전이특성에 대한 해석적 방법은 현재 기준화되지 않았으며 또한 이와 관련된 연구도 부족한 실정이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 마찰(인장)형 지반앵커를 대상으로 풍화토 지반조건에서 작용하중별 정착장에 작용하는 축력 분포와 주면마찰응력분포 특성을 모사할 수 있는 해석적 방법을 검토하였으며, 본 해석적 방법을 통해 주면마찰응력의 진행적 변화거동 특성을 분석하였다. 검토결과 제안된 해석적 방법에 의한 정착장 축력 및 주면마찰응력 분포가 현장실험결과와 비교적 유사함을 확인하였다.
