  • The Poisson point process (PPP) is widely used in wireless network modeling and performance analysis because it can provide tractable results for heterogeneous cellular networks (HetNets) analysis. However, it cannot accurately reflect the spatial distribution characteristics of the actual base stations (BSs). Considering the fact that the distribution of macro base stations (MBSs) is exclusive, the deployment of MBSs is modeled by the Matérn hard-core point process (MHCPP), and the deployment of pico base stations (PBSs) is modeled by PPP. This paper studies the performance of multiantenna HetNets and improves the energy efficiency (EE) of HetNets by optimizing the transmit power of PBSs. We use a simple approximate method to study the signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) distribution in two-tier MHCPP-PPP HetNets and derive the coverage probability, average data rate and EE of HetNets. Then, an optimization algorithm is proposed to improve the EE of HetNets. Finally, three transmission technologies are simulated and analyzed. The results show that multiantenna transmission has better system performance than single antenna transmission and that selecting the appropriate transmit power for a PBS can effectively improve the EE of the system. In addition, two-tier MHCPP-PPP HetNets have higher EE than two-tier PPP-PPP HetNets.

  • We have investigated the effects of hydrogen injection via in-situ gas addition ($O_2$, $H_2$, or $O_2$ + $H_2$ gas) and plasma post-treatment (Ar or Ar + H plasma) on material properties of ZnO that is considered to be as a channel layer in transparent thin film transistors. The variations in the electrical resistivity, optical transmittance and bandgap energy, and crystal quality of ZnO thin films were characterized in terms of the methods and conditions used in hydrogen injection. The resistivity was significantly decreased by injection of hydrogen; approximately $10^6\;{\Omega}cm$ for as-grown, $1.2\;{\times}\;10^2\;{\Omega}cm$ for in-situ with $O_2/H_2\;=\;2/3$ addition, and $0.1\;{\Omega}cm$ after Ar + H plasma treatment of 90 min. The average transmittance of ZnO films measured at a wavelength of 400-700 nm was gradually increased by increasing the post-treatment time in Ar + H plasma. The optical bandgap energy of ZnO films was almost monotonically increased by decreasing the $O_2/H_2$ ratio in in-situ gas addition or by increasing the post-treatment time in Ar + H plasma, while the post-treatment using Ar plasma hardly affected the bandgap energy. The role of hydrogen in ZnO was discussed by considering the creation and annihilation of oxygen vacancies as well as the formation of shallow donors by hydrogen.

  • Background: To investigate the internal validity of a food-frequency questionnaire (FFQ) developed for use in Chinese women and to compare habitual dietary intakes between population and hospital controls measured by the FFQ. Materials and Methods: A quantitative FFQ and a short food habit questionnaire (SFHQ) were developed and adapted for cancer and nutritional studies. Habitual dietary intakes were assessed in 814 Chinese women aged 18-81 years (407 outpatients and 407 population controls) by face-to-face interview using the FFQ in Shenyang, Northeast China in 2009-2010. The Goldberg formula (ratio of energy intake to basal metabolic rate, EI/BMR) was used to assess the validity of the FFQ. Correlation analyses compared the SFHQ variables with those of the quantitative FFQ. Differences in dietary intakes between hospital and population controls were investigated. Odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were obtained using conditional logistic regression analyses. Results: The partial correlation coefficients were moderate to high (0.42 to 0.80; all p<0.05) for preserved food intake, fat consumption and tea drinking variables between the SFHQ and the FFQ. The average EI/BMR was 1.93 with 88.5% of subjects exceeding the Goldberg cut-off value of 1.35. Hospital controls were comparable to population controls in consumption of 17 measured food groups and mean daily intakes of energy and selected nutrients. Conclusions: The FFQ had reasonable validity to measure habitual dietary intakes of Chinese women. Hospital outpatients provide a satisfactory control group for food consumption and intakes of energy and nutrients measured by the FFQ in a Chinese hospital setting.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare nutrient intakes, blood lipids and bone density of male(n=69) and female(n=71) according to the obesity index by %Fat. The average energy intakes of obesity group was higher than normal group in male & female(p<0.001). The protein and fat intakes among three energy nutrients for male were higher than normal group(p<0.05~0.01), and carbohydrate intake of obesity group in female was higher than the other groups. TG, TC/HDL, blood glucose, blood pressure in male were higher than female(p<0.01~0.001), but HDL in male was lower than female. TC/HDL and diastolic blood pressure of obesity group were higher than normal group in male(p<0.05), but had not significant in female. Blood glucose in male was higher than female(p<0.001). T-score of forearm(=-1.26) and calcaneus(=0.42) for female were lower than male(=-0.63, 0.83), and T-score of calcaneus for obesity group(=1.03) in female was higher than normal group(=0.10). The T-score of forearm for obesity group in female was higher than the other group, but was not significant. These results suggest that ratio among three energy nutrients was kept balance for obesity group, especially, fat must be reduced in male than female, carbohydrate will be reduced in female than male to prevent obesity. Nutritional education for treatment obesity to prevent hyperlipidemia and arteriosclerosis is important for male too. T-score of forearm was lower than calcaneus in female, so exercise with arm than leg would be required to accumulate calcium in bone and to increase muscle to prevent osteoporosis.

  • This study was an attempt to investigate various factions, such as the calorie, nutrient intake, physical activity, blood lipids, obesity prevalence and body fat distribution on NIDDM male diabetics. General characteristics, physical activity and exercise levels of subjects were invesigated by interviewing, daily calorie and nutrient intake were measured by convenient method. The following anthropometric measurements were made on all participats : weight, height. Also waist and hip circumference were measured on 174 male diabetics to get waist-to-hip circumference ratio as index of the body fat distribution. For measurement of plasma lipids, 12-hour fasting blood samples were drawn The results of this study were summarized as follows : 1. At the onset of diabetes, the major self-diagnosed symptoms were polydipsia, fatigue, and body weight redution 2. The average of daily energy intake of male diabetics was 2106 Kcal which is 96% of the RDA Percentage of energy is that carbohydrate:protein : pat=70:14:16. 3. Among the NIDDM male subjects, 59% was exercise regularly. 4. Obese subjects above in the ideal body weight of 120% are presently 17%, but 39% of subjects were reported to be obese in the past. The mean BMI of the male NIDDM diabetics is 23.3${\pm}$2.6 and the past mean BMI was 25.2${\pm}$2.7 The mean WHR was 0.93${\pm}$0.10. 5. When diabetics were divided into obese and nonobese group according to RBW, energy intake, blood pressure, blood glucose and total cholesterol were not significantly different between the two groups, but LDL and VLDL-cholesterol were significantly higher in the obese group. 6. RBW did not correlate with cholesterol and triglyceride, but WHR correlated significantly with cholesterol and triglyceride. In conclusion, these results from a present study support previous findings indicating that not only the degree of obesity but also the localization of fat is a risk factor for diabetes.

  • This study was an investigation of nutrient intake and food habit of college students in Taegu. A total of 200 apparently healthy college students living in Taegu were selected for the study. The 24-hour recall were obtained from subjects. The following anthropometric measurements were made on all participants: weight, height, waist and hip circumferences, and bioimpedence. Dietary habits and energy expenditure were examined through questionnaires. Among the subjects 8.3% were obese and 17.7% were underweight in male and 38.8%, respectively. The average intake of nutrients and energy were below the RDA in male(except protein, vitamin C and phosphate) and female(except vitamin C and phosphate), whereas phosphorus intakes well exceed the RDAs for both groups. Lowest mean intake as percentile of RDA were calcium and riboflavin in male, and calcium and iron in female. The mean adequacy ratio(MAR), an index of overall dietary quality was 0.735 for males and 0.730 for females. The index of nutritional quality (INQ) were under 1.0 for vitamin A(0.91), B2(0.628), Ca(0.074), Fe(0.845) in male students and vitamin B2(0.752), Ca(0.649), Fe(0.594) in female students. The alcohol consumption level was negatively correlated (p<.05)with thiamin, ascorbic acid, carbohydrate, and energy consumption in male students. Also the alcohol consumption was negatively correlated (p<.05) with milk consumption in male students. Thus, unfavorable nutritional patterns of alcohol drinkers put them at double jeopardy regarding micronutrient intake and bone health. In conclusion, this study indicates that nutrient intake in the college student in Taegu is considerably lower than RDA. Another important finding of this study is that an unacceptable calcium and iron status was prevalent in a high percentage of subjects in the college student.

  • Recently, Korean people are consuming seaweeds almost 3.5 times more now than three decades ago. It is well known that seaweeds contain lots of soluble dietary fiber in addition to micronutrients such as ${\beta}$-carotene, iodine and some bioactive components. Seaweeds are considered to be effective for preventing chronic diseases including obesity, diabetes mellitus, atherosclerosis, cancer or constipation. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of seamustard intake on body weight gain, blood glucose level and lipid profiles in rats fed diets with different energy nutrient composition. Male Sprague-Dawley rats (average initial weight 103.7g) were divided into groups for two experiments as follows; Control, M2.5 & M5 groups (Exp. I) and M5, M10, HCM5, HCM10, HFM5 & HFM10 groups (Exp. II). The rats were fed diet and water ad libitum for 4 weeks. In general, there was no significant difference in blood glucose and triglyceride concentration among groups. In Exp. I, serum LDL-cholesterol level of rats fed diet with 5% seamustard powder (M5) was significantly lower than that of control group, while HDL-cholesterol level, TC/LDL ratio and weight of adrenal gland were higher. In Exp. II, food intake, body weight gain and EER of high fat diet with 10% seamustard group (HFM10) were the lowest among groups. Except gastrocnemius muscle, all organ weights of HFM10 group were the lowest. Fecal cholesterol excretion and serum LDL-cholesterol concentration of HFM10 group were the highest, while serum HDL-cholesterol level was the lowest among groups. Interestingly, HDL-cholesterol concentration was the highest in HCM5 group among groups. From these results, it was suggested that seamustard intake might be more effective for body weight control, but not for improving blood lipid profiles in high fat diet than in high carbohydrate diet.

  • The CIIR blends, which is use for shoes outsole, with SSBR, XNBR and KBR were prepared with various mixing ratio. The viscoelastic properties of these blends, such as tensile modulus, rebound resilience, storage modulus, tan${\delta}$, and creep properties were measured. In the rebound resilience measurement, KBR showed the highest value, which means the lowest energy absorption to stress. As SSBR, XNBR and KBR blends with CIIR, the rebound resilience of the mixtures showed tendency to increase in arithmetic average. In the creep measurement, CIIR showed the highest visconse strain to stress, SSBR and KBR showed lower visconse strain. Maximum tan${\delta}$ peak of CIIR, SSBR and XNBR appeared at $-30^{\circ}C$, $5^{\circ}C$ and $0^{\circ}C$ respectively.

  • In the present work, planar-type ZnO powder of [0001] plane with a high aspect ratio range of 20:1 to 50:1 was synthesized. Ag or CuO could be coated on the planar-type ZnO powder by wet methods such as centrifugation or ball milling. During the coating, the average size of the powder was slightly increased while maintaining the shape and XRD pattern of ZnO. When Ag or CuO was coated, the absolute value of the zeta potential, as well as the concentration of oxygen vacancy, was increased. Ag or CuO coated planar-type ZnO power exhibited excellent antibacterial performance, which seems to be related to their high electrostatic attraction force. They could be made into a masterbatch by mixing with ABS resin, and their applicability to antibacterial substances was confirmed by manufacturing the caps of a keyboard.

  • Oxygen consumption (OC), ammonia nitrogen (AN ) excretion and body composition were measured to study the effects of energy/protein ratio (EPR) on the utilization of protein and energy in juvenile rockfish, Sebastes schiegeli. Juvenile rockfish were divided into three groups that they fed three isocaloric diets (3,5kcal/g) containing 30 (I), 40 (II) or $50\%$ crude protein (III). EPR of the three experimental diets were 11.5 (I), 8.7 (II) and 7.0kcal/g III), respectively. Juvenile rockfish (wet wt. 2.9-3.1g) were cultured in 501 aquaria with the constant environmental condition of $20-24^{\circ}C$ water temperature and $34\%o$ salinity. For 24 hr after feeding the diets, juvenile rockfish fed diet III had a higher OC than did the fish from groups fed diets I and II, and average OC of the fish fed diets I, II and III were $0,93\pm0.02^a,\;0.92\pm0.02^a\;and\;1.03\pm0.03^bml\;O_2/g/h$, respectively. AN responses of juvenile rockfish to increasing levels of dietary protein (decreasing dietary EPR) were significantly different among three groups in which dietary protein at elevated levels increased the excretion of AN for 24 hr after feeding the diets. Average AN excretion of the fish fed diets I, II and III were $9.14\pm0.39^a,\;12.41\pm 0.53^a\;and\;14.89\pm0.55^c\;{\mu}g\;N/g/h$ respectively. The body protein content of the fish fed diet II for 59 days was significantly higher than that of the fish fed the other diets. But, there were no significant differences between three groups in body lipid, carbohydrate and ash contents. These results indicate that EPR of 9.7kcal/g (diet II) could be a optimum EPR in juvenile rockfish diet.
