  • This paper presents development of a vehicle lateral and longitudinal control for autonomous driving control and test results obtained using an electric vehicle. Sliding control theory has been used to develop a vehicle speed and distance control algorithm. The longitudinal control algorithm that maintains safety and comfort of the vehicle consists of a cruise and STOP&GO control depending on traffic conditions. Desired steering angle is determined through the lateral position error and the yaw angle error based on preview optimal control. Motor control inputs have been directly derived from the sliding control law. The performance of the autonomous driving control which is integrated with a lateral and longitudinal control is investigated by computer simulations and driving test using an electric vehicle.   • In this paper, a real-time collision avoidance algorithm is proposed for experimental Autonomous Vehicle(XAV). To ensure real-time implementation, a virtual potential field is calculated in one dimensional space. The attractive force is generated by the steering command either transmitted in the remote control station or calculated in the Autonomous Navigation System(ANS) of the XAV. The repulsive force is generated by obstacle information obtained from Laser Range Finder(LRF) mounted on the XAV. Using these attractive and repulsive forces, modified steering, velocity and emergency stop commands are created to avoid obstacles and follow a planned path. The suggested algorithm is inserted as one component in the XAV system. Through various real experiments and technical demonstration using the XAV, the usefulness and practicality of the proposed algorithm are verified.

  • This paper describes a lateral guidance system of an autonomous vehicle, using a neural network model of magneto-resistive sensor and magnetic fields. The model equation was compared with experimental sensing data. We found that the experimental result has a negligible difference from the modeling equation result. We verified that the modeling equation can be used in simulations. As the neural network controller acquires magnetic field values(B$\_$x/, B$\_$y/, B$\_$z/) from the three-axis, the controller outputs a steering angle. The controller uses the back-propagation algorithms of neural network. The learning pattern acquisition was obtained using computer simulation, which is more exact than human driving. The simulation program was developed in order to verify the acquisition of the teaming pattern, teaming itself, and the adequacy of the design controller. The performance of the controller can be verified through simulation. The real autonomous electric vehicle using neural network controller verified good results.

  • In this paper, we present model predictive control (MPC) applied to lane keeping system (LKS) based on a vision module. Due to a slow sampling rate of the vision system, the conventional LKS using single rate control may result in uncomfortable steering control rate in a high vehicle speed. By applying MPC using multi-rate Kalman filter to active steering control, the proposed MPC-based active steering control system prevents undesirable saturated steering control command. The effectiveness of the MPC is validated by simulations for the LKS equipped with a camera module having a slow sampling rate on the curved lane with the minimum radius of 250[m] at a vehicle speed of 30[m/s].

  • This paper contains studies which are Cruise speed control which is made by PID algorithm and automated steering system for avoiding the obstacle coming from the front which is using Fuzzy algorithm. This mobile car uses DC motor whose speed is detected by encoder. Ultrasonic Waves Sensor established in the front detects the obstacle and the curve. And the sensor established in the side detects the distance of the space of the road. If the sensor detects the obstacle or the curve, the car is controlled by using Fuzzy algorithm. The Fuzzy algorithm calculates the speed and steering angle by using the value which is obtained from sensor.

  • Recently, the progress of industrialization has been taken concern of material handling automation. So for, the conveyor belt has been popular for material handling. However, this system has many disadvantages such as the space, cost, etc. In this paper, a new navigation algorithm using fuzzy is introduced. The mobile robot follows a line installed on the roads. These informations are inputted with three approximate sensors. These obtained informations are analyzed with fuzzy control technique fur autonomous steering. Therefore, unlike existing systems, high reliability is guaranteed under bad environment conditions. The installation and maintenance of a line is easily made at lower cost. This developed mobile robot can be applied to material handling automation in manufacturing system, hospital, inter-office document del ivory.

  • 선박 자율운항시스템(autonomous navigation system)이란 선박운항에 있어 항해계획을 수립하고 현재의 선박운항 상태를 파악하여 주변 상황변화를 예측하고 대처하는 항해 전문가의 능력을 전산화한 것이다. 선박 자율운항시스템은 항해, 충돌회피, 선체유지, 자료융합, 운동제어 그리고 이를 통합하는 아키텍처로 구성되어 있다. 운동제어시스템은 선박의 유체학적 특성을 고려하여 해도 상에 원하는 위치로 선박을 이동하기 위해서 추진 및 조타장치를 제어하는 시스템으로 자율운항제어시스템에 필수적인 구성 시스템 중에 하나이다. 본 논문은 운영플랫폼인 가상세계시스템을 기반으로 운영되는 선박자율운항시스템과 운동제어시스템의 연동과 구현에 관한 연구이다. 운동제어시스템은 충돌회피시스템으로부터 상위 레벨의 고수준제어 요구치를 전달받아 조타 및 추진치로 변환하고 조타장치와 추진장치를 제어하는 시스템이다. 본 논문에서 선박 운동 특성을 수학적으로 모방하는 Oldenburger의 제어 이론에 기반하여 선박운동제어기를 개발하고 성능검정을 위해 선박시뮬레이터에서 다양한 시나리오를 바탕으로 시뮬레이션 한다.

  • In this paper, we propose waste collection vehicle system with a safety device for worker safety and an autonomous driving function. The steering system is applied as MDPS (Motor Drive Power Steering) system to control the waste collection vehicle of the internal combustion engine. Safety-related errors is prevented through redundancy brake of the integrated system and the control braking system. In order to ensure safety between workers and waste collection vehicles, work guidelines and safety devices for emergency stop in case of danger are applied to vehicles. In addition, this research is conducted on improving the working efficiency through vehicle condition monitoring system and a short-range control system for field test. This research is aimed to secure stability through demonstration and contribute to the industrialization of unmanned waste collection vehicles.

  • In this paper we present an real-time obstacle avoidance technique of autonomous mobile robot with steering system and implementation of user interface for mobile devices with Android platform. The direction of autonomous robot is determined by virtual force field concept, which is based on the distance information acquired from 5 ultrasonic sensors. It is converted to virtual repulsive force around the autonomous robot which is inversely proportional to the distance. The steering system with PD(proportional and derivative) controller moves the mobile robot to the determined target direction. We also use PSD(position sensitive detector) sensors to supplement ultrasonic sensors around dead angle area. The mobile robot communicates with Android mobile device and PC via Ethernet. The video information from CMOS camera mounted on the mobile robot is transmitted to Android mobile device and PC. And the user can control the mobile robot manually by transmitting commands on the user interface to it via Ethernet.
