The paper presents an Experimental Vehicle Model (EVM), that utilizes the kinematic characteristics of suspensions from SPMD test data. The relative displacement and orientation of a wheel with respect to the body are represented as a function of the vertical displacement of the wheel. The equations of motion of the vehicle are formulated in terms of local coordinates that do not require coordinate transformation, which improves the efficiency of dynamic analysis. The EOM was modularized for each suspension model, and a $6{\times}6$ vehicle model was obtained by combining six suspensions. The analysis results were compared with ADAMS to verify the accuracy of the EVM. This study also verifies the feasibility of real-time simulation with the developed EVM. For a vehicle simulation for 1 ms, the real simulation time required within 20% of the prescribed time. This result shows that the EVM meets the real-time simulation requirements.

The armature core is a part responsible for the skeleton of the steering wheel. Currently, in the case of commercial trucks, the main parts of the parts are manufactured separately and then the product is produced through welding. In the case of this production method, quality and cost problems of the welded parts occur, and an integrated armature core made of magnesium alloy is used in passenger vehicles. However, in the case of commercial trucks, there is no application case and research is insufficient. Therefore, this study aims to develop an all-in-one armature core that simultaneously applies a magnesium alloy material and a die casting method to reduce the weight and improve the quality of the existing steel armature core. The product was modeled based on the shape of a commercial product, and finite element analysis (FEA) was performed through Ls-dyna, a general-purpose analysis program. Through digital image correlation (DIC) and uniaxial tensile test, the accurate physical properties of the material were obtained and applied to the analysis. A total of four types of compression were applied by changing the angle and ground contact area of the product according to the actual reliability test conditions. analysis was carried out. As a result of FEA, it was confirmed that damage occurred in the spoke area, and spoke thickness (tspoke), base thickness (tbase), and rim and spoke connection (R) were designated as design variables, and the total weight and maximum equivalent stress occurring in the armature core We specify an objective function that simultaneously minimizes . A prediction function was derived using the sequential response surface method to identify design variables that minimized the objective function, and it was confirmed that it was improved by 22%.
In order that the track vehicle utilized on the purpose of heavy industry and military affair may endure the vehicle body with heavy weight, the link surrounding the mobile wheel is affected with the great force by the load transferred at the vehicle body. This happened force gives rise to a decline in the durability throughout the track. In this paper, the models with the shapes of track pads in common use are designed and the model at which the wear of track pad and the damage of link can be decreased effectively is contrived. Also, by applying this study result to the design of track vehicle, it can contribute to the safe design for damage prevention and durability improvement. It is possible to be grafted onto the convergence technique at the designed factor of pad shape and show the esthetic sense.

In this study, we perform the optimization of trailing arm bush in a vehicle rear suspension to improve the ride and handling performance. A design problem was formulated considering 2 objective functions and 7 constraints related to vehicle ride and handling performance. PIAnO, one of the PIDO (Process Integration and Design Optimization) tool, was used to automate analysis procedures and perform a design optimization. In order to assess relation between performances and design variables, we perform the DOE (Design of Experiments). To find the optimal solution, we used Progressive quadratic response surface method (PQRSM), one of the design optimization techniques equipped in PIAnO. As an optimization result, we got an optimal solution and could improve lateral force steer off-center by 43.0% while decreasing brake compliance at wheel center by 8.1%.

Generally, high-temperature, high-pressure, high-priced sintering equipment is used for diamond sintering, and conductivity is a problem for improving the surface modification of the sintered body. In this study, to improve the efficiency of diamond sintering, we identified a new process and material that can be sintered at low temperature, and attempted to develop a composite thin film that can be discharged by doping boron gas to improve the surface modification of the sintered body. Sintered bodies were sintered by mixing Si and two diamonds in different particle sizes based on CIP molding and HIP molding. In CVD deposition, CVD was performed using WC-Co cemented carbide using CH4 and H2 gas, and the specimen was made conductive using boron gas. According to the experimental results of the sintered body, as the Si content is increased, the Vickers hardness decreases drastically, and the values of tensile strength, Young's modulus and fracture toughness greatly increase. Conductive CVD deposited diamond was boron deposited and discharged. As the amount of boron added increased, the strength of diamond peaks decreased and crystallinity improved. In addition, considering the release processability, tool life and adhesion of the deposition surface according to the amount of boron added, the appropriate amount of boron can be confirmed. Therefore, by solving the method of low temperature sintering and conductivity problem, the possibility of solving the existing sintering and deposition problem is presented.
The purpose of this paper is to study for turbocharger system in a vehicle of diesel engine. The first example, it certified the fact that a car engine is not to accelerate by clogged the exhaust tube as the turbine was damaged because of turbine wheel broken. The a vehicle with turbocharger must to stop engine operation after maintaining the appropriate idle revolution as it can be the sticking phenomenon if the operator immediately stop the engine being high revolution. The second example, it knew the phenomenon of acceleration faulty that the rod of VGT actuator that operating the turbocharger adhered with the bracket of VGT. The third example, it confirmed the power insufficiency phenomenon when driving by of alternator resistor and fan intercooler fan relay connector mistaken assembly. Therefore, the operator have to scrutinize manage no the failure of turbocharger system.

At the initial design stage of a new vehicle, the chassis layout has the most important influence on the overall vehicle performance. Most chassis designers have achieved the target performances by trial and error method as well as individual knowhow. Accordingly, a general procedure for determining the optimum location of suspension hard points with respect to the kinematic characteristics needs to be developed. In this paper, a method to optimize the toe angle in the double wishbone type front suspension of the four-wheel-drive vehicle is presented using the design of experiment, multibody dynamic simulation, and optimum design program. The handling performances of two full vehicle models having the initial and optimized toe angle are compared through the single lane change simulation. The sensitive design variables with respect to the kinematic characteristics are selected through the experimental design sensitivity analysis using the perturbation method. An object function is defined in terms of the toe angle among those kinematic characteristics. By the design of experiment and regression analysis, the regression model function of toe angle is obtained. The design variables which make the toe angle optimized ae extracted using the optimum design program DOT. The single lane change simulation and test of the full vehicle model are carried out to survey the handling performances of vehicle with toe angle optimized. The results of the single lane change simulation show that the optimized vehicle has the more improved understeer tendency than the initial vehicle.
Rubber hose assembly for automotive hydraulic brake during operation is subject to combined stresses of cyclic pressure, cyclic bending and torsion as well as thermal load. The rubber hose is composed of ethylene-propylene diene monomer(EPDM) rubber layers reinforced by polyvinyl acetate(PVA) braided fabrics. A durability tester with loading rigs for inducing the above cyclic stresses was used to investigate failure mechanisms in the rubber hose assembly. Failure examination was performed at every 100 thousands cycles of bending and torsion. Hose samples were sectioned with a diamond-wheel cutter and then polished. The polished surface was observed by optical microscope and scanning electron microscope (SEM). Some interfacial delamination with a length of about 1mm along the interface between EPDM rubber and PVA fabrics was shown at the test cycles of 400,000. The delamination induced some cracking into the outer rubber skin layer to leading the final rupture of the hose.
The purpose of this paper is to study and analyze the improvement method for the failure examples including the vehicle brake system in actual field. It was verified that the indicator plate of pad wear scratched the brake disk because of wearing after displacement of non- identification parts pad. The caliper of other vehicle was installed with brake system verified the phenomenon produced groove in center point because of one side wear when the pad was not fully contacted with the rub disk by other action surface pressure and pad action condition. It verified that the crack phenomenon fatigue was produced by brake thermal deformation because of decreasing the thickness by grinding to modify the non-uniformed wear of brake disk. It verified that the friction sound was produced by the friction phenomenon because of non-uniformed contact of lining and an alien substance with inner of the drum and lining braking by crack phenomenon with brake drum surface.

An elastomeric bushing is a device used in automotive suspension systems to reduce the load transmitted from the wheel to the frame of the vehicle. A bushing is an elastomeric hollow cylinder which is bonded to a solid steel shaft at its inner surface and a steel sleeve at its outer surface. The relation between the load applied to the shaft or sleeve and the relative deformation of elastomeric bushing is nonlinear and exhibits features of viscoelasticity. A load-displacement relation for elastomeric bushing is important for dynamic numerical simulations. A boundary value problem for the bushing response leads to the load-displacement relation which requires complex calculations. Therefore, by modifying the constitutive equation fur a nonlinear viscoelastic incompressible material developed by Lianis, the data fur the elastomeric bushing material was obtained and this data was used to derive the new load-displacement relation for radial response of the bushing. After the load relaxation function for the bushing is obtained from the step displacement control test, Pipkin-Rogers model was developed, Solutions were allowed fur comparison between the results of Modified Lianis model and those of the proposed model. It is shown that the proposed Pipkin-Rogers model is in very good agreement with Modified Lianis model.
