Structural Strength Analysis at Cushion Frame and Back Frame of Automotive Seat (자동차 시트 쿠션 프레임 및 백 프레임의 구조 강도 해석)

  • Among the various parts of automobile, automotive seat is the most fundamental item that ride comfort can be evaluated as the direct contact part with human body. Automotive seat must have the sufficient rigidity and strength at the same time with ride comfort. In this study, cushion frame and back frame at car seat are modelled with 3D. There are structural simulation analyses about 3 kinds of tests on torsion strength, vertical load strength and back frame strength. In the analysis result, the initial total deformation and the permanent total deformation has the maximum values of 5.4821 mm and 0.02539mm respectively at the torsion strength test of cushion frame. Total deformations at front and rear end parts of cushion frame become the values of 2.1159mm and 0.0606mm respectively at the test of vertical load strength of cushion frame. In case of more than this load, the maximum value of total deformation also becomes 3.1739mm. The maximum value of total deformation becomes 0.18634mm at 3 kinds of the strength tests on back frame. By the study result of no excessive deformation and no fracture cushion frame and back frame at automotive seat, the sufficient rigidity and strength to guarantee the safety of passenger can be verified.

  • The strength of the mounting bolt of a backing plate is investigated with field test to provide the basic data in the safety evaluation of the wheeled vehicle. As a result, during the braking performance test at a vehicle speed of 32km/h, the shearing stress of mounting bolt is 20.5kg/mm$^{2}$ because the translatory mass of the vehicle is increased 21.6 per cent to incorporate the rotating-mass effect of wheels and other permanently engaged rotating parts.

  • CAFE(기업평균연비) 규제의 적극적 대응책의 하나로 차체 경량화가 주목받고 있다. 이를 위해 사용되는 고분자 복합소재 중 특히 Exterior Body Panel에 많이 채택되고 있는 SMC(Sheet Molding Compound)에 대해 제조방법, 성형공정, 기술적 과제, 재활용, 적용 예 등을 살펴보았다. 1973년 GM의 Corvette로부터 본격적으로 사용되기 시작한 SMC는 미국, 유럽을 중심으로 사용량이 계속 증가되고 있으며, 자동화가 용이하고 성형Cycle이 짧아 타 열경화성 고분자복합재료 성형방법에 비해 대량생산에 유리하며, 도장 특성이 우수하며 자 동차 부품용으로 가장 보편적인 방식이다.

  • This study investigates solving production problems in an automotive stamping plant using Finite Element (FE) analysis. The fundamentals of stamping, metal plasticity and FE analysis are developed. In this paper, we provide the basis for a simulation of the stamping of a production part, the automotive rear floorpan. On-plant factorial Design of Experiments (DoE) were simulated using the floorpan model. The accuracy of the simulations was undetermined because of variability in the DoE results. Predictions of flange shape, wrinkling and thickness show qualitative agreement with manufactured parts and indicate that simulating an industrial part is feasible.

  • This paper presents a vibration analysis method of crank shaft of six cylinder internal combustion engine. For simple analysis journal, pin and arm parts were assumed to have uniform section. Transfer Matrix Method was used, considering branched part and coordinate transformation part. Natural frequencies, modeshapes and transfer functions of crank shaft were investigated based upon the Euler beam theory: It was shown that the calculated natural frequencies, modeshapes agree well with the existing paper results.

  • This paper presents case studies on the oil related failures in automotive engines. In this study, engine oils play an important roles as a friction reducing matehals and should be supplied to a tribological machine elements sufficiently. The starvation or depletion of a lubricant may seriously produce the tribological failures on the rubbing parts of the engine.
