A Study on the Development of Quality Inspection System for Connector Components Used in Automotive Wiring (자동차 배선용 커넥터 부품의 품질 검사 시스템 개발에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, a quality inspection system was developed to identify the defective assembly of connectors used in automobile wiring. For waterproof connectors, an internal seal must be inserted for waterproofing. However, there are cases where it is omitted or double-inserted during production. An automatic inspection jig was designed using photosensors and touch switches to classify good and bad connector components. In the case of the existing visual inspection, 6,400 connectors were inspected when 5 people inspected for 8 hours. However, when using the inspection jig developed under the same conditions, 20,000 pieces were inspected. In other words, the productivity is greatly improved compared to the conventional visual inspection.

  • A deep-sea pressure vessel needs to protect the internal electrical equipment from the high external pressure. Thus, the pressure vessel should be designed to be watertight and structurally safe. In this study, a cylindrical-type pressure vessel comprising a hollow cylinder and cover plates at both ends is investigated. For communication between the internal electronic equipment and the external device, holes are bored on the cover plate to install underwater connectors. Considering the type of internal equipment and underwater connector specifications, multiple holes may be required. These holes can affect the structural safety of the pressure vessel cover plate. In this study, the optimum design of the hole arrangement in consideration of the structural safety of the cover plate was performed.

  • According to the increase of intelligent vehicles many automotive electric components are installed. The wire harness which connects those also increases. The crimping process for compressing the copper wire bundle into the terminal is a key process to assure the good quality of wire harness. For the case of inadequate forming condition many shape failures such as less-filling, over-filling are happen in the crimping process. Even though the quality of crimping shape is satisfactory the quality check for electrical resistance of wire harness is sometime not satisfied the qualification due to large variation of electrical resistance of wire harness under climate test. This large variation is thought to be related with the malfunction automotive electric system and caused by the internal stress of wire, which occurred during the crimping process. In this paper we develop the 3D-FEM simulation scheme and design methodology of optimum terminal shape. Also the effect of terminal shape on the residual stress is discussed.

Failure Case Studies of Sensors for Electronic Controlled Engine in LPG Vehicle (LPG 자동차에서 전자제어엔진용 센서의 고장사례에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this paper analyzes and investigates the failure case studies of electronic control sensors for a LP gas engine. The malfunction of crank angle sensor, which controls a fuel injection volume of LP gas, displays an irregular and non-uniform pulse wave form. The pulse form, which is related to the noise of the crank angle sensor, displays at the rectangular peak with a saw-toothed shape and is intermittently generated with a level of 2.46V noise signal. The malfunction of No. 1 TDC sensor in which is caused from the internal disorder affects to the reduction of engine power and engine stop suddenly. If the malfunction of oxygen sensor is occurred due to a wiring problem of a sensor connector, the LP gas vehicle may produce a shaking and disharmony of an engine because of no signal supply from the oxygen sensor. The air cleaner replica produces the clogging of continuous supply of fresh air. This may cause the retardation of vehicle acceleration and engine disharmony intermittently.
