  • Recently, the trends of industrial products grow more miniaturization, variety and mass production. Micro drilling which take high precision in cutting work is requested more micro hole and high speed working. Especially, Micro deep hole drilling is becoming more important in a wide spectrum of precision production industries, ranging from the production of automotive fuel injection nozzle, watch and camera parts, medical needles, and thick multi-layered Printed Circuit Boards(PCB) that are demanded for very high density electric circuitry. This paper shows the tool monitoring results of micro drill with tool dynamometer. And additionally, microscope with built-in monitor inspection show the relationship between burr in workpiece and chip form of micro drill machining.

Development of an optimal measuring device selection system using neural networks (Neural Network을 이용한 최적 측정장비 결정 시스템 개발)

  • Various types of measuring devices are used for reverse engineering and inspection in different fields of industry such as automotive, aerospace, computer graphics, and home appliance. In order to measure a part easily and efficiently, it is important to select appropriate measuring device considering the characteristics of each measuring machine and part information. In this research, an optimal measuring device selection system using neural networks is proposed. There are two major steps: Firstly, the measuring information such as curvature, normal, type of surface, edge, and facet approximation is extracted from the CAD model. Second, the best suitable measuring device is proposed using the neural network system based on the knowledge of the measuring parameters and the measuring resources. An example of machine selection is implemented to evaluate the performance of the system.

  • Most of automotive plastic parts are injection molding products. Inspection of total product is impossible, because number of product to inspect is too many and various. Condition-based Monitoring was proposed to decrease cost and time for inspecting. In this research, a system that predicts quality of part at fabrication point of time, and confirms informations through the internet was developed. Cavity sensors were installed inside of mold, and gathered signals as measuring, and through this process Sensor-based Monitoring system can be observed manufacturing of a part. Monitoring system transmits signals to client through the internet, and finally developed system provides manufacturing informations and predictions of quality as web-based monitoring.

Failure analysis on the phenomenon of water condensing of automotive head lamp assembly (자동차용 head lamp의 수밀원인 분석)

  • In this study, we try to find the root cause of water condensing failures in a headlamp using chemical and mechanical analysis. Through the surface inspection by OM, SEM and CT, it was found that water infiltrate into the headlamp through hotmelt adhesive debonding part caused by adhesion force degradation and poor quality. IR spectra shows that adhesion force degradation are characterized by increase of some functional group(1742, 1710, 1649, 1016). Through the ESPI measurement, it is turned out that bonding structural change by thermal expansion and degradation of adhesive can be the cause of void generation. So it is recommended that cooling passage and the bonding part should be redesigned to give a guarantee of less thermal stress and high adhesion quality.

  • The purpose of this study is development of the diagnosis system to preventative maintenance in the on-board measuring systems for in-cab electric inspection systems of high speed railway. The on-board measuring systems can inspect precisely whether ground signal system operate stably. In this paper, we recognize characteristics of the track circuits and confirm whether the wave of current matches the on-board measuring data through the electric modeling method for high speed railway. it is necessary to develop GUI visual programs that can simulate abnormalities of the on-board measuring data in many ways, and the visual program is designed to diagnosis in the case of track circuit equipment's function decreased in advance.

Application of deep learning technique for battery lead tab welding error detection (배터리 리드탭 압흔 오류 검출의 딥러닝 기법 적용)

  • In order to replace the sampling tensile test of products produced in the tab welding process, which is one of the automotive battery manufacturing processes, vision inspectors are currently being developed and used. However, the vision inspection has the problem of inspection position error and the cost of improving it. In order to solve these problems, there are recent cases of applying deep learning technology. As one such case, this paper tries to examine the usefulness of applying Faster R-CNN, one of the deep learning technologies, to existing product inspection. The images acquired through the existing vision inspection machine are used as training data and trained using the Faster R-CNN ResNet101 V1 1024x1024 model. The results of the conventional vision test and Faster R-CNN test are compared and analyzed based on the test standards of 0% non-detection and 10% over-detection. The non-detection rate is 34.5% in the conventional vision test and 0% in the Faster R-CNN test. The over-detection rate is 100% in the conventional vision test and 6.9% in Faster R-CNN. From these results, it is confirmed that deep learning technology is very useful for detecting welding error of lead tabs in automobile batteries.

A Study on Tuning Effects of Intake Manifold, Intake Pipe and Air Filter upon Performance and Exhaust Emissions of Driving Car (운행자동차 성능 및 배기 배출물에 미치는 흡기 다기관, 흡기 파이프 및 공기필터의 튜닝효과에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the possibility of effective tuning works, understand the characteristics of tuning engine, and analyse the basic data of engine tuning inspection corresponding to the safe operation and environment of a driving gasoline car. The effects of tuning on the characteristics of performance and exhaust emissions under a wide range of engine speeds are experimentally investigated by the actual driving car with a four-cycle, four-cylinder DOHC, turbo-intercooler, water-cooled gasoline engine operating at four types of non-tuning, tuning 1, 2 and 3. The tuning parts in the gasoline engine are the intake manifold, intake pipe and air filter. In the experiment, the output, torque and air-fuel ratio of the five-speed automatic transmission vehicles were measured at the chassis dynamometer(Dynojet 224xLC) with one person on board. The exhaust emissions of $NO_X$, THC, CO, $O_2$ and $CO_2$, and excess air ratio(${\lambda}$) at the other chassis dynamometer(DASAN-MD-ASM-97-KR-HD) were also measured by the idle/constant-speed mode(ASM2525 mode) test method. It is found that the actual air-fuel ratios of non-tuning and tuning engines were shown to be lower than the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio with increasing engine speed, and the actual air-fuel ratio of non-tuning engine was slightly higher than those of tuning engines when the engine speed is more than 4000 rpm. The output was significantly increased by the tuning whereby the maximum output of tuning engine was more increased to approximately 117.64% than that of non-tuning engine. In addition, CO, THC and $NO_X$ emissions of non-tuning and tuning engines measured by the constant-speed test mode were all satisfied with the inspection standards. CO emission was increased, while THC and $NO_X$ emissions were reduced by tuning.

Study on the Characteristics of Exhaust Emissions in accordance with the Intake Manifold and Fuel Injector Maintenance of the Electronic Control Diesel Engine (전자제어 디젤엔진의 흡기 다기관 및 연료분사장치 정비에 따른 매연 배출특성에 관한 연구)

  • The exhaust gas discharged by cars not only threatens the health of the human body, but also contributes to global warming, due to the resulting increase in the concentrations of ozone, fine dust and carbon dioxide. Therefore, the government has steadily implemented careful inspection systems for exhaust emissions, in order to efficiently regulate the exhaust gas of cars. Studies on reducing the exhaust emissions of automobiles have been conducted in various fields, including ones designed to reduce the generation of HC, NOx, and $CO_2$ in the exhaust emission of vehicles. However, there have been insufficient studies on the reduction of the exhaust emission for old diesel vehicles. To develop careful inspection systems for the exhaust emissions of old diesel vehicles, studies on the reduction of the exhaust emissions and improvement of power are necessary by cleaning the carbon sediment in both the intake manifold and injector. Therefore, in this study, we analyzed and compared the amounts of gas emitted when simultaneously cleaning or not cleaning the intake manifold and injector of diesel automobiles with mileages over 80,000 km and operating periods over 5 years. The experimental results showed that in the case where the intake manifold and injector were simultaneously cleaned, there was a decline of 75.2% in the gas emission compared to the cases where only the manifold or injector is cleaned. Also, it was found that simultaneously cleansing the intake manifold and injector enabled the exhaust standard to be satisfied for less than 30% within 8.5 sec.

Design and Implement a Smart Automobile Self-Diagnosis System based on The Driving information (자동차 주행정보를 활용한 스마트 자동차 자가 점검 시스템 설계 및 구현)

  • In order to drive a vehicle safely, driver needs to check status of the car. Many moderns are having trouble to spare time to visit auto mechanic and have car mechanics to check their car other than their office hours. If the car status cannot be inspected regularly, it is likely to cause a big accident threatening the surroundings as well as driver's life. Inspection tool and system help driver to check their own vehicle status personally are required for preventing it. In this paper, it designed and realized system that records driving information based on changing data of vehicle (location and automotive internal data) and allows driver can check the vehicle status easily and further, driver can share the driving information with repair shop via the Internet to receive detailed inspection service for car status.

According to the type of commercial antifreeze experimental study of vehicle emissions (상용부동액 종류에 따른 자동차 배출가스의 실험적 연구)

  • The automotive exhaust gases generated by the vehicles containing carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and lead, is a large concern because of their harm to human health or the living environment. To reduce exhaust gas, it is important to develop a variety of techniques that are currently being used by elemental analysis to determine the optimal conditions. In this study, the anti-freeze coolant contained in the exhaust gas was examined, which can affect the emissions. The effects of the commercially available coolant from five domestic companies on the HC, NOx and $CO_2$ emissions were analyzed to determine the optimal amount of antifreeze. In addition, antifreeze products from the five companies were analyzed with respect to driving time of the cooling fan and the correlation of the NOx emission analysis. The temperature of the engine oil was matched using a manual gear of small passenger inspection standard speed $40{\pm}2Km/h$ so the vehicle could meet the specifications for inspection $90{\sim}93^{\circ}C$. The Company D fan operation time resulted in the shortest antifreeze, $CO_2$ and NOx emissions.
