This paper develops a decentralized advanced traveler information system (ATIS) under the connected vehicle environment, recently regarded as one of most promising tools in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). The performance of the proposed ATIS is reinforced by introducing autonomous automatic incident detection (AAID) function. The proposed ATIS is implemented and tested using an off-the-shelf microscopic simulation model (VISSIM) on a simple traffic network under idealized communication conditions. A key attribute of this experiment is the inclusion of a non-recurrent traffic state (i.e., traffic incident). Simulation results indicate that the ATIS using V2V communication is efficient in saving drivers' travel time and AAID plays an important role in improving the effectiveness of the system.

This paper suggests a new system based on image-processed information which is designed to control traffic light by measuring two-way traffic at the same time with a surveillance camera. With this system, the existing way of using one camera for one lane or loop coil will be improved to the more effective way of using only one camera to monitor a two-way, 8 lane roads statistically. Car images can be detected clearly even in irregular condition because of the background updating in real time. In addition, more accurate measurement is possible to users by selecting extra attention-needed regions. The automatic traffic light controlling algorithm, suggested in this paper, will prevent users and drivers from wasting their time and energy by controlling the number of traffic in advance.

To increase road safety at blackspots, it is needed to develop a new method that can process before accident occurrence. Accident situation could result from traffic conflict. Traffic conflict decision technique has an advantage that can acquire and analyze data in time and confined space that is less through investigation. Therefore, traffic conflict technique is highly expected to be used in many application of road safety. This study developed traffic conflict decision program that can analyze and process from signalized intersection image. Program consists of the following functional modules: an image input module that acquires images from the CCTV camera, a Save-to-Buffer module which stores the entered images by differentiating them into background images, current images, difference images, segmentation images, and a conflict detection module which displays the processed results. The program was developed using LabVIEW 8.5 (a graphic language) and the VISION module library.

The HF band maritime communication is have developing to digital methode that techniques should be readied the automatic link establishment of 1:N by coast station to many ship station. Because can use way by polling simply that communication environment calls particular station wicked fellow HF communication states which is much redundancy times for coast station to set link. In amateur radio particular station selective calling do to be using ALE(Automatic Link Establishment) controller by 1:1 automatic link setting way, but expect 1:N link setting by these way in maritime communication very difficult. That is difficult to avoid collision by traffic overload to induce calling of ship stations. Because HF communication considers channel special quality traffic state radio link should be established, and should be applied automatically secures stability of channel as accommodative at traffic overload. In this paper is studied the new radio protocol by 3 step sequency driving of free access, group free access and polling access using multi-tone in single channel.
Due to the bandwidth-consuming characteristics of the heavy-hitter P2P applications, it has become critical to have the capability of pinpointing and mitigating P2P traffic. Traditional port-based classification scheme is no more adequate for this purpose because of newer P2P applications, which incorporating port-hopping techniques or disguising themselves as HTTP-based Internet disk services. Alternatively, packet filtering scheme based on payload signatures suggests more practical and accurate solution for this problem. Moreover, it can be easily deployed on existing IDSes. However, it is significantly difficult to maintain up-to-date signatures of P2P applications. Hence, the automatic signature generation method is essential and will be useful for successful signature-based traffic identification. In this paper, we suggest an automatic signature generation method for Internet disk P2P applications and provide an experimental results on CNU campus network.

Recently, more accurate database information of facilities is being required, with the increase in importance of urban road facility management. Therefore, this study proposed how to automatically detect particular traffic signs necessary for efficient construction of road facility DB. For this study, central locations of facilities were searched, after recognition and automatic detection of particular traffic signs through an image. Then, coordinate values of traffic signs calculated in the study were compared with real coordinate values, in order to evaluate the accuracy of traffic sign locations which were finally detected. Computer vision technology was used in recognizing and detecting traffic signs through OPEN CV-based coding, and photogrammetry was used in calculating accurate locations of detected traffic signs. For the experiment, circular road signal(No Parking) and triangular road signal(Crosswalk) were chosen out of various kinds of road signals. The research result showed that the circular road signal had a nearly 50cm error value, and the triangular road signal had a nearly 60cm error value, when comparing the calculated coordinates with the real coordinates. Though this result is not satisfactory, it is considered that there would be no problem to find locations of traffic signs.

Traffic sign detection is the domain of automatic driver assistant systems. There are literatures for traffic sign detection using color information, however, color-based method contains ill-posed condition and to extract the region of interest is difficult. In our work, we propose a method for traffic sign detection using k-means clustering method, back-propagation neural network, and projection histogram features that yields the robustness for ill-posed condition. Using the color information of traffic signs enables k-means algorithm to cluster the region of interest for the detection efficiently. In each step of clustering, a cluster is verified by the neural network so that the cluster exactly represents the location of a traffic sign. Proposed method is practical, and yields robustness for the unexpected region of interest or for multiple detections.

Information sharing is the main purpose of realizing interoperability between the application domains of Geographic Information System (GIS) and Building Information Modeling (BIM). This paper presents and describes the workflow of BIM-GIS interoperability for highway traffic information sharing. An innovative and automatic Dynamo process was presented to transfer the shapes and attributes of the shapefile from GIS to BIM. On the basis of the transformed BIM model, the detailed traffic data was added and expressed in the form of families and sheets to expand traffic information. Then, the shapes of the model were swept as solid geometries in the BIM environment applying Dynamo. The expanded BIM model was transferred back to the GIS system using the Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) scheme. The mutual communication between BIM and GIS was achieved based on Dynamo and IFC. This paper provides a convenient and feasible way to realize BIM-GIS interoperability for highway traffic information sharing according to the characteristics of highways in terms of graphic expression and model creation.

Currently, the permanent road traffic volume surveys under Road Act are conducted using a intrusive Automatic Vehicle Classification (AVC) equipments to classify 12 categories of vehicles. However, intrusive AVC equipment inevitably have friction with vehicles, and physical damage to sensors due to cracks in roads, plastic deformation, and road construction decreases the operation rate. As a result, accuracy and reliability in actual operation are deteriorated, and maintenance costs are also increasing. With the recent development of ITS technology, research to replace the intrusive AVC equipment is being conducted. However multiple equipments or self-built DB operations were required to classify 12 categories of vehicles. Therefore, this study attempted to prepare a method for classifying 12 categories of vehicles using vehicle specification information of the Vehicle Management Information System(VMIS), which is collected and managed in accordance with Motor Vehicle Management Act. In the future, it is expected to be used to upgrade and diversify road traffic statistics using vehicle specifications such as the introduction of a road traffic survey system using Automatic Number Plate Recognition(ANPR) and classification of eco-friendly vehicles.
A magnetically levitated vehicle (Maglev) system is under commercialization as a new transportation system in Korea. The Maglev is operated by an unmanned automatic control system. Therefore, the plan of train operation should be carefully established and validated in advance. In general, when making a train operation plan, statistically predicted traffic data is used. However, a traffic wave often occurs in real train service, and demand-driven simulation technology is required to review a train operation plan and service quality considering traffic waves. We propose a method and model to simulate Maglev operation considering continuous demand changes. For this purpose, we employed a discrete event model that is suitable for modeling the behavior of railway passenger transportation. We modeled the system hierarchically using discrete event system specification (DEVS) formalism. In addition, through implementation and an experiment using the DEVSim++ simulation environment, we tested the feasibility of the proposed model. Our experimental results also verified that our demand-driven simulation technology can be used for a priori review of train operation plans and strategies.
