MPSoC Design Space Exploration Based on Static Analysis of Process Network Model (프로세스 네트워크 모델의 정적 분석에 기반을 둔 다중 프로세서 시스템 온 칩 설계 공간 탐색)

  • In this paper, we introduce a new design environment for efficient multiprocessor system-on-chip design space exploration. The design environment takes a process network model as input system specification. The process network model has been widely used for modeling signal processing applications because of its excellent modeling power. However, it has limitation in predictability, which could cause severe problem for real time systems. This paper proposes a new approach that enables static analysis of a process network model by converting it to a hierarchical synchronous dataflow model. For efficient design space exploration in the early design step, mapping application to target architectures has been a crucial part for finding better solution. In this paper, we propose an efficient mapping algorithm. Our mapping algorithm supports both single bus architecture and multiple bus architecture. In the experiments, we show that the automatic conversion approach of the process network model for static analysis is performed successfully for several signal processing applications, and show the effectiveness of our mapping algorithm by comparing it with previous approaches.

  • Semantic web technology is the evolution of current World Wide Web including a machine-understandable knowledge database, ontology, it may be enable machine and people to work together. However, problems arise when we try to communicate with different data, which are annotated by different ontologies created by different people with different concepts. Thus, to communicate between ontologies, it needs to align between heterogeneous ontologies. When it is aligned between concept nodes of heterogeneous ontologies, one of main problems is a misalignment situation caused by false negative of automatic ontology mapping. So, in this paper, we present a new method to minimize the false negative error in the process of aligning concept nodes of different ontology.

Design and Implementation of the GNEX-to-iPhone Converter for Smart Phone Game Contents (스마트폰 게임 콘텐츠를 위한 GNEX-to-iPhone 변환기의 설계 및 구현)

  • Since korean mobile communication companies each use different mobile platforms, developers must configure and translate their game contents to run under each of the smart phone platforms so that they can be serviced correctly. Nevertheless, such translation tasks require lengthy times and costs. This is one of the reasons why a variety of contents could not be provided. In order to mitigate such difficulty, this paper implemented the mobile contents converter system that converts mobile game contents of the GNEX platform to smart phone contents of the iPhone platform(iOS). The GNEX-to-iPhone automatic mobile contents translation system helps minimize the amount of time and cost required in servicing contents to different mobile communication companies by promptly translating platform-specific-contents to run under iPhone smart phone platforms. Also, the automatic translation and servicing of existing contents increases the reusability of these contents and also the productivity of new contents thereby offering users with a more variety of games.

Evaluation of Novel Method of Hand Gesture Input to Define Automatic Scanning Path for UAV SAR Missions (손 제스처를 이용하여 탐색 구조용 무인항공기의 자동 스캐닝 경로를 정의하는 가상현실 입력방법 개발 및 평가)

  • This study evaluated a novel method of defining the automatic flight path of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for search and rescue missions in a VR environment. The developed VR content reserves miniature digital twins of a building in the fire and a steep mountain terrain site. The users drow the UAV's scanning path using hand gestures on the surface of digital twins, and then the UAV make an automatic flight along the defined path. According to human-in-the-loop simulation tests comparing the novel method with a conventional manual flight task with 19 participants, the novel method did not improve the mission performance but participants felt a lower mental workload. The designer may need to consider the automation support on the vulnerable points of the SAR mission environment while maintaining experts' mapping capability.

  • The geo-referencing of satellite imagery is a key task in remote sensing. GCPs are points the position of which is known both in the image and in the supporting maps. Mapping function makes the determination of map coordinates of all image pixels possible. Generally manual operations are done to identify image points corresponding to the points on a digital topographic map. In order to accurately measure ground coordinates of GCPs, differential global positioning system (DGPS) surveying are used. To acquire the sufficient number of well distributed GCPs is one of the most time-consuming and cost-consuming tasks. This paper describes the procedure of automatically extracting GCOs using GCP database. GCP image chips and image matching technique are used for automatic extraction of GCPs. We developed image processing tool for making image chip GCPs and Web Server for management of GCPs.

Object-Oriented Field Information Management Program Developed for Precision Agriculture

  • This study was conducted to develop software which provides automatic site-specific field data acquisition, data processing, data mapping and management for precision agriculture. The developed software supports acquisition and processing of both digital and analog data streams. The architecture was object-oriented and each component in the architecture was developed as a separate class. In precision agriculture research, the laborious task of manual ground-truth data collection will be avoided using the developed software. In addition, gathering high-density data eliminates the need for interpolation of values for un-sampled areas. This software shows good potential for expansion and compatibility for variable-rate-application (VRA). The FIM (Field Information Management) computer program provides the user with an easy-to-follow process for field information management for precision agriculture.

  • When we use various multimedia programs such as 3D-game, visual conference, dial-pad phone by internet service, we make use of headset generally. As internet system is magnified more and more, a demand of headset will be increasing continuously. Because microphone was fixed by headset, it has many inconveniences for using headset. For these reasons, new concept headset is needed nowadays. Main idea of development of headset is very the automatic operation system of microphone. There are many process variables in appling new technology to the conventional headset. They can be solved by using axiomatic approach method which is very useful design method for designing new products. Its main character is scientific and analytical. The goal of this research is to design and manufacture a new headset model with axiomatic design method. In this paper, a new concept headset was presented by mapping the relation between functional requirements and design parameters.

  • 모바일매핑시스템은 차량에 CCD카메라, GPS IMU등의 장비를 탑재하고 도로 및 주변지역의 영상을 획득하여 지도제작 및 도로 도로시설물의 유지관리를 위한 시스템이다. 그러나 모바일매핑시스템의 자료는 자료의 양이 방대하여 지도제작 및 시설물 관리에 사용되기 위해서는 일차적인 가공이나 편집이 필요하다. 모바일매핑시스템은 대상물의 위치 및 영상정보를 획득할 수 있는 효율적인 시스템으로 도로 시설물의 유지 관리, 수치지도의 갱신 등 여러 분야에서 활용되고 있다. 이러한 모바일매핑시스템은 CCD 카메라 영상과 차량의 위치 및 자세정보를 제공하게 되고 이는 영상안의 객체에 대한 위치정보를 제공하는데 중요한 역할을 한다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 모바일매핑시스템을 이용하여 영상내부에 나타난 거리표의 3차원 위치를 결정하고자 한다. 또 도로관리통합시스템의 핵심 키가 되는 거리표의 3차원 정보를 자동으로 추출함으로써 모바일매핑시스템의 방대한 정보를 효율적으로 처리하기 위한 방법을 알아볼 것이다.

  • In mobile robotics, ultrasonic sensors became one of the most popular devices for collision avoidance and navigation primarily due to data robustness, the easy availability of low-cost systems, their compact size, simple circuits, and their ease in interfacing with computers. However, ultrasonic sonic sensors are subject to noise which results in inaccuracy of mapping and localization of the robot. This paper introduces a new approach to enhance environmental maps based on ultrasonic range data using linear interpolation and Newton interpolation. The simulation and experimental results show that the proposed method improves of the accuracy of the map through better distance estimation between the mobile robot and obstacles.

Generation of High-Resolution Precise DEMs Through Airborne LIDAR Surveys on Huge Antarctic Regions

  • NASA, NSF and USGS jointly conducted airborne LIDAR surveys to acquire numerous surface points with high densities over the Antarctic Dry Valleys and its vicinity, The huge set of these points retains two characteristics undesirable for DEM generation, which are unusually high blunder ratio and large variation of the local point densities. Hence, in order to not only reduce the undesirable effects due to these characteristics but also process the huge number of points within reasonable limits of time and resources, we developed an efficient, robust, nearly automatic approach to DEM generation. This paper reports about the application of this approach to generating high-resolution precise DEMs from the Antarctic LIDAR surveys and the evaluation of their accuracy.
