  • Our country automatic wet pipe sprinkler system of hydraulically designed system has not deviated from the pipe regulation process, therefore we face limitations when using an independent method to hydraulically designed system. Therefore. after reviewing a developed country's methods using the drainage-density concept, we found it necessary for our country to introduce the drainage-density concept. Currently, under the National Fire Safety Codes(NFSC), this does not solve the problem and the limitation of hydraulically designed system because different problems arise depending on where the head was installed. To make improvements, first, such as the developed country, overcome the difference by introducing the drainage-density concept to determine the amount of drainage. Second, by using diverse head caliber and decreasing the limits on the amounts of distribution, we can expect a leveling off of the drainage density. Third, using the increase of hydraulically designed system through the application of the rule to hydraulically designed system, finally, development to performance based fire protection design.

  • This paper presents a loop-based genetic algorithm for loss minimization of distribution systems by automatic sectionalizing switch operation in distribution systems. Genetic algorithm can be successfully applied to problem of loss minimization in distribution systems because it is suitable to solve combinatorial optimization problems. New loop-based string structure is proposed for generating the more feasible solutions, and the proposed restoration function converts infeasible solutions into feasible solutions. The loop-based genetic algorithm with sam adaptations have been applied to improve the computation time and convergence property. Numerical examples demonstrate the validity and effectiveness of the proposed methodology using a 32-bus and 69-bus system.

  • The research was performed to develop a CANDU-6 Core Monitoring System(CCMS) that enables operators to have efficient core management by monitoring core power distribution, burnup distribution, and the other important core variables and managing the past core history for Wolsong nuclear power plant unit 1. The CCMS uses Reactor Fueling Simulation Program(RFSP, developed by AECL) for continuous core calculation by integrating the algorithm and assumptions validated and uses the information taken from Digital Control Computer(DCC) for the purpose of producing basic input data. The CCMS has two modules; CCMS server program and CCMS client program. The CCMS server program performs automatic and continuous core calculation and manages overall output controlled by DataBase Management System. The CCMS client program enables users to monitor current and past core status in the predefined GUI(Graphic-User Interface) environment. For the purpose of verifying the effectiveness of CCMS, we compared field-test data with the data used for Wolsong unit 1 operation. In the verification the mean percent differences of both cases were the same($0.008\%$), which showed that the CCMS could monitor core behaviors well.

  • In this paper, characteristics of Acoustic Emission in Low Density Polyethylene were studied from tree initiation to breakdown under long-term inhomogeneous alternative electrical field. The voltage levels used were 9, 11 and 14[kV]. Especially, a newly developed automatic measuring system was used to measure time variations of AE average amplitude, AE pulse number, AE pulse distribution patterns due to polarities. The patterns wer specially the variated patterns, when tree propagated. Also, parameters for dielectric breakdown prediction, which were suggested by Okamoto, were calculated. The result was analysed by tree shapes and partial discharge activities in tree due to tree initiation and propagation.

  • This paper presents an advanced automat ic reclosing scheme in power distribution system to minimize the impact of electric facilities and the customers' damage. This scheme can determines the number of reclosing attempts to reduce the influence of electric equipment and injury of customers' load using a magnitude of fault current and types. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme, numerical simulation is carried out with field data. Results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can minimizes the impact of electric facility and customers' damage than exist ing scheme.

  • The energy consumption in the world is growing rapidly. And the environmental issues of climate become a important task. The interest in renewable energy like wind and solar is increasing now. Especially, by reducing power transmission loss, a small wind power is getting attention at the residential areas and campus of university. In this study, we attempted to estimate and compare the wind energy density using wind data of AWS (Automatic Weather Station) of H University. In this case of a campus, the weibull distribution parameter C is 2.27, and K is 0.88. According to the data, the energy density of the small wind power is 12.7 W/m2. We did CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations at H University campus by 7 wind directions(ENE, ESE, SE, NW, WNW, W, WSW). In the results, we suggest 4 small wind powers. The small wind power generating system can produce 4,514kWh annually.

  • Currently. people become interested in the development of measuring instrument related to eyesight. In this study, we developed software of electronic part in automatic refracto-keratometer. If an automatic system, which uses images from an optical instrument, can inform the in-spector of an accurate eyesight measured value after the internal process, the frequency of mistakenly observed value will be reduced considerably. This software is using morphological filtering and gray-level signal enhancing techniques. The morphological filtering is the first process, from images of the optical instrument, to transform an original image which is hard to process into manageable one. The second process is a signal enhancing technique to the first processed image using gray -level thresholding technique and is used to reduce an error caused by the variety in distribution of the gray value of image. Therefore, this software system in electronic part will make more effective eyesight measurement by reducing the error effectively when applied to the optical image which is difficult to get accurate measurement value.
