  • This paper presents a new approach to the calibration of a SCARA robot orientation with a camera modeling that accounts for major sources of camera distortion, namely, radial, decentering, and thin prism distortion. Radial distortion causes an inward or outward displacement of a given image point from its ideal location. Actual optical systems are subject to various degrees of decentering, that is, the optical centers of lens elements are not strictly collinear. Thin prism distortion arises from imperfection in lens design and manufacturing as well as camera assembly. It is our purpose to develop the vision system for the pattern recognition and the automatic test of parts and to apply the line of manufacturing.

  • Cam mechanisms are one of the most popular devices for generating intermittent motion and are widely used in many areas. Also, as being interested in research of precision field, cam mechanism is required high accuracy and continuity, In. In this paper, the cam mechanism of filament automatic assembly machine design for precision motion is proposed. The modelling of a cam mechanism, cam profile functions, and the design of the cam considering the precision positioning of the cam mechanism is studied. And, simulation of designed cam mechanism had been carried out dynamic analysis.

  • This paper is described about the on-line, real-time quality information management system as the infrastructure of CIM, which we developed for the full automatic washing machine assembly line. This System is composed of Ethernet LAN, RS-485 Network, POP terminal, BAR CODE Scanner, PLC, ROBOT, measuring equipments and real-time processing software. We will run this system from next month regularly.

  • It is very important to measure linear motion accuracy of NC lathe as it affects all other parts of machines machined by them in industries. If the motion accuracy of NC lathe is bad, the dimension accuracy and the change-ability of works will be bad in the assembly of machine parts. In this paper, computer software systems are organized to measure linear motion of ATC(Automatic tool changer) on zx plane of NC lathe using two linear scales and the time pulses coming out from computer in order to get data at constant time intervals from the linear scales. And each sets of error data obtained from the test is discripted to plots and the results of linear motion errors are expressed as numerics by computer treatment.

  • Of all of pneumatic components utilized in the make up of pneumatic circuits on either automatic assembly machine or industrial equipment, the pneumatic cylinder is more oriented toward being a structural as well as a pneumatic member. The structural design must be based to a large degree on the end of application of the cylinder on the equipment it is operating. In this paper, design studies of a double-acting pneumatic cushion type cylinder with low-friction and high-speed driving have been developed. Of interest here is to investigate the structural analysis of cylinder tube, piston rod, end cover, and to analyze the buckling of piston rod. Also, a relief valve type cushion mechanism is considered. This cushion mechanism is found to be adequate under a high-speed driving of pneumatic cylinders.

Of interest here is to investigate the stress and strain analysis of cylinder tube, piston rod, end cover, and to analyze the buckling of piston rod. A finite element analysis is carried out to compute the distribution of the displacement, stress and safety factors by using ANSYS. As a result, the structural safety factors of each parts in pneumatic cushion cylinder are evaluated and confirmed at the design specifications.

  • In general, auto parts production assembly line is assembled and produced by automatic mounting by an automated robot. In such a production site, quality problems such as misalignment of parts (doors, trunks, roofs, etc.) to be assembled with the vehicle body or collision between assembly robots and components are often caused. In order to solve such a problem, the quality of parts is manually inspected by using mechanical jig devices outside the automated production line. Automotive inspection technology is the most commonly used field of vision, which includes surface inspection such as mounting hole spacing and defect detection, body panel dents and bends. It is used for guiding, providing location information to the robot controller to adjust the robot's path to improve process productivity and manufacturing flexibility. The most difficult weighing and measuring technology is to calibrate the surface analysis and position and characteristics between parts by storing images of the part to be measured that enters the camera's field of view mounted on the side or top of the part. The problem of the machine vision device applied to the automobile production line is that the lighting conditions inside the factory are severely changed due to various weather changes such as morning-evening, rainy days and sunny days through the exterior window of the assembly production plant. In addition, since the material of the vehicle body parts is a steel sheet, the reflection of light is very severe, which causes a problem in that the quality of the captured image is greatly changed even with a small light change. In this study, the distance between the car body and the door part and the door are acquired by the measuring device combining the laser slit light source and the LED pattern light source. The result is transferred to the joint robot for assembling parts at the optimum position between parts, and the assembly is done at the optimal position by changing the angle and step.

  • 산업기술의 발달로 조립현장에서는 특수한 기능을 갖는 센서와 투울들을 정착한 지능 로보트들이 현재 많이 이용되고 있다. 이러한 지능 로보트들을 사용하는 자동 제조 시스템들이 보다 발전되고 복잡해짐에 따라 작업장내에 있는 여러 로보트들 뿐만 아니라 주변 장치들을 동시에 제어할 수 있는 보다 발전된 형태의 로보트 언어에 대한 필요성이 점증하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 제조 공정내에 존재하는 여러 로보트들 뿐만 아니라 주변 장치들을 동시에 제어할 수 있는 새로운 형태이 로보트 언어, ARL(assembly robot language)을 제안하고 이를 구현하였다. 본 언어 시스템에서는 기존 로보트 언어들이 갖는 공통적인 기능들과 디버깅 기능 이외에 대부분의 기존 언어들이 하드웨어 종속적인 점을 감안하여 별도의 전담 프로세스와 프로세스간 통신을 위한 공통 메모리를 이용하여 로보트나 주변장치에 종속적인 요소들을 최소화 하도록 하여 확장성이나 환경변화에 따른 적응성이 좋도록 하였다.

Nanomanipulation and Nanomanufacturing based on Ion Trapping and Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM)

  • Development of a versatile nanomanipulation tool is an overarching theme in nanotechnology. Such a tool will likely revolutionize the field given that it will enable fabrication and operation of a wealth of interesting nanodevices. This study seeks funding to create a novel nanomanipulation system with the ultimate goal of using this system for nanomanufacturing at the molecular level. The proposed design differs from existing approaches. It is based on a nanoscale ion trap integrated to a scanning prove microscope (SPM) tip. In this design, molecules to be assembled will be ionized and collected in the nanoscale ion trap all in an ultra high vacuum (UHV) environment. Once filled with the molecular ions, the nanoscale ion trap-SPM tip will be moved on a substrate surface using scanning probe microscopy techniques. The molecular ions will be placed at their precise locations on the surface. By virtue of the SPM, the devices that are being nanomanufactured will be imaged in real time as the molecular assembly process is carried out. In the later stages, automation of arrays of these nanomanipulators will be developed.
