There have been several papers to illustrate how an information system is used in an automated warehouse system. These papers, however. do not carefully address the role of warehouse planning/control systems nor do they recognize how to integrate the management planning/control systems, and automated warehouse system. This article addresses such issues and shows how a business computer system can be used to integrate and unify the warehouse planning/control systems and the automated warehouse system into it single and highly productive operating system.

This paper addresses the definition of the driver's functions for an automated vehicle of level 3, as defined by the Society of Automotive Engineers. By combining the constituent systems surrounding the automated vehicles in specific use cases, their interactions could be refined in a stepwise approach. This approach enables traceability of interactions between drivers, automated driving systems, and other constituent systems.
The automated material handling systems today are playing ever more important roles in semiconductor/LCD fabrication facilities. Recently they became more flexible, intelligent, and speedy than in the past. The facilities have been fully automated because the size and weight of the unit loads used in the facilities were being increased beyond the limits that a human operator can handle. This research develops an efficient procedure to streamline the delivery of unit loads by the automated material handling system (AMHS). For this task, the research employs the event scheduling theory that has been successfully used in the both academia and industry. The developed procedure was applied to an actual LCD fabrication facility and improved the performance of an existing material handling system.
The present automated manufacturing environment is very different when the classical statistical process control method based on batch processing were used. Therefore these must be replaced by automated statistical process control method. In this point of view, this paper intends to develop the automated statistical process control method which can be implemented in the present automated manufacturing environment. Specially this study developed the rules to identify the special causes of the manufacturing process in the aspect of the 100 PPM management, and a numerical example is demonstrated to verify the usefulness of these rules.

The goals of this study are to suggest the guidance for automated clothing manufacture by analysis the technology of the automated manufacturing facilities and to propose how improve the efficiency of the production planning and management for automated clothing manufacture In this study, the research about the automated clothing manufacturing machines and the analysis about the modules and functions of apparel information systems were performed. In order to understand the factory automation of the larger clothing firms, the case study method was used. The case study samples were 3 clothing firms. The results and suggestions are as follows: 1. An information technology for automated clothing manufacture has enabled the computer integrated manufacturing system to connect production planning and management part with each work station on the factory floor. 2. The apparel information system to integrate and manage manufacturing informations from each workstation and the apparel CAD system are used in the department of production planning. At the cutting room, there are automated manufacturing machines like an automatic spreading system and an automatic cutting system. Sewing room has the computer controlled unit production system and semi-automated sewing machines. In addition, in the finishing room, an automatic packing machine and a press system are used and besides a warehousing system has been developed. Considering these available technology, for better product efficiency, it is necessary to consider and utilize the specific character of these automatic manufacturing machines and computer system whether they proper to each product style. 3. Most of the clothing manufacturers are in the stage of semi-automated manufacture. In order to improve the manufacturing environment, it is needed to gradual procedure of manufacturing automation with considering the firm's financial condition, existing facilities and staffs operating machines. The case study sample firms are in the high degree of manufacturing automation. They can accomplish the flexible manufacturing system to link the information system with each work station menufacturing system by computerized control. For the case of the firm having already used the computer integrated manufacturing and managing system, it is necessary that the function to deal with drawing information is added to the retaining module of the apparel system.

There has been growing interests in life-cycle project management in the construction industry. A lot of attention is given to Building Information Modeling (BIM) which stores and uses a variety of construction information for the life cycle of project management. However, due to the additional workload arising from BIM, its expected effects versus its input costs are still under discussion in practice. As an attempt to address this issue, one of previous studies suggested an automated linking process by developing Standard Classification Numbering System (SCNS) and Geometry Breakdown Structure (GBS) to enhance the efficiency of integration process of BIM objects, cost, and schedule. Though SCNS and GBS facilitates identifying all different dataset, making object sets and linking schedule activities still needs to be manually done without having an automated tool. In this context, the purpose of this paper is to develop and validate a fully automated integration system for 3D-objects, cost, and schedule. A prototype system for single family homes (Hanok) was developed and tested in order to verify its efficiency.

An automated machining system involves concurrent use of manufacturing resources, alternative process plans, and flexible routings. High investment in the installation of automated facilities requires an efficient scheduling system that is able to allocate the resources specified for operations over a scheduling horizon. The primary emphasis of this paper is to generate schedules that accurately reflect details of the automated environment and the objectives stated for the system. In this paper, a scheduling algorithm for automated machining is presented. Using the previous simulation research for this topic, a rule-based scheduling system is constructed. An architecture for an intelligent scheduling system is proposed, and the system has a high potential to provide efficient schedules based on the task-specific knowledge for the dynamic scheduling environment

The development of IT and explosively growing number of Internet users are rapidly spreading and developing e-commerce, while creating diverse on-line transaction methods such as a negotiation, a reverse auction, and a bid. Among these transaction methods, the transactions by means of a negotiation are being made for goods that have no posted price. In particular, the transactions by means of a negotiation are expected to be widely used in the B2B. In order to determine their transportation costs, shippers usually make negotiations with many transporters and logistics companies. And before long, these negotiations are expected to be made on an on-line automated negotiation system. Because of this, this study has tried to develop an automated negotiation methodology that is absolutely necessary for an on-line automated negotiation. This study has estimated and selected the evaluation functions for multi-lateral negotiators' proposals, thus developing an automated negotiation methodology. As a result of this study, a new direction for an automated negotiation has been suggested. Also we expect that this study will be widely used in the automated negotiation of diverse fields.

The automated construction machines have been recently developed to help solve the construction industry problems that significantly affect labour, productivity, quality, and profit. Despite the importance of performance analysis to commercialize the automated construction machines, previous studies have mainly concentrated on developing hardware and software of automated construction machines. This research now focuses on two objectives: (1) to propose an analysis model which can measure productivity, quality, and safety improvement rate of automated construction machines based on research and development (R&D); and (2) to develop a performance analysis system which will aid the evaluator in analysing the performance of automated construction machines. Finally, it is anticipated that the effective use of the performance analysis model and computerized system will ably develop the high-performance, automated construction machines and establish the marketing strategy to increase not only the commercial value but also the upkeep and development of construction machines.

Cost, schedule, quality are the essential parts of success of every construction project. It is especially true in high-rise building construction. Among the construction components in high-rise building construction, curtain walls are very important elements for the project success because they take large portion of cost and schedule. However, curtain wall construction process are very complicated, where many entities including designers, suppliers, contractors and even maintenance contractors are involved. Therefore, control and management of their relationships and production process are critical. It is suggested that this can be solved by the concept of Supply Chain Management which is supported by the automated information technology with Radio Frequency Identification. Such concept is defined as 'Automated Life-Cycle Management System Based On SCM' and this study suggests rode map to establish the system.
