A study on the system identification technique for hydrodynamic coefficient estimation of underwater submersible (수중운동체의 유체계수 추정을 위한 시스템 식별기법 연구)

  • It is necessary to estimate hydrodynamic coefficients to design the auto-pilot system and motion simulator of submersible vehicle. In this paper, an algorithm was designed to estimate hydrodynamic coefficients of submersible vehicle. Using this algorithm, the hydrodynamic coefficients were estimated from measurements of full scale trial. The estimated hydrodynamic coefficients were used for the design of an auto-depth controller(ADC) of submersible vehicle, and the resulting ADC are proved to have a better performance than the previous one.

  • This paper proposes a protocol integration system with multi-threading method for the ship electronic devices to solve problems with the compatibility. The proposed protocol integration system receives the different signals from each of the ships' devices through the RS-232 serial communication port and then divides the input signal into the field data. The required field data for standard signal composition are extracted from among these signal and these are combined in accordance with standard signal format. Thereafter, the protocol integration system transmits the processed standard signal to the auto pilot system through a single port.

  • This paper describes modeling, design and performance test results of infrared thermal image target system which can generate infrared thermal image on aircraft. The system is designed to control image shape and intensity so that the infrared image shape and its emitting intensity are so similar to that of real aircraft. When applying the technique suggested in this paper, the system consumes only small electric power energy about 30(㎾) to generate infrared thermal image which is equivalent to that of real aircraft under full power operation. After verifying performance test, the system developed here has been used as a target for korean potable surface to air missile(KPSAM) at the stage of evaluation test such as target adaptive guidance test and auto-pilot logic test.

  • Because of a large number of subcarriers, the high PAPR(Peak-to-Average Power Ratio) is the major drawback of NC-OFDM system used for wireless communication system. Comb type pilot assignment is more efficient and lower computational complexity for the channel estimation than the block type pilot. However, even if the CAZAC(Constant Amplitude Zero Autocorrelation) matrix transform is used for the PAPR reduction of the data symbols, PAPR increases when the pilot is inserted in comb type with the data symbols. Therefore, in this paper, we additionally use a new SLM technique in order to lower the PAPR again even in the comb type pilot. Also, a new SLM technique suggested in this paper does not need any additional bandwidth for sending selection information for SLM. This combined method has good PAPR reduction performance and efficient data transmission.

  • In this paper, we describe the real-time parallel processing simulator developed for the use of performance analysis of rolling missiles. The real-time parallel processing simulator developed here consists of seeker emulator generating infrared image signal on aircraft, real-time computer, host computer, system unit, and actual equipments such as auto-pilot processor and seeker processor. Software is developed from mathematic models, 6 degree-of-freedom module, aerodynamic module which are resided in real-time computer, and graphic user interface program resided in host computer. The real-time computer consists of six TIC-40 processors connected in parallel. The seeker emulator is designed by using analog circuits coupled with mechanical equipments. The system unit provides interface function to match impedance between the components and processes very small electrical signals. Also real launch unit of missiles is interfaced to simulator through system unit. In order to apply the real-time parallel processing simulator to performance analysis equipment of rolling missiles it is essential to perform the performance verification test of simulator.

  • Generally a ship in a port or canal is guided by tugboat(s), while the ship engine(s) and steering mechanism idle. The shortcomings of this method are insufficient in course keeping ability, danger of collision with waterside structures, time-consuming preparation for tugging, as well as the need to maintain tugboats. A new technology for ship guiding, based on the physical principle of interaction of a solid body with aerated liquids has been developed [1]. Model tests were carried out for the verification of system at slow speed by engine operating conditions and with an idle steering. The developed device has been proved to keep the ship on course safely.

  • Last year, the Autonomous Vehicle Act was enacted to respond to deployment of autonomous vehicles. But the Act stipulates the operation of autonomous vehicle pilot zones, In addition, in order to analyze autonomous vehicle accidents and establish a reasonable damage compensation system, the Automobile Damage Compensation Guarantee Act was revised. But, It is necessary to seek plans for institutional development such as detailed concepts of self-driving cars and driving, a security certification system for securing safety of autonomous cooperative driving, and enhancement of the effectiveness of special cases related to personal information processing. I would like to seek ways to improve the legal system to respond reasonably to the deployment of autonomous vehicles.

  • Dual-fuel engines are being researched with emphasis on the possible types of natural gas supply systems. Hence, a three-dimensional combustion model by using finite volume method was developed to provide a fundamental understanding of the auto-ignition of pilot distillate and subsequent burning of natural gas, when the natural gas as well as the distillate was directly injected into a quiescent diesel engine like combustion bomb tests and the numerical results were investigated for the mixed combustion phenomena. With high-pressure natural gas injection, it was found that the gaseous fuel injection characteristics had to be well harmonised with that of the pilot distillate. For better combustion efficiency, however, further researches are required for the optimisation of injection system in the existence of air motion.

  • Drone refers to an unmanned flying system according to the remote control. That is a remote control systems on the ground or a system that automatically or semi auto-piloted system without pilot on board. Drones have been used and developed before for military purposes. However there are currently utilized in a variety of areas such as logistics and distribution of relief supplies disaster areas, wireless Internet connection, TV, video shooting and disaster observation, tracking criminals etc. Especially it can be actively used in activities such as search or the structure of the disaster site, and may be able to detect the movement of people and an attacker using an infrared camera at night. Drones are very effective for private security.

Optimal Feature Parameters Extraction for Speech Recognition of Ship's Wheel Orders (조타명령의 음성인식을 위한 최적 특징파라미터 검출에 관한 연구)

  • The goal of this paper is to develop the speech recognition system which can control the ship's auto pilot. The feature parameters predicting the speaker's intention was extracted from the sample wheel orders written in SMCP(IMO Standard Marine Communication Phrases). And we designed the post-recognition procedure based on the parameters which could make a final decision from the list of candidate words. To evaluate the effectiveness of these parameters and the procedure, the basic experiment was conducted with total 525 wheel orders. From the experimental results, the proposed pattern recognition procedure has enhanced about 42.3% over the pre-recognition procedure.
