Due to the nonlinearity and environmental uncertainties, the design of the ship's steering controller is a long-term challenge. The purpose of this study is to design an intelligent autopilot based on Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) trained Radial Basis Function Neural Network (RBFNN) control algorithm. The newly developed free running model scaled surface vessel was employed to execute the motion control experiments. After describing the design of the EKF trained RBFNN autopilot, the performances of the proposed control system were investigated by conducting experiments using the physical model on lake and simulations using the corresponding mathematical model. The results demonstrate that the developed control system is feasible to be used for the ship's motion control in the presences of environmental disturbances. Moreover, in comparison with the Back-Propagation (BP) neural networks and Proportional-Derivative (PD) based control methods, the EKF RBFNN based control method shows better performance regarding course keeping and trajectory tracking.

This paper studies detecting and locating loose bolts using nonlinear guided waves. The 3D Finite Element (FE) simulation is used for the prediction of guided waves' interactions with loose bolted joints. The numerical results are verified by experimentally obtained data. The study considers bolted joints consisting of two bolts. It is shown that the guided waves' interaction with surfaces of a loose bolted joint generates Contact Acoustic Nonlinearity (CAN). The study uses CAN for detecting and locating loose bolts. The processed experimentally obtained data show that the CAN is able to successfully detect and locate loose bolted joints. A 3D FE simulation scheme is developed and validated by experimentally obtained data. It is shown that FE can predict the propagation of guided waves in loose bolts and is also able to detect and locate them. Several numerical case studies with various bolt sizes are created and studied using the validated 3D FE simulation approach. It is shown that the FE simulation modeling approach and the signal processing scheme used in the current study are able to detect and locate the loose bolts in imperfect bolted joints. The outcomes of this research can provide better insights into understanding the interaction of guided waves with loose bolts. The results can also enhance the maintenance and repair of imperfect joints using the nonlinear guided waves technique.

Objectives : This study aimed to investigate the history, current status, and regulation of complementary medicine in Australia. Methods : To investigate complementary medicine in Australia, we searched domestic and overseas academic databases, and websites of public and private organizations related to the Australian health care. Results : Complementary medicine consists of numerous services, among which massage and chiropractic care are significantly utilized by Australians. Since 2010, Australian healthcare practitioners, in the field of complementary medicine, have been supervised by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Those who AHPRA is responsible for managing acupuncturists, chiropractors, and osteopaths. Other professions are regulated by their own respective associations. Not only aforementioned services offered by specialists, but also consumption of oral supplements accounts for considerable portion of complementary medicine in Australia. Complementary medicine products, vitamins, and minerals are managed by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA). In terms of insurance policy, the reimbursement of complementary medicine expenses in Australia is covered by the public healthcare insurance system, Medicare. Medicare covers acupuncture, chiropractic, and osteopathy services. Other complementary therapies are continuously reviewed to update their coverage under this scheme. Conclusion : In Australia, practitioner qualifications, education standards, and scope of procedures related to complementary medicine are systematically managed through legal regulations of the federal and state governments.

본 연구에서는 호주의 이주민에 대한 사회통합 정책을 분석하고 우리나라에 대한 시사점을 도출하였다. 이를 위해 우선 호주의 이민자들에 대한 사회통합에 대한 문헌연구 및 법무부 보고서 등을 분석하였다. 이를 바탕으로 호주 정부의 사회통합정책에 대한 우리나라에 대한 정책적 함의를 밝혀 냈다. 우선, 호주정부의 사회통합프로그램은 다른 이주민에 비해 더욱 도움을 필요로 하는 인도주의적 이민자들에 대한 사회통합프로그램에의 참여를 강조하고 있다. 우리나라는 인도주의적 차원의 이주민 통합 프로그램이 매우 미흡한 편이다. 따라서 호주 정부처럼 인도주의적 이주민에 대한 관심 및 배려를 통해 이주민에 대한 적극적인 사회통합에의 관심을 제고해야 할 것으로 보인다. 둘째, 호주정부의 사회통합정책이나 프로그램은 주로 호주이민국경보호부와 사회복지부에서 수립하지만 프로그램의 수행은 주로 지방정부에서 시행하며 이들의 역할을 강조하고 있다. 우리의 경우에도 지방정부의 사회통합정책에의 권한은 좀 더 부여하고 이들로 하여금 지역마다의 특색에 맞는 다양한 프로그램을 운영할 수 있도록 해야 할 것이다.
