만성통증의 경감과 치유를 위한 노인요양시설의 긍정적 관심 전환 환경 (Nursing Home Environment with Positive Distraction for Reduction of Chronic Pain and Healing)

  • Majority of the seniors living in nursing homes suffer from persistent chronic pain, which may cause depression and compromised quality of life if untreated. The environment should support them to lift their focus from current pain and worries to the positive feelings and the delight of life. The purpose of this research is to classify the healing environment elements for positive distraction, and analyze 6 international cases to see the current situation. The elements were categorized as follows, based on literature review from both healing spaces and elderly care field: spatial elements(view, natural elements, artificial elements, exercise space, garden), psychological elements(grooming area, space for privacy, meal/drink area, elements for recollection, religious space), social elements(common living area, activity/hoppy room, family/visitor area, information area, local community program space). Analysis on 6 facilities showed that each elements were reflected to designed relatively well. New inventions from workers who think distraction is important were also introduced. Healing environment for positive distraction requires delicate touch, derived from understanding characteristics and situation of the residing elderly individuals. Technology update is also significant, from audio books to virtual reality devices, since cultural life of nursing home is far behind from what the others enjoy now.

고조파 전류가 변압기 진동에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (The Study of the Harmonic Currents Effects on the Transformer Vibration)

  • EP(Electrostatic Precipitator) has been used to keep the natural environment from fly-ash in the industrial fields and operated in intermittent PEC(Pulse Energized Control) mode to improve dust-collecting efficiency. Intermittent PEC mode induces low-frequency harmonic currents into power system, therefore EP transformer vibrates. This continuous transformer vibration developes transformer abnormal audio-noise and if it is too much or operates in the region of natural frequency, transformer will be damaged in the end. EP interruption caused by transformer damage results in power generation stopped, power quality down and economic loss. Therefore, this paper explains harmonic currents and transformer vibration-core vibration, winding vibration, and proposes the measures of suppressing the vibration with EP operated in intermittent PEC mode. And this results is proposed to be used for future EP transformer design or EP control method to operate EP-concerned equipment safely keeping from system faults caused by transformer vibration.

가시광 LED를 이용한 양방향 무선통신 시스템 연구 (A Study on the Duplex Wireless Communications Using LED Lighting)

  • 본 논문에서는 조명으로 사용되는 LED를 이용하여 실내 가시광 통신을 할 수 있는 시스템을 제안하고 있다. LED는 디지털 변조가 가능하므로 조명과 더불어 광무선 통신시스템으로 적용할 수 있다는 개념과 연구결과에 기인하여 기초연구를 수행하였다. LED는 고 휘도, 신뢰성, 저 전력 소비, 긴 수명의 장점을 가지므로 고 품질의 통신서비스를 제공하는 통신용 광원으로서도 적합하다. 본 연구에서는 오디오 전송을 위한 단방향 광무선 통신시스템과 텍스트 메시지를 전송하기 위한 양방향 통신시스템을 구현하여 통신 성능을 실험하였다. 이 실험결과는 실내 무선 환경을 지향하는 조명등의 내부회로로 설치될 수 있는 저가형 광통신 트랜시버의 구현이 가능함을 보여준다.

잡음 환경에 강인한 이중모드 음성인식 시스템에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Robust Bimodal Speech-recognition System in Noisy Environments)

  • 최근 잡음이 심한 환경에서 음성인식을 신뢰성 있게 하기 위하여 입 모양의 움직임 (영상언어)과 음성을 같이 사용하는 방법이 활발히 연구되고 있다 본 논문에서는 영상언어 인식기의 결과와 음성인식기의 결과에 각각 가중치를 주어 결합하는 방법을 연구하였다. 각각의 인식 결과에 적절한 가중치를 결정하는 방법을 제안하였으며, 특히 음성정보에 들어있는 잡음의 정도와 영상정보의 화질에 따라 자동적으로 가중치를 결정하도록 하였다. 모의 실험 결과 제안된 방법에 의한 결합 인식률이 잡음이 심한 환경에서도 84% 이상의 인식률을 나타내었으며, 영상에 번짐효과가 있는 경우 영상의 번짐 정도를 고려한 결합 방법이 그렇지 않은 경우보다 우수한 인식 성능을 나타내었다.

  • Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) is the mobile TV service based on a digital radio transmission system that provides high quality audio/video and other auxiliary data services. As users want to store the DMB content in their device to be consumed later or to be shared among users, a standardized format needs to be specified to guarantee the interoperability for the DMB contents for various devices. DMB AF (Application Format) specification defines a file format for DMB contents and services. It specifies how to combine the variety of DMB contents with associated information for a presentation in a well-defined format that facilitates storage, interchange, management, editing, and presentation of the DMB contents in protected, governed, and interoperable ways. In this paper we present our implementation of DMB AF as part of the development of DMB AF reference software. Our implementation of DMB AF is developed as the reference software for the standard specification that consists of a three applications: packager, media player, metadata browser and collection of supporting libraries used by the applications.

  • 멀티미디어 응용 서비스를 제공하기 위해 기존 데이터 통신과 비교하여 멀티미디어 통신은 여려 가지 요구사항을 지원해야한다. 특히, 분산 환경에서 연속적으로 생성된 미디어를 목적지에서 시간적인 관계를 유지하면서 재생시킬 수 있는 동기화 메커니즘은 무엇보다도 중요한 문제이다. 그런, 생성지에서 일정하게 생성된 미디어는 전송 에러나 네트워크 전송 지연시간 때문에 목적지에서는 일정한 시간 간격으로 재생을 보장받지 못한다. 본 논문은 네트워크를 통해 전송되는 오디오나 비디오 같은 멀티미디어 스트림의 연속적인 재생을 보장하기 위해 미디어내 동기화 메커니즘을 제안한다. 제안된 모델은 QoS 기반의 버퍼크기와 재생 보정 알고리즘을 통해 목적지에서 연속적인 미디어 재생을 보장한다.

다중 스트림을 이용한 객체기반 MPEG-4 컨텐트의 적응 기법 (Adaptation for Object-based MPEG-4 Content with Multiple Streams)

  • In this paper, an adaptive algorithm is proposed in streaming MPEG-4 contents with fluctuating resource amount such as throughput of network conditions. In the area of adaptive streaming issue, a lot of researches have been made on how to represent encoded media(such as video) bitstream in scalable way. By contrast, MPEG-4 supports object-based multimedia content which is composed of various types of media streams such as audio, video, image and other graphical elements. Thus, it can be more effective to provide individual media streams in scalable way for streaming object-based content to heterogeneous environment. The proposed method provides the multiple media streams corresponding to an object with different qualities and bit rate in order to support object based scalability to the MPEG-4 content. In addition, an optimal selection of the multiple streams for each object to meet a given constraint is proposed. The selection process is adopted a multiple choice knapsack problem with multi-step selection for the MPEG-4 objects with different scalability levels. The proposed algorithm enforces the optimal selection process to maintain the perceptual qualities of more important objects at the best effort. The experimental results show that the set of selected media stream for presenting objects meets a current transmission condition with more high perceptual quality.

  • FM-VMS는 교통정보제공을 위해 구축한 가변전광표지(Variable Message Signs, 이하 VMS) 문자정보를 워터마킹 기술을 이용하여 음성신호와 같이 동시에 변조시켜 송출하는 시스템으로, 본 논문에서는 VMS에 제공되는 교통정보를 FM 주파수를 이용하여 이동차량에 대하여 실시간 교통정보를 제공하는 시스템을 설계하고 제작하여 특성을 평가하였으며, 가변전광 표지판으로부터의 VMS 정보와 연동한 교통소통정보를 오디오와 문자정보로 변환하여 FM방송을 통해서 자동차 운전자에게 전달하는 것이 가능함을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • Digital broadcasting technology has developed focusing on multi-channel/multi-media, high-definition quality, and mobility-support. Recently, there has been a clear trend toward bidirectional service with the convergence between broadcasting and communication. The broadcasting viewer is no longer simply a passive receptor but has also become an information generator. Currently, the digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) specifications are the major standard for portable digital broadcasting and have been establishing the overall guidelines for bidirectional service using the MPEG-4 system. While detailed specifications for DMB systems are not well-established for bidirectional service yet, they share the basic concepts underlying the European Eureka-147 Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) system. This paper develops key scenarios for bidirectional service in DMB, describes the signal transaction of broadcasting and return channels, and demonstrates typical scenarios using binary format for scenes (BIFS) in the MPEG-4 system.

3D 딥러닝 기술 동향 (Recent R&D Trends for 3D Deep Learning)

  • Studies on artificial intelligence have been developed for the past couple of decades. After a few periods of prosperity and recession, a new machine learning method, so-called Deep Learning, has been introduced. This is the result of high-quality big- data, an increase in computing power, and the development of new algorithms. The main targets for deep learning are 1D audio and 2D images. The application domain is being extended from a discriminative model, such as classification/segmentation, to a generative model. Currently, deep learning is used for processing 3D data. However, unlike 2D, it is not easy to acquire 3D learning data. Although low-cost 3D data acquisition sensors have become more popular owing to advances in 3D vision technology, the generation/acquisition of 3D data remains a very difficult problem. Moreover, it is not easy to directly apply an existing network model, such as a convolution network, owing to the variety of 3D data representations. In this paper, we summarize the 3D deep learning technology that have started to be developed within the last 2 years.
