  • This study focused on the investigation of objects and contents of environment-related chapters which were contained in the biology textbooks of middle school in the 5th curriculum, and in the 6th curriculum. As a result of objects analysis, cognitive domain such as the knowledge and information categories were allocated more than affective domain as skill, value and attitude, and behavior and participation. Compared with the 5th curriculum, the average-pages of environment-related chapters in the 6th curriculum were decreased. Environment-related chapters in the 6th curriculum also dealt negligibly with the real environmental problems in our country. Therefore the importance of the environment-related chapters of biology textbooks in the 6th curriculum was relatively deceased compared with that in the 5th curriculum. In considering the actual low optional rate of environment subject in middle school, it was thought that the reinforcing effect of environmental education can be hardly expected. Rather, the status of environment subject will grow weaker and weaker. Thus, in order to avoid the deterioration effect of its status and solve its problems, it is necessary to up-grade environment subject as obligatory course or needs strong reinforcement of environmental education.

  • Purpose: The purposes of this study were to explore and describe the use of restraint on patients and to generate a grounded theory of how the use of restraint affects patients who have been restrained. Methods: Interview data from seven patients with physical restraint was analyzed using the Strauss and Corbin's grounded theory method. Data were collected and analyzed simultaneously. Unstructured and in-depth interviews were conducted retrospectively with patients recalling their memories of ICU following their transfer to general unit. Results: 'Safety belt' was emerged as a core category and it reflected that physical restraint provided a sense of security to patients. On the basis of core category, a model of the experience process of restrained patients in ICU was developed. The experience process were categorized into four stages: resistance, fear, resignation, and agreement. Stages of these proceeds appeared to have been influenced by the nurses' attitude and caring behavior such as the frequency of nurse-patient interaction, repetition of explanation, and empathetic understanding. Conclusion: These findings indicate that patients have mixed feelings towards restraint use, although negative feelings were stronger than positive ones. The result of this study will help nurses make effective nursing intervention.

  • As web technologies evolve and so-called Web 2.0 technologies appear, collective intelligence is being applied in widespread areas. In general, mass collective intelligence like Wikipedia is created, revised, and managed by anonymous participants in an uncontrolled system. Thus, the knowledge provided by mass collective intelligence may be distorted, and may not be true, which may affect the user acceptance behavior. However, there have been few academic studies that analyzed the factors that affect user acceptance of mass collective intelligence, and their relationships. Under this academic background, we develop a model to examine how mass collective intelligence is accepted by users. The theoretical model is validated through an online survey of the Wikipedia users from three universities in Korea. The results reveal that the users will have positive attitude towards adopting mass collective knowledge when they perceive that the knowledge from mass collective intelligence is useful. We also find that the perceived usefulness of the knowledge is affected by perceived knowledge quality and trust in knowledge contributors. The results also suggest that perceived knowledge quality is determined by perceived level of collaboration, perceived objectivity, and recipient expertise, whereas trust in knowledge contributors is determined by natural propensity to trust and perceived objectivity. Theoretical and practical implications about mass collective knowledge are discussed.

As this need, the researchers developed a modular program for environmental values education suited elementary school's actuality. In practice of program development, researchers analyzed the contents of environmental education in current curriculum. Researchers set up development principles of modular program according to the level of elementary moral development. The system of this modular program consists of three levels like environmental awareness, environmental literacy, environmental responsibility, and each module is made up of three subjects representing these levels. So this modular program is classified with three level's modular group like low grade, center grade, and high grade. And set in array after selecting value strategies suited each grade level. The expectant effects of this program for environmental values education are as follows: Students form sound environmental values and attitudes for environment through various strategies that develop environmental awareness and environmental literacy. And those strategies provides various experiences to construct knowledge, value, and attitude about environment by oneself working together with teacher. So teacher and students can utilize easily at school or in nature. Besides, since it relates with single environmental problem from awareness to participation about environment, teachers can conduct elementary environmental curriculum more systematically and effectively.

  • Among various service characteristics, the physical environment is one of important contributors to service quality. In public service buildings, public community facilities serve as arena for education, social interaction, leisure, health activities for community districts. The purpose of this study is to investigate the physical state of public community facilities and expectations of users toward physical environment and service aspects. Site visits to four public community facilities and survey method were conducted for this study. One hundred ninety two questionnaires were analyzed. It is found that the majority of users are housewives and live near the community facilities. In order to provide more equal benefits and service to the public, it is suggested that smaller facilities should be provided in several sites instead of providing a large complex community facility to one area. Facility users indicated larger gaps between expectation and current state of the facilities regarding lack of storage, noise and ease to use. In general, physical characteristics should be more improved than employee's attitude and service behavior, which result in service quality.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the characteristics of coping behaviors of non-professional working mothers and find out the individual and situational factors which affect the degree of coping behaviors. For this research, the working mothers in non-professional job with children under age 18 answered the structured questionaire. The findings were as follows. First, the degree of coping behaviors was rather high in multiple role management strategies, strengthening family system and positive thinking, but rather low in housework socialization and role reduction/standard adjustment. Second, the effect of associated variables were different according to the subcategories of coping behaviors. So we conclude that, the coping behaviors of the non-professional working mothers were different from those of professional working mothers in some aspects, althought they have much similarities. The different aspects were 1) The relationship of family income and the degree of housework socialization was more evident. 2) The work-related variables did not affect the coping process significantly because of the conservative sex-role attitued of them. Second, non-professional working mothers should use coping behaviors such as housework socialization, role reduction/standard adjustment more for the more effective management of the role strain. Third, the attitude of occupational and parental role was one of the most important factors in using the role strain coping behaviors. And such an unconscious use of the coping behavior won't be helpful in the feeling of control over environment including role strain and active coping of working mothers.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the level of aggressive tax planning (ATP) among companies listed in the Access, Certainty, Efficiency (ACE) Market of Bursa Malaysia. On top of that, this study also investigates the relationship between company characteristics, ethnicity, and ATP. This study uses a balanced pooled sample of 105 firm years-observations for the period from 2014 to 2018. These samples were selected to provide new insight into this market and to explore the attitude of small firms toward ATP in Malaysia. The data was retrieved from DataStream and the downloaded annual reports. The finding shows that profitability and financial distress have a significant relationship with ATP. Other variables including size, capital intensity, inventory intensity, leverage, and ethnicity, were not determinants of ATP. The result in this study may assist the reader in understanding the nature of companies in the ACE market, particularly on its behavior toward tax planning. A strict requirement is needed to be adopted in the sample selection process, thus limiting the sample size. Further, since the previous study focused on large companies, the discussion of this paper will provide new insight into the nature of tax planning within the small- and medium-sized companies in Malaysia.
