Gunpowder was invented as a result of discovering the fact that potassium nitrate acts as an oxygen carrier in the process of manufacturing traditional medicine by heating the mixture of potassium nitrate and sulfur. Rapid progress was made in dynamite manufactring technology as a result of development of basic chemistry in Europe. However, recently the demand for dynamite has decreased in favor of the ANFO explosive which is improved production technology. This study was attempted to clear the historical facts concerned with the developing process of European eaplosive technology, and intended to submitt the reference materials for researchers.

We have attempted to synthesize polyhydroxy stilbene compounds through the benzyl thioether moiety. During synthesis, we unexpectedly observed that demethylation of the compound under $AlCl_3$ in ethanethiol resulted in a regioselective addition of thiol to the double bond as well as complete demethylation. We report on the regioselective short synthesis for general structure and its structural identification.

We have fabricated superconducting HTSC ceramic thick films by chemical process. c-axis oriented HTSC thick films have been attempted bi-axially textured Ni tapes. The x-ray diffraction pattern of the HTSC thick films contained superconducting phase crystal. The critical temperature and critical current density was 110K.

The writers have attempted to produce a portrait of municipal public libraries in their present stage of development. They have used the case of a Southeastern city anonymously described as 'Paek-tu'. The portrait vividly reveals the ignorance on the part of city educational officials who govern the public libraries and the frustration on the part of certified librarians. The writers have extensively relied on interviews, participant observation, and document resources for analysis.

(－)-${\alpha}$-narcotine( 1 R.9S) is one of the major bases in Papaver somniferum L.. the sourse plant for opium. while (－)-${\beta}$-narcotine(1R.9R) is a synthetic phthalideisoquinoline alkaloid. Although some advanced methods for the preparation of $\alpha$-narcotine have been developed using modified Bischler-Napieralski cyclization. the facile synthesis of $\beta$-narcotine has not further been attempted. supposingly because of its no clinical efficacy contrary to $\alpha$-narcotine having an antitussive effect. Immunoglobulin Y (IgY) obtained from chicken as the immunization host brings several advantages to antibody production, such as improved yield, lower cost, longer stability, and higher specificity than mammalian immunoglobulin. In the present study, we attempted to purify Maackia fauriei lectin using antilectin IgY-affinity chromatography in order to produce a good yield and to reduce the purification time. (omitted)

Child labour is a disturbing issue for any society. It is attempted here in this article to develop an estimator to assess the numerical strength of this menace in Lahore division. A Horvitz and Thompson (1952) type of estimator is developed where weights are calculated on the basis of poverty and illiteracy to increase the sampling efficiency. Different characteristic features of this estimator, like its unbiasedness, variance, probability distribution, confidence intervals are also developed for its study from different angles.

This paper attempted to suggest that Korean corporations are to infuse their TQC practice with strategic component. The general concept of TQC was reviewed. Then the nature of TQC systems in the two coon tries. U.S. and Japan. were analyzed. QC circles and the rank and file members of factories are the driving force of Japanese TQC whereas TQC in U. S. tends to be specialist-oriented in practice. Japanese market strategies were also discussed in order to examine the possible connection of Japanese TQC with Japanese corporations' competition strategies.

EEG(electroencephalogram) is attempted to determination of human emotion. Ten university students were participated in this study. Ten auditory stimuli were presented for a subject to evoke emotion. Data homogeneity according to brain local area and basic mechanism of relative variation for combinational delta, theta, alpha and beta waves were analyzed. As the result, the local area characterized by factor analysis and the relative variation of alpha-delta wave can be considered as the determinants of human emotion.
