  • 최근들어 발암성 혹은 돌연변이원성에 관련된 환경인의 영향에 관한 직접 혹은 간접적인 증거가 늘어감에 따라 대기환경에서 검출되는 화학적 발암성 물질에 많은 관심이 모아지고 있다. 수 많은 종류의 발암성 화학물질중 측히 독성 유기화합물은 주변환경에 널리 분포되어 있을 뿐만 아니라 그 종류가 매우 다양하여 적절한 관리가 어렵고 또한 일반적으로 대기중에 극미량 수준으로 존재하므로 측정, 분석이 어려워 그 위해성을 정확히 평가하기가 쉽지 않으므로 다른 물질보다 더 많은 연구와 관심의 대상이 되고 있다.(IARC, 1983; WHO, 1987; Calabrese & Kenyon, 1991; Field et al., 1992).

Experimental and Numerical Study of Aerosol Coagulation by Gravitation (에어로졸 입자의 중력응집에 관한 실험 및 수치적 연구)

  • The behavior of aerosos due to gravitational coagulation was studied experimentally and numerically. In experimental study, the geometric mean particel size increased as time elapsed in a vertical tube column, while the size decreased when the tube was set horizontally. The particle size distribution was observed to maintain the lognormal form during the coagulation process. Separately, numerical calculations were performed for studying the aerosol behavior under gravitational and Brownian coagulation using the moment method. By comparing the expeimented results with the numerical predictions, the governing mechanism of the aerosol behavior proved to be gravitational coagulation.

  • An aftertreatment device which reduce exhaust gas of natural gas vehicle(NGV), NGV catalyst has important meaning as to reduce the exhaust emission. In this study, the characteristics of NGV catalyst were investigated and the effect parameters of NGV catalyst were analyzed and were predicted by changing the various parameters such as temperature, and gas concentration. The conversion efficiency of NGV catalyst converter was also predicted by Pd-loading, mass flow rate and gas composition.

  • In this discussion, an optimum ozone control strategy for the city of Seoul is discussed based on the OZIPR simulation results for three cases. It is claimed that, for the periods we have simulated, it is best to decrease VOCs emissions and increase NO$_{x}$ emissions to reduce the ambient maximum ozone concentration.n.

  • Many air quality models have been used for Environmental impact assessments. Miller-Holzworth model suggested by Holzworth is a simple air quality model is frequently used for air quality assessments in korea. Miller-Holzworth model suggested by Holzworth is a simple air quality model for the ground-level area source, The model estimates the pollutants concentration averaged over the wind centerline. An error involved in the Miller-Holzworth model was first indentified by Calder in 1977. But the model has been used without correction for unsuitable cases in Korea. This paper corrected that error and modified model formulation for application to urban and rural areas.

  • The exposure level of respirable dust and silica for the coal workers of underground coal mines in Taebaek area was evaluated. Personal air samplers were attached to the coal workers-drillers, coal cutters, their helpers, haulers, and separators. Normality and lognormality of respirable dust and silica concentrations were tested by Kolmogorov-Smirnov one-sample test, differences of means of respirable dust and silica concentration were tested by group-t-test and paired t-test, and relation between respirable dust and silica concentration were tested by regression test.

A Study on the Air Pollution Potential in the Central Part of Korea (中部地方 各地의 大氣汚染潛在力에 관한 硏究)

  • Air pollution potentials of the 7 cities in the central part of Korea were obtained with the mean wind speed within the mixed layer and the mixed layer height calculated by the Jump Model. Seasonal variation of the afternoon mixed layer height in Seoul area shows that low in winter and high in summer. Annual mean of the morning air pollution potential was lowest in Incheon and highest in Wonju. On the other hand annual mean of the afternoon air pollution potential was lowest in Incheon and highest in Chuncheon. Relatively low air pollution potential in Incheon can be explained as high mixed layer height and the effect of sea breeze.

  • In this technical information, the springtime TSP measurement data between 1993 and 1996 at Kosan are presented. Based on the data, it was found that the concentrations of crustal species increase when Yellow Dust phenomenon occurs. Among anthropogenic species, the concentration of Pb and NO$_3$$^{[-10]}$ increase when Yellow Dust phenomenon occurs. Further research agenda are discussed to study the effects of Yellow Dust.

  • 우리 사회는 1970년대 이후 급속한 공업화와 대도시 인구 집중을 겪어왔다. 공업화는 필연적으로 대기오염배출시설의 증가를 가져왔고 도시의 인구집중은 연료의 사용과 자동차의 증가를 가져와 이들 지역의 대기오염을 증가시켰다. 이에 따라 대기오염배출시설을 관리하고 주변 지역의 영향을 분석하며 도시의 대기질을 개선하기 위하여 우리나라에서도 1970년대 후반부터 대기오염 모델들이 이용되기 시작하였다. 우리나라에서 이 분야에 대한 연구와 활용은 외국에 비하여 늦게 시작되었지만 지난 15년간 대기오염모델은 많은 분야에서 활용되어 왔고 연구도 점차 활발하여 지고 있다.
