  • To improve the low ductility and high strain-rate sensitivity in Sn-Bi based solder alloys, the influences of the minor additions of alloying elements (Ag, Mn, In) were investigated. The strain-stress curves of various Sn-40Bi(-X) alloys, including a pre-suggested Sn-40Bi-0.1Cu composition were measured using a tensile testing machine. As a result, the elongation and ultimate tensile strength (UTS) values were compared. The small addition (0.5 wt.%) of Ag significantly enhanced the ductility and high strain-rate sensitivity of the alloys at strain rates of $10^{-4}$ to $10^{-2}\;s^{-1}$ mainly due to the increase and refinement of eutectic lamellar structures. The microstructure change increased the area of grain boundaries, thus ameliorating the grain boundary sliding mode. It was also found that Mn is an effective element in enhancing the ductility, especially at the strain rates of $10^{-3}$ to $10^{-2}\;s^{-1}$ The enhancement is likely attributed to the fine and homogeneous microstructure in the alloys containing Mn.

  • $Bi_4Ti_3O_{12}$ (BIT) and $(Bi_{3.25}La_{0.75})(Ti_{2.97}V_{0.03})O_{12}$ (BLTV) thin films were deposited on ITO/glass substrates by metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) using ultrasonic spraying. After deposition of the films in oxygen atmosphere for 30 min, the films were heated by rapid thermal annealing (RTA) method, especially direct insertion, at various temperatures. The films were investigated on phase formation temperature, microstructure and electrical properties. From x-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns, the perovskite phase formation temperature of BLTV thin film was about $600^{\circ}C$ which was lower than that of BIT, $650^{\circ}C$. The leakage current of the BLTV thin film was measured to be $1.52\times 10^{-9}$A/$cm^2$ at an applied voltage of 1 V. The remanent polarization (Pr) and coercive field (Ec) values of the BLTV film deposited at $650^{\circ}C$ were $5.6\muC/cm^2$ and 96.5 kV/cm, respectively.

  • Widely used dielectrics, barium titanate was promising material for ceramic capacitor. It was produced by specific formulation with various dopants-La2O3, ZrO2, SnO2, CaZrO3, CaTiO3, CaSnO3, Bi2O3, and etc.-according to demanded properties of capacitor. In this study, we would examinate the study of dielectric properties and temperatuer characteristics (T.C.) with the amount of Bi2O3. The sample was prepared with [BaTiO3]10+[BaZrO3, SnO2, La2O3, ZrO2]10 and Bi2O3 varied from 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 to 3.0wt%. After milling and mixing for 15hrs, each sample was dried and then pressed at 700kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ into pellets. Pellets were fired at 131$0^{\circ}C$, for 3hrs in air. As the result of measurements, dielectric constant, break down voltage, and insulation resistance were increased with the amount of Bi2O3, and the resonant frequency was shifted from high frequency to low frequency range. In the case of temperature characteristics, capacitance change rate was symmetrically changed at -$25^{\circ}C$ and +85$^{\circ}C$ respectively. Therefore, it is recognized that the temperature characteristics can be moderated with doping Bi2O3 in our study.

  • I. Introduction Bi(痺) means blocking. It can reach at the joints or muscles or whole body and make pains. Numbness and movement disorders. BiJeung can be devided into SilBi and HeoBi. In SilBi there are PungHanSeupBi, YeolBi and WanBi. In HeoBi, there are GiHyeolHeoBi, EumHeoBi and YangHeoBi. The common principle for the treatment of BiJeung is devision of the chronic stage and the acute stage. In the acute stage, BiJeung is usually cured easily but in the chronic stage, it is difficult. In the terminal stage, BiJeung can reach at the internal organs. BiJeung is one kind of symptoms making muscles, bones and jonts feel pain, numbness or edema. For example it can be gout or SLE etc. Many famous doctors studied medical science by their fathers or teachers. So the history of medical science is long. So I studied ${\ll}Bijeungjujip{\gg}$. II. Final Decision 1. BanSuMun(斑秀文) thought that BiJeung can be cured by blocking of blood stream. So he insisted that the important thing to cure BiJeung is to improve the blood stream. • Purpose: We sought to evaluate the effectiveness of bone substitutes in circumferential periimplant defects created in the rabbit tibia. Methods: Thirty rabbits received 45 implants in their left and right tibia. A circumferential bone defect (6.1 mm in diameter/4 mm depth) was created in each rabbit tibia using a trephine bur. A dental implant ($4.1mm{\times}8.5mm$) was installed after the creation of the defect, providing a 2-mm gap. The bone defect gaps between the implant and the bone were randomly filled according to the following groups: blood clot (CO), particulate Bio-Oss$^{(R)}$ (BI), and Bio-Oss$^{(R)}$ Collagen (BC). Ten animals were euthanized after periods of 15, 30, and 60 days. Biomechanical analysis by means of the removal torque of the implants, as well as histologic and immunohistochemical analyses for protein expression of osteocalcin (OC), Runx2, OPG, RANKL, and TRAP were evaluated. Results: For biomechanics, BC showed a better biological response ($61.00{\pm}15.28Ncm$) than CO ($31.60{\pm}14.38Ncm$) at 30 days. Immunohistochemical analysis showed significantly different OC expression in CO and BC at 15 days, and also between the CO and BI groups, and between the CO and BC groups at 60 days. After 15 days, Runx2 expression was significantly different in the BI group compared to the CO and BC groups. RANKL expression was significantly different in the BI and CO groups and between the BI and BC groups at 15 days, and also between the BI and CO groups at 60 days. OPG expression was significantly higher at 60 days postoperatively in the BI group than the CO group. Conclusions: Collectively, our data indicate that, compared to CO and BI, BC offered better bone healing, which was characterized by greater RUNX2, OC, and OPG immunolabeling, and required greater reversal torque for implant removal. Indeed, along with BI, BC presents promising biomechanical and biological properties supporting its possible use in osteoconductive grafts for filling peri-implant gaps.

  • The effects of $Nb_2O_5$ and $MnO_2$ on the positive temperature coefficient of resistivity (PTCR) behavior of lead-free $Ba_{0.99}(Bi_{1/2}Na_{1/2})_{0.01}TiO_3$ (BaBiNT) ceramics were investigated in order to fabricate a PTC thermistor available at high temperature of > $120^{\circ}C$. In particular, 0.05 mol% $Nb_2O_5$ added BaBiNT ceramic, which has significantly increased Curie temperature (Tc) of $160^{\circ}C$, showed good PTCR behavior; low resistivity at room temperature $(\rho_r)$ of $80.1{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$, a high $\rho_{max}/\rho_{min}$ ratio of $5.65{\times}10^3$ and a large resistivity temperature factor (a) of 18.5%/$^{\circ}C$. Furthermore, the improved $\rho_{max}/\rho_{min}$ of $6.48{\times}10^4$ and a of 25.4%/$^{\circ}C$ along with higher $T_c$ of $167^{\circ}C$ despite slightly increased $\rho_r$ of $569{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$, could be obtained for the BaBiNT + 0.05 mol% $Nb_2O_5$ + 0.02 wt% $MnO_2$ ceramic cooled down at a rate of $200^{\circ}C/h$.

  • Sn-3Ag-8Bi-5In was developed for the intermediate melting point solder. Although In-contained solder is expensive, its melting point is lower than these of Sn-Ag-Cu alloys. Sn-3Ag-8Bi-5In solder used for this research has a melting range of 188~$204^{\circ}C$. On this study wetting characteristics of Sn-3Ag-8Bi-5In were evaluated in order to investigate its availability as a Pb-free solder. Wettabilities of Sn-37Pb and Sn-3.5Ag solders were also studied to compare these of the Sn-3Ag-8Bi-5In. Experimental results showed that the zero-cross-time and wetting time at $240^{\circ}C$ for the Sn-3Ag-8Bi-5In were 1.1 and 2.2 second respectively. These values are a little better than these of Sn-37Pb and Sn-3.5Ag solders. The equilibrium wetting farce of the Sn-3Ag-8Bi-5In was 5.8 mN at $240^{\circ}C$, and it was tuned out to be a little higher than that of Sn-3.5Ag and lower than that of Sn-37Pb.

  • This study is to investigate the effective mineralizer in the manufacture of forsterite porcelain as a high frequency insulator. A mixture of $Mg(OH)_2$. and $SiO_2$.($\alpha$-Quartz) corresponding to the molar ratio of 2.0 MgO: 1.0 $SiO_2$ was prepared from the materials of high purity. It was heated to 140$0^{\circ}C$ at the rate of 20$0^{\circ}C$/hr, which was kept constantly for 1 hour, and one has made chamotte after cooling. Six kinds of glasses were prepared by an 0.1 atomic equivalent of K ions substitution-Ba, Bi, Zn, Cd, Zr-to the basic K-glass (0.333 $K_2O$.1.14 $SiO_2$) and were melted approximately at 150$0^{\circ}C$. The forsterite bodies were provided by adding each glass (10, 15, 20, 25, 30%) to the forsterite chamotte, which was fired at 1320, 1360, 1400, 144$0^{\circ}C$. (1 hr). One has examined the physical and dielectric properties for the specimens. The results of the experiments are as follows; 1. As for water absorption: Bodies were better vitrified with an addition and temperature change of Ba, Bi, Zn-glasses. The specimen containing Cd-glass showed deviation of slow decreasing, where as K-glass was completely not vitrified. 2. Bodies containing Ba, Zn, Bi-glasses appeared comparatively high Modulus of Rupture at 136$0^{\circ}C$, while containing Zr-glass had the highest Modulus of Rupture as the addition changes remarkably at 140$0^{\circ}C$. 3. It was estimated that 20-25% glass present in a forsterite bodies were in good conditions as for physical properties. 4. Specimens of Ba, Bi, Zr-glasses were superior as for dielectric properties, where among Ba-glass was most excellent. 5. Dielectric constant commonly increases in a slight gradient as firing temperature rises. 6. The petrographic examination showed that the bodies containing Ba, Bi-glasses had fine crystals, and were observed distinctly large mosaic crystals in the Zn-glass.
