The miniaturization technologies are perceived as potential key technologies of the future. They will bring about completely different ways in which people and machines interact with the physical world. However, at the present time, the primary technologies used fur miniaturization are dependent on the microelectronic fabrication techniques. The principal shortcomings associated with such techniques are related to the inability of to produce arbitrary three-dimensional features not only in electronics but also in a wide range of metallic materials. In this paper, a ultramicro-stereolithography system assisted with a femto-second laser was developed to fabricate the arbitrary three-dimensional nano/micro-scaled features. In the developed process, a femto-second laser is projected according to CAD data on a photosensitive monomer resin, it induces polymerization of the liquid resin. After the polymerization, a droplet of ethanol is dropped to remove the liquid resin and then the polymerized nano-scaled features only remain. By a newly developed process, miniature devices for an extremely wide range of applications would become a technologically feasible reality. Some of nano/micro-scaled features as examples were fabricated to prove the usefulness of this study at the fundamental stage.
Using qualitative research methodology, this study has investigated the semantic features of 39 nouns, which are classified into the categories of grains, fruits and vegetables. A survey has been conducted with a substantial number of undergraduate students, who were asked to describe any semantic features they associated with the lexical items within the three categories. The analysis of the survey data shows that the concepts of examples of fruits are defined predominantly by intrinsic semantic features, while those of grains and vegetables are defined noticeably by extrinsic semantic features rather than intrinsic ones. Intrinsic semantic features are any properties inherent in an object itself and extrinsic semantic features are defined as any properties constructed by association with other objects or personal experiences in a certain situation. However, this study does not maintain that either intrinsic or extrinsic semantic features solely define the concepts of the examples of the three categories. Instead, it concludes that both kinds of semantic features are involved in the representation of the concepts of those vocabularies, with intrinsic features salient in the category of fruits and extrinsic features salient in the categories of gains and vegetables.
On 21 September 2010, one of Chuseok holidays in Korea, localized heavy rainfalls occurred over the midwestern region of the Korean peninsula. In this study MTSAT-2 infrared and water vapor channel imagery are examined to find out some features which are obvious in each stage of the life cycle of convective cell for this heavy rain event. Also the kinematic and thermodynamic features probably associated with them are investigated. The first clouds related with the Chuseok heavy rain are detected as low-level multicell cloud (brightness temperature: $-15{\sim}0^{\circ}C$) in the middle of the Yellow sea at 1630~1900 UTC on 20 Sept., which are probably associated with the convergence at 1000 hPa. Convective cells are initiated in the vicinity of Shantung peninsula at 1933 UTC 20, which have developed around the edge of the dark region in water vapor images. At two times of 0033 and 0433 UTC 21 the merging of two convective cells happens near midwestern coast of the peninsula and then they have developed rapidly. From 0430 to 1000 UTC 21, key features of convective cell include repeated formation of secondary cell, slow horizontal cloud motion, persistence of lower brightness temperature ($-75{\sim}-65^{\circ}C$), and relatively small cloud size (${\leq}-50^{\circ}C$) of about $30,000km^2$. Radar analysis showed that this heavy rain is featured by a narrow line-shaped rainband with locally heavy rainrate (${\geq}50$ mm/hr), which is located in the south-western edge of the convective cell. However there are no distinct features in the associated synoptic-scale dynamic forcing. After 1000 UTC 21 the convective cell grows up quickly in cloud size and then is dissipated. These satellite features may be employed for very short range forecast and nowcasting of mesoscale heavy rain system.

We reviewed clinical studies investigating the pharmacological treatment of major depressive episodes (MDEs) with mixed features diagnosed according to the dimensional criteria (more than two or three [hypo]manic symptoms+principle depressive symptoms). We systematically reviewed published randomized controlled trials on the pharmacological treatment of MDEs with mixed features associated with mood disorders, including major depressive disorder (MDD) and bipolar disorder (BD). We searched the PubMed, Cochrane Library, and ClinicalTrials.gov databases through December 2017 with the following key word combinations linked with the word OR: (a) mixed or mixed state, mixed features, DMX, mixed depression; (b) depressive, major depressive, MDE, MDD, bipolar, bipolar depression; and (c) antidepressant, antipsychotic, mood stabilizer, anticonvulsant, treatment, medication, algorithm, guideline, pharmacological. We followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. We found few randomized trials on pharmacological treatments for MDEs with mixed features. Of the 36 articles assessed for eligibility, 11 investigated MDEs with mixed features in mood disorders: six assessed the efficacy of antipsychotic drugs (lurasidone and ziprasidone) in the acute phase of MDD with mixed features, although four of these were post hoc analyses based on large randomized controlled trials. Four studies compared antipsychotic drugs (olanzapine, lurasidone, and ziprasidone) with placebo, and one study assessed the efficacy of combination therapy (olanzapine+fluoxetine) in the acute phase of BD with mixed features. Pharmacological treatments for MDEs with mixed features have focused on antipsychotics, although evidence of their efficacy is lacking. Additional well-designed clinical trials are needed.

Background: Clinical spectrum of immunoglobulin M (IgM) monoclonal gammopathy varies from IgM monoclonal gammopathy of unknown significance (IgM-MGUS) to hematological malignancies. We evaluated the clinical features, electrophysiological characteristics, and prognosis of patients with peripheral neuropathy associated with IgM monoclonal gammopathy (PN-IgM MG). Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 25 patients with PN-IgM MG. Peripheral neuropathy was classified as axonal, demyelinating, or undetermined, based on electrophysiological studies. We classified the enrolled patients into the IgM-MGUS and malignancy groups, and compared the clinical and electrophysiological features between the groups. Results: Fifteen patients had IgM-MGUS and 10 had hematologic malignancies (Waldenström's macroglobulinemia: two and B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma: eight). In the electrophysiological evaluation, the nerve conduction study (NCS) criteria for demyelination were met in 86.7% of the IgM-MGUS group and 10.0% of the malignancy group. In particular, the distal latencies of the motor NCS in the IgM-MGUS group were significantly prolonged compared to those in the malignancy group (median, 9.1 ± 5.1 [IgM-MGUS], 4.2 ± 1.3 [malignancy], p = 0.003; ulnar, 5.4 ± 1.9 [IgM-MGUS], 2.9 ± 0.9 [malignancy], p = 0.001; fibular, 9.3 ± 5.1 [IgM-MGUS], 3.8 ± 0.3 [malignancy], p = 0.01; P-posterior tibial, 8.3 ± 5.4 [IgM-MGUS], 4.4 ± 1.0 [malignancy], p = 0.04). Overall treatment responses were significantly worse in the malignancy group than in the IgM-MGUS group (p = 0.004), and the modified Rankin Scale score at the last visit was higher in the malignancy group than in the IgM-MGUS group (2.0 ± 1.1 [IgM-MGUS], 4.2 ± 1.7 [malignancy], p = 0.001), although there was no significant difference at the initial assessment. Conclusions: The risk of hematological malignancy should be carefully assessed in patients with PN-IgM MG without electrophysiological demyelination features.
Most of the gold (-silver) vein deposits at Yeongdong District are mainly distributed in the precambrian metamorphic rocks. Based on the Ag/Au total production and ore grade ratios, the chemical composition of electrum and the associated sulfides, the gold(-silver) deposits at Yeongdong District may be classified into 4 classes: pyrrhotite - type gold deposits( I), pyrite - type gold deposits (IT A; massive vein), pyrite - type gold deposits (II B; nonmassive vein) and argentite - type gold - silver deposits(III). The chemical study on electrum(including native gold) revealed that Au content (2.8 to 92.4 atomic%) of electrums varies very widely for different classes of deposits. The Au content of electrum associated with pyrrhotite (Class I), ranging from 47.1 to 92.4 atomic% Au, is clearly higher than that associated with pyrite (Classes IIA, IIB and III). In contrast, classes I, II, and III deposits do not show clear differences in Au content of electrum. In general, pyrrhotite - type gold deposits(I) are characterized by features such as simply massive vein morphology, low values in the Ag/Au total production and ore grade ratios, the absence or rarity of silver - bearing minerals except electrum, and distinctively simple mineralogy. Although the geological and mineralogical features and vein morphology of pyrite - type gold deposits(IIA)are very similar to those of pyrrhotite - type gold deposits (I), Class II A deposits reveal significant differences in the associated iron sulfide (i. e. pyrite) with electrum and Au content of electrum. The Ag/Au total production and ore grade ratios from Class II A deposits are relatively slightly higher than those from Class I deposits. Pyrite - type gold deposits(II B) and argentite - type gold - silver deposits (III) have many common features; complex vein morphology, medium to high values in the Ag/Au total production and ore grade ratios and the associated iron sulfide (i. e. pyrite). In contrast to Class II B deposits, Class III deposits have significantly high Ag/Au total production and ore grade ratios. It indicates distinct difference in the abundance of silver minerals (i. e. native silver and argentite). The fluid inclusion analyses and mineralogical data of electrum tarnish method indicate that the gold mineralization of Classes I and II A deposits was deposited at temperatures between $230^{\circ}$ and $370^{\circ}C$, whereas the gold (-silver) mineralization of Classes ITB and ill formed from the temperature range of $150^{\circ}-290^{\circ}C$. Therefore, Classes I and IT A deposits have been formed at higher temperature condition and/or deeper positions than Classes IIB and III.

Mechanical parts are often grouped into part families based on the similarity of their shapes, to support efficient manufacturing process planning and design modification. The 2-part sequence papers present similarity assessment techniques to support part family classification for machined parts. These exploit the multiple feature decompositions obtained by the feature recognition method using convex decomposition. Convex decomposition provides a hierarchical volumetric representation of a part, organized in an outside-in hierarchy. It provides local accessibility directions, which supports abstract and qualitative similarity assessment. It is converted to a Form Feature Decomposition (FFD), which represents a part using form features intrinsic to the shape of the part. This supports abstract and qualitative similarity assessment using positive feature volumes.. FFD is converted to Negative Feature Decomposition (NFD), which represents a part as a base component and negative machining features. This supports a detailed, quantitative similarity assessment technique that measures the similarity between machined parts and associated machining processes implied by two parts' NFDs. Features of the NFD are organized into branch groups to capture the NFD hierarchy and feature interrelations. Branch groups of two parts' NFDs are matched to obtain pairs, and then features within each pair of branch groups are compared, exploiting feature type, size, machining direction, and other information relevant to machining processes. This paper, the second one of the two companion papers, describes the similarity assessment method using NFD.

Recent three-dimensional feature-based CAD systems based on solid or non-manifold modelling functionality have been widely used for product design in manufacturing companies. When product models associated with features are used in various downstream applications such as analysis, however, simplified and abstracted models at various levels of detail (LODs) are frequently more desirable and useful than the full detailed model. To provide multi-resolution models, the features need to be rearranged according to a criterion that measures the significance of the feature. However, if the features are rearranged, the resulting shape is possibly different from the original because union and subtraction Boolean operations are not commutative. To solve this problem, in this paper, the new concept of the effective zone of a feature is defined and identified using Boolean algebra. By introducing the effective zone, an arbitrary rearrangement of features becomes possible and arbitrary LOD criteria may be selected to suit various applications. Besides, because the effective zone of a feature is independent of the data structure of the model, the multi-resolution modelling algorithm based on the effective zone can be implemented on any 3D CAD system based on conventional solid representations as well as non-manifold topological (NMT) representations.

The novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection has been spreading worldwide since December 2019. Hundreds of cases of children and adolescents with Kawasaki disease (KD)-like hyperinflammatory illness have been reported in Europe and the United States during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic with or without shock and cardiac dysfunction. These patients tested positive for the polymerase chain reaction or antibody test for SARS-CoV-2 or had a history of recent exposure to COVID-19. Clinicians managing such patients coined new terms for this new illness, such as COVID-19-associated hyperinflammatory response syndrome, pediatric inflammatory multisystem syndrome temporally associated with COVID-19, or COVID-19-associated multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C). The pathogenesis of MIS-C is unclear; however, it appears similar to that of cytokine storm syndrome. MIS-C shows clinical features similar to KD, but differences between them exist with respect to age, sex, and racial distributions and proportions of patients with shock or cardiac dysfunction. Recommended treatments for MIS-C include intravenous immunoglobulin, corticosteroids, and inotropic or vasopressor support. For refractory patients, monoclonal antibody to interleukin-6 receptor (tocilizumab), interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (anakinra), or monoclonal antibody to tumor necrosis factor (infliximab) may be recommended. Patients with coronary aneurysms require aspirin or anticoagulant therapy. The prognosis of MIS-C seemed favorable without sequelae in most patients despite a reported mortality rate of approximately 1.5%.
