An Empirical Study for Performance Evaluation of Web Personalization Assistant Systems (웹 기반 개인화 보조시스템 성능 평가를 위한 실험적 연구)

  • At this time, the two main techniques for achieving web personalization assistant systems generally concern direct manipulation and software agents. While both direct manipulation and software agents are intended for permitting user to complete tasks rapidly, efficiently, and easily, their methodologies are different. The central debate involving these web personalization techniques originates from the amount of control that each allows to, or holds back from, the users. Direct manipulation can provide users with comprehensibel, predictable and controllable user interfaces that give them a feeling of accomplishnent and responsibility. On the other hand, the intelligent software components, the agents, can assist users with artificial intelligence by monitoring or retrieving personal histories or behaviors. In this empirical study, two web personalization assistant systems are evaluated. One of them, WebPersonalizer, is an agent based user personalization tool; the other, AntWorld, is a collaborative recommendation tool which provides direct manipulation interfaces. Through this empirical study, we have focused on two different paradigms as web personalization assistant systems : direct manipulation and software agents. Each approach has its own advantages and disadvantages. We also provide the experimental result that is worth referring for developers of electronic commerce system and suggest the methodologies for conveniently retrieving necessary information based on their personal needs.

The Factors Associated with Job Satisfaction of Assistant Nurses in General Hospitals (종합병원 간호조무사들의 직무만족도와 관련요인)

  • Background : The main aim of this study was to analyze the factors that could be used to predict job satisfaction of assistant nurses in general hospitals. Material and Methods : This study was based on a survey of assistant nurses in the Daegu region from January 1, 2006 to January 31, 2006. Originally 300 questionnaires were distributed and among them 291 were completed. The data was collected and used for the statistical analysis. Descriptive and inferential statistics, such as the frequency, t-test and one-way ANOVA were used for the analysis. Results : Among the respondents, the average score for job satisfaction was lowest in the university-trained nurses and highest in the nurses who had only graduated from high school. Conclusion : The working conditions, work place and motivation are significantly associated with job satisfaction. In particular, there was lower job satisfaction in those nurses who wanted to change their occupation.

The Evaluation of Usefulness New Assistant Device to Observe Posterior Cruciate Ligament Rupture and Patellofemoral Joint Injury in Emergency Patient (응급환자에서 후방십자인대 손상 및 슬대퇴 관절을 관찰하기 위한 보조기구 제작 및 유용성 평가)

  • This study evaluates usefulness of the developed assistant device by taking projection of patellofemoral joint in emergency patients who were doubt posterior cruciate ligament injury in knee joint. The subjects of experiment were patients who visited Eul-Ji University Hospital due to knee injury from January 2006 to December 2006. Seventeen patients, who took the Knee post stress view, Knee merchant view, Knee Seo's view to use assistant device and Knee MRI. To make assistant device of 170×50×70cm, we evaluated its usefulness by measuring posterior dislocation of tibia. Seo's view is more accurate to make judgment of posterior cruciate ligament injury than original knee post stress view. Interval difference of posterior dislocation of original knee post stress view is 6.17±3.04 and Seo's view is 8.74±4.47. The results show injury of patellofemoral joint, vertical fracture of patella and posterior cruciate ligament injury by taking a projection using Seo's view. Therefore, it is useful to take projection earlier than talometer and MRI in emergency patients who were doubt posterior cruciate ligament injury in knee joint.

The Relationship between Psychological Exhaustion and Turnover Intention of PAS Assistants for Disabled People: Focusing on Mediating Effects of Social Support of Dedicated Workforce (장애인 활동지원사의 심리적 소진과 이직의도의 관계 : 전담인력의 사회적 지지 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the structural relationship between psychological exhaustion, turnover intention, and social support of the dedicated workforce in order to investigate the effects of social support on psychological exhaustion, turnover intention of PAS assistant. Based on the results of the study, this study attempted to make the basic data for devising method to alleviate the intention to turnover of disabled PAS assistant. It was intended to help improve the quality of the activity support service. For this purpose, a questionnaire consisting of psychological exhaustion, turnover intention, and social support measures was conducted to 274 PAS Assistants of 11 service agencies in Seoul to verify the mediating effect of social support. In this study, the psychological exhaustion of PAS Assistants's showed a positive correlation, and the social support of the dedicated personnel perceived by the PAS Assistants's showed a negative correlation with the psychological exhaustion. Also, the social support of the dedicated workforce partially mediated the causal relationship between psychological exhaustion and turnover intention. The results of this study suggests that the social support of the dedicated personnel dedicated to support activities is high in reducing the psychological burnout and turnover intention of the PAS Assistant, it means that the social support of a dedicated workforce is an important resource in reducing the turnover intention.

Impact on Job Satisfaction to Job Stress of Physician Assistant Nurses (Physician Assistant(PA)간호사의 직무스트레스가 직무만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aims to investigate the factors influencing job satisfaction to job stress of physician assistant(PA) nurses. This research design was a descriptive study. The subjects in this study were 104 PA nurses. Data were collected from September 1, 2010 to January 10, 2011, and analyzed by SPSS PASW statistics 18.0 program. The mean score of men on the job stress was 43.47(±13.77), The mean score of women was 45.07(±9.78). The mean score of job satisfaction was 2.72(±0.30). There was no statistical difference between general characteristics and job satisfaction. There were statistical difference between unmarried subjects and organizing system(p<.05), inadequate compensation(p<.01). In the results of multivariate regression analysis, adjusted R2 value was 0.567. The model fit was 56.7%. Job satisfaction was low in the insufficient job control and inadequate organizing system. It is hospital policies for the reduction of job stress(particularly, insufficient job control, and organizing system stress).

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been inserted into people's lives through Intelligent Virtual Assistants (IVA), like Alexa. Moreover, intelligent systems have expanded to design studios. This research delves into designers' perspectives on developing AI-based practices and examines the challenges of adopting future intelligent design assistants. We surveyed UX/UI professionals in Brazil to understand how they use IVAs and AI design tools. We also explored a scenario featuring the use of Alexa Sensei, a hypothetical voice-controlled AI-based design assistant mixing Alexa and Adobe Sensei characteristics. The findings indicate respondents have had limited opportunities to work with AI, but they expect intelligent systems to improve the efficiency of the design process. Further, majority of the respondents predicted that they would be able to collaborate creatively with AI design systems. Although designers anticipated challenges in natural language interaction, those who already adopted IVAs were less resistant to the idea of working with Alexa Sensei as an AI design assistant.
