A Study on Load Balanced Routing and Wavelength Assignment Algorithm for Wavelength Routed Optical Networks (파장 분할 광 네트워크에서 로드 밸런싱 기법을 적용한 라우팅 및 파장할당 알고리즘 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose load balanced routing and wavelength assignment (RWA) algorithm for static model. The proposed algorithm arranges the routing paths over the link uniformly and assigns routing paths according to the length of routing paths orderly. Thus, the proposed algorithm can efficiently utilize the network resources. Through the computer simulation on layered-graph model, we prove that the proposed algorithm improves network throughput and reduces blocking probability comparing to first-fit algorithm [1]. Moreover, the proposed algorithm considerably reduces computational time.

  • In order to regulate the cutting force at a desired level during peripheral end milling processes a feedrate override Adaptive Control Constraint (ACC) system was developed. The feedrate override function was accomplished through a development of programmable machine controller (PMC) interface technique on the NC controller, Nonlinear model of the cutting process was linearized as an adaptive model with a time varying process parameter. An integral type estimator was introduced for on-line estimation of the cutting process parameter, Zero order hold digital control methodology which uses pole-assignment concept for tuning of PI controllers was applied for the ACC system. Performance of the ACC system wsa confirmed on the vertical machining center equipped with fanuc OMC through a large amount of experiment.

  • In this paper, in order to obtain a disturbance decouplable as well as effective and disturbance suppressible controller, a simultaneous assignment methodology of the left and right eigenstructure is proposed. The biorthogonality property between the left and right model matrices of a system as well as the relations between the achievable right model matrix and states selsction matrices are used to develop the methodology. the proposed concurrent eigenstructure assignment methodologh guarantees that the desired eigenvalues are achieved exactly and the desired left and right eigenvectors are assigned to the best possible(achievable) sets of eigenvectors in the least square sense, respectively.

  • In this paper, an approach is presented for determining the required storage capacity of a warehouse with leased public space. Storage assignment policies considered are randomized and class-based storage assignment policies. An analytic model for each of the storage policies is formulated with the objective of minimizing the cost of owned storage space and leased space while satisfying a desired service level of protection against space shortages. Cost functions used in the models are piecewise liear with fixed costs. For the models, algorithms are developed to generate optimal solutions. The approach is applied to the systems where the standard economic-order-quantity inventory model is used for all items being stored in the warehouse.

  • In FMS where tool movement policy is adopted, a mathematical model has been developed which determines the selection of a tool type for each operation and tool loading-part assignment simultaneouly. The objective is to minimize the total cost of operation including machining time cost, tool cost, tool replacement and loading time cost, and tool change time cost. Due to the complexity of the problem, an approximate solution procedure has been developed utilizing the special structure of the model. Tool selection was determined first to allocate one tool type to each operation considering more than one tool type alternatives for each operation. Tool loading-part assignment was determined to minimize tile total number of tool changes due to part mix based on the tool selection.

  • Most control system design problems involve finding state feedback gain for good response by the pole or characteristic polynomial assignment. In this paper, the characteristic polynomial assignment using PID controller for discrete 2-dimensional system descrived by the Fornasini-Marchesini's 2nd model (F-MM II) is considered. This method it not only available to F-MM II but also to Rosser's model.

  • In parts assignment problem for FMS, both the parts and the tools required to process the parts are assigned to the machine tools for a specified planning period. This is an important decision-making problem for a short-term production planning of FMS. In this paper, parts assignment problem for FMS was analyzed to determine the optimal plan which has the adaptability to production fluctuation. A mathematical model was developed for determing the parts and the tools required for the machine tools which compose FMS, and the model was analyzed to obtain optimal solution. In addition, the vality and feasibility of the computational algorithm was examined by solving a numerical example.

  • As static traffic assignment has reached its limitation with ITS policy applications and due to the increase of interest in studies of ITS policies since the late 1980's, dynamic traffic assignment has been considered a tool to overcome such limitations. This study used the Dynameq program, which simulates route choice behavior by macroscopic modeling and dynamic network loading and traffic flow by microscopic modeling in consideration of the feasibility of the analysis of practical traffic policy. The essence of this study is to evaluate the feasibility for analysis in practical transportation policy of using the dynamic traffic assignment technique. The study involves the verification of the values estimated from the dynamic traffic assignment with South Korea's expressway network and dynamic O/D data by comparing results with observed link traffic volumes. This study used dynamic O/D data between each toll booth, which can be accurately obtained from the highway Toll Collection System. Then, as an example of its application, exclusive bus-lane policies were analyzed with the dynamic traffic assignment model while considering hourly variations.

  • This study is focussed on optimization problems which require allocating the restricted inventory to demand points and assignment of vehicles to routes in order to deliver goods for demand sites with optimal decision. This study investigated an integrated model using three step-by-step approach based on relationship that exists between the inventory allocation and vehicle routing with restricted amount of inventory and transportations. we developed several sub-models such as; first, an inventory-allocation model, second a vehicle-routing model based on clustering and a heuristic algorithms, and last a vehicle routing scheduling model, a TSP-solver, based on genetic algorithm. Also, for each sub-models we have developed computer programs and by a sample run it was known that the proposed model to be a very acceptable model for the inventory-allocation and vehicle routing problems.
