양면 조립라인 밸런싱을 위한 유전알고리듬 (A Genetic Algorithm for Two-sided Assembly Line Balancing)

  • Two-sided (left- and right-sided) assembly lines in practice can provide several advantages over one-sided lines in terms of the required line length, throughput time, cost of tools and fixtures, and so on. This paper considers two-sided assembly line balancing with the objective of minimizing line length. The balancing problem is more complicated than that of one-sided lines due to sequence-dependency of tasks assigned to a pair of directly facing workstations. This paper shows how genetic algorithm can be used to solve two-sided assembly line balancing. For this, an encoding and a decoding method suitable to the problem are presented. Proper genetic operators and an evalutation function are also employed. Extensive computational experiments are carried out to show the efficacy of the proposed algorithm. The results show that the algorithm is viable and promising in solution quality and computation time.

Time Dependent Extension and Failure Analysis of Structural Adhesive Assemblies Under Static Load Conditions

  • The objective of the current study is to characterize the long-term stability and efficacy of a structural adhesive assembly under static load. An apparatus was designed to be used in the Instron tensile test machine that would allow for real time modeling of the failure characteristics of an assembly utilizing a moisture- cure adhesive which was bonded to concrete. A regression model was developed that followed a linear - natural log function which was used to predict the expected life of the assembly. Evaluations at different curing times confirmed the structure was more robust with longer cure durations prior to loading. Finally, the results show that under the conditions the assembly was tested, there was only a small amount of inelastic creep and the regression models demonstrated the potential for a stable structure lasting several decades.

  • 본 논문에서는 LED 생산 조립 공정에서의 시뮬레이션 분석모델을 제안한다. 모델의 목적은 LED 공정설계에 있어서의 여러 대안의 성능에 대해 평가하는 것이다. 시뮬레이션 모델을 개발하기 위하여 먼저 시간연구가 수행되었다. 동시에 ARENA 시뮬레이션 도구를 이용하여 공정분석을 수행하였다. 이 결과 LED 공정에 있어서의 문제점이 적시되었고 이를 개선하기 위한 대안이 논의되었다.

  • Time and temperature, pH and Aw, and microbiological evaluation were made to identify critical control points during various phases in product flow of chicken soup preparation in a university foodservice establishment. The results are summarised as follows: 1) Time and temperature data indicated that the phases of cooling after cooking, post-preparation, and holding ingredients at room temperature before assembly were critical. 2) pH and Aw values were in favorable for microbial growth. 3) Microbiological data indicated that the phases of basic ingredients. post-preparation and holding ingredients before assembly were critical. 4) Critical control points identified were; basic ingredients, cooling after cooking, post-preparation, holding before assembly and service, and assembly and service. 5) Several guidelines were suggested for the effective qualitly control program.

  • Since robotic assembly in an unstructured environment is very difficult with existing control methods, studies using artificial intelligence such as reinforcement learning have been conducted. However, since long-time operation of a robot for learning in the real environment adversely affects the robot, so a method to shorten the learning time is needed. To this end, a method based on a pre-trained neural network was proposed in this study. This method showed a learning speed about 3 times than the existing methods, and the stability of reward during learning was also increased. Furthermore, it can generate a more optimal policy than not using a pre-trained neural network. Using the proposed reinforcement learning-based assembly trajectory generator, 100 attempts were made to assemble the power connector within a random error of 4.53 mm in width and 3.13 mm in length, resulting in 100 successes.

  • 자동차 산업은 전 세계적으로 매출액이 1조 달러가 넘고 1천만 명 이상을 고용하고 있는 세계최대 제조업으로서, 약 2만 여개의 부품으로 완성되는 복합적 성격의 대표적인 산업이며 자동차 조립공정은 도장된 차체에 약 3천여 종의 내장, 계기판, 시트, 유리, 엔진, 트랜스미션, 차축 등의 유닛(Unit)을 조립하는 노동집약적 공정으로, 타 공정에 비해 자동화 비율이 가장 낮은 특징을 가지고 있다. 또한, 현재의 자동차 조립공정은 작업자의 조립작업에 대한 실시간 모니터링이 이루어지고 있지 못한 실정으로, 작업자의 작업 공구위치 측정시스템의 도입을 통해 공구의 위치를 실시간으로 파악하고 분석하여 일관된 작업 순서를 지시하면서 작업의 누락 및 가감을 체크한다면, 자동차 제조공정에서 발생할 수 있는 불량을 사전에 차단하여 조립공정의 생산성 및 품질향상을 이룰 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 작업자의 작업공구 위치 측정 시스템의 도입을 통해 일관된 작업 순서를 지시하면서 작업의 누락 및 가감을 체크하고, 제조공정에서 발생할 수 있는 조립불량을 사전에 차단하여 조립공정의 생산성 및 품질향상을 이룰 수 있는 실시간 공구 위치추적 시스템의 구성을 위하여 UWB(Ultra Wide Band) 무선측위를 활용한 공구의 실시간 위치추적시스템을 개발하고 그 효용성을 증명하고자 한다.

  • Web Services for CAD (WSC) aims at interoperation with CAD systems based on Web Services. This paper introduces one part of WSC which enables remote users to retrieve assembly model data using Web Services. However, retrieving assembly model data takes long time. To resolve this problem, this paper proposes using parallel Web Services. As assembly models comprise a set of part models, it is easy to separate the problem domain into smaller problems. In addition, Web Services inherently supports distributed computing. This characteristic makes the parallel processing of Web Services easy. Firstly, the implementation of WSC which retrieves assembly model data based parallel Web Services is shown. And then, for the comparison, the experiments on the retrieval of assembly model data based on single Web Services and parallel Web Services are shown.

  • This paper deals with the evaluation methods for flexible automated assembly systems based on characteristics of automation and flexibility. In this study, the degrees of automation and flexibility are calculated quantitatively as the means of evaluating assembly systems. The degree of automation is grasped wheter the detailed assembly flexibility can be calculated indirectly14 by the estimation of cost and time which are caused to adapt the changed environment of the assembly system. As a case study, an assembly system is evaluated for showing the procedures of the developed method.

  • The assembly line is one of the typical process hard to analyze with mathematical methods including even stochastic approaches, because it includes many manual operations varying drastically depending on operators' skills. In this paper, we suggest the simulation optimization method to design the optimal assembly line of a gas oven. To achieve the optimal design, firstly, we modeled the real gas oven assembly line with actual data, such as assembly procedures, operation rules, and other input parameters and so on. Secondly, we build some alternatives to enhance the line performance based on business rules and other parameters. The DOE(Design Of Experiment) techniques were used for testing alternatives under various situations. Each alternatives performed optimization process with evolution strategy; one of the GA(Genetic Algorithm) techniques. As a result, we can make about 7% of throughputs up with the same time and cost. By this process, we expect the assembly line can obtain the solution compatible with their own problems.

  • Wire harness assembly is one of the most labor intensive processes in manufa- tuing, but the process has not been fully automated yet. In this paper a variety of concepts for flexible automated assembly system are suggested to design a robot- based wire harness assembly cell. All concepts are featuring an automatic, fedkng of wires, terminating routing, inserting and bundling. Based upon possible assembly methods and procedures, six alternative systems are proposed and, finally, evaluated10 from the view point of system performance such as flexibility, reliability assembly time and equipment cost.
