  • This study proposes a temporary residential prefab modular structure to provide residential space to displaced people after a disaster. Patent cases related to prefab structures are collected for related design implementations, and classified. Space in temporary residential prefab modular structures must consider factors such as "Expandability", "Assembly and Disassembly", "Built-in Structure", and "Energy Efficiency", and the cases are classified into "Detailed Assembly Modular Type", "Modular Expandable Type", and "Space Unit Expandable Type". Overseas patents cases will be collected and analyzed in future studies for providing the efficient way for mass production for the lowest production cost.

  • The title complex, $(C_3H_{12}N_2)[\{Cd(H_2O)(C_6H_5O_7)\}_2]{\cdot}6H_2O$, I, has been prepared and its structure characterized by FT-IR, EDS, elemental analysis, ICP-AES, and X-ray single crystallography. It is triclinic system, $P{\bar{1}}$ space group with a = 10.236(2), b = 11.318(2), c = $13.198(2){\AA}$, ${\alpha}=77.95(1)^{\circ}$, ${\beta}=68.10(1)^{\circ}$, ${\gamma}=78.12(1)^{\circ}$, V = $1373.5(3){\AA}^3$, Z = 2. Complex I has constituted by protonated 1,3-diaminopropane cations, citrate coordinated cadmium(II) anions, and free water molecules. The central cadmium atoms have a capped trigonal prism geometry by seven coordination with six oxygen atoms of three different citrate ligands and one water molecule. Citrate ligands are bridged to three different cadmium atoms. Each cadmium atom is linked by carboxylate and hydroxyl groups of citrate ligand to construct an one-dimensional ladder-type assembly structure. The polymeric crystal structure is stabilized by three-dimensional networks of the intermolecular O-H${\cdots}$O and N-H${\cdots}$O hydrogen-bonding interaction.

  • Flexible structures are often important components of mechanical assemblies in motion. A flexible structure sometimes must go through assembly steps that cause it to be in a pre-stressed condition when in the starting position for operation. A virtual prototype of the assembly must also bring the model of the flexible structure into the same pre-stressed condition in order to obtain accurate simulation results. This case study is presented regarding the simulation of a constant velocity joint, with a focus on the flexible boot. The case study demonstrates that careful definition of the initial conditions of the boot and flexible body contacts yields high-fidelity simulation results.

  • The welding distortion of a hull structure in the shipbuilding industry is inevitable at each assembly stage. The geometric inaccuracy caused by welding distortion tends to preclude the introduction of automation and mechanization and requires additional man-hours for adjustment work during the following assembly stage. To overcome this problem, a distortion control method should be applied. For this purpose, it is necessary to develop an accurate prediction method that can explicitly account for the influence of various factors on the welding distortion. The validity of this prediction method must also be clarified through experiments. For the purpose of reducing the weld-induced bending deflection, this paper proposes the plastic counter-deforming method (PCDM), which uses line heating as the optimum distortion control method. The validity of this method was substantiated by a number of numerical simulations and actual measurements.

  • KSTAR vacuum vessel mockup was fabricated by Korea Heavy Industries. The fabrication technology chosen for the mockup is introduced and assessed in this paper. KSTAR vacuum vessel is a huge vacuum chamber of 52 cubic meters never built in this country. Through the experiency of the KSTAR mockup fabrication, welding methods for obtaining both ultra high vacuum and structural integrity of the large vacuum chamber are extracted. The fabrication and assembly techniques for the complicated structure composed of reinforced ribs, double walls and various ports are also developed. A nondestructive test on the welding spot was performed and the results show that no major leaks violating the criterion were found. The one of the main objectives of the mockup fabrication is to measure the dimensions of the structure before and after fabrication, which plays an important role in the fabrication and the assembly. By assaying the problems occurred during mockup fabrication, the KSTAR mockup will provide the techniques for the fabrication of the main vacuum vessel.

  • In this work, the attempt has been made to investigate the morphology of self-assembled dipyridinium dithioacetate on Au(111) substrate by Scanning Tunneling Microscopy(STM). Also, we measured electrical properties(I-V) using Scanning Tunneling Spectroscopy(STS). Sample used in this experiment is dipyridinium dithioacetate, which contains thiol functional group, this structure that can be self-assembled easily to Au(111) substrate. The self-assembly procedure was used for two different concentrations, 0.5 mM/ml and 1 mM/ml. Dilute density of sample by 0.5 mM/ml, 1 mM/ml and observed dipyridinium dithioacetate's image by STM after self-assembled on Au(111) substrate. The structure of STM tip-SAMs-Au(111) substrate has been used measurement for electrical properties(I-V) using STS. The current-voltage(I-V) measurement result, observed negative differential resistance(NDR) properties.

  • Crystallization has become the most popular technique for the separation of enantiomers since the Pasteur's discovery. To investigate mechanism of crystallization of chiral molecules, it is necessary to study self-assembled structures on two-dimensional surface. Here, we have studied two-dimensional self-assembled structures of an unnatural amino acid, (S)-${\beta}$-methyl naphthalen-1-${\gamma}$-aminobutyric acid (${\gamma}^2$-1-naphthylalanine) on Au(111) surface at 150 K using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). At initial stage, we found two chiral honeycomb structures which are counter-clockwise and clockwise configurations in one domain. The molecules are arranged around molecular vacancies, dark hole. By further increasing the amounts of adsorbed ${\gamma}^2$-1-naphthylalanine, a well-ordered square packed structure was observed. In addition, we found the other structure that molecules were trapped in the pore of the hexagonal molecular assembly.

  • Disassembly scheduling is the problem of determining the ordering and disassembly schedules of used or end-of-life products while satisfying the demand of their parts or components over a certain planning horizon. This paper considers the case of the assembly product structure for the cost-based objective of minimizing the sum of purchase, setup, inventory holding, and disassembly operation costs. To represent and solve the problem optimally, this paper presents an integer programming model, which is a reversed form of the multi-level lot sizing formulation. Computational experiments on an example derived from the literature and a number of randomly generated test problems are done and the results are reported.

  • In this study, the complexity of the product was evaluated quantitatively considering the product structure, assembly process and disassembly process. To evaluate the complexity of the product, subassemblies of automobile were analyzed and then characteristics of part and subassembly were determined according to product structure, assembly process and disassembly process. Evaluation criteria of complexity were determined considering each characteristics of part and subassembly. Experiential evaluation was accomplished by classified evaluation criteria and time-motion evaluation was accomplished by the relational motion factor with characteristics of part and subassembly in MTM(Methods Time Measurement) and WF(Work Factor). The total complexity of product was determined by experiential evaluation and time-motion evaluation.
