Low Temperature Performance and Compressive Strength Characteristics of an Extruded Homogeneous SCR

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the low temperature performance and strength characteristics of V-based extruded homogeneous SCR. The extruded catalyst and the coated catalyst showed 50% and 27% of NOx conversion performance respectively at about $210^{\circ}C$ of catalyst temperature, so the extruded SCR was higher in de-NOx performance than the coated SCR especially at a low temperature zone. The compressive strength of the Enhanced Extrusion #1, in which the content of promoters such as silica, clay, glass fiber and binder was optimized, was a 120% improvement compared to the Extrusion#1 catalyst, higher than the coated SCR.

  • The hypereutectic Al-20 wt%Si powders including some amount of Cu, Fe, Mg, Mn were prepared by a gas atomization process. In order to get highly densified Al-Si bulk specimens, the as-atomized and sieved powders were extruded at $500^{\circ}C$, Microstructure and tensile properties of the extruded Al-Si alloys were investigated in this study. Relative density of the extruded samples was over 98%. Ultimate tensile strength (UTS) in stress-strain curves of the extruded powders increased after T6 heat treatments. Elongation of the samples was also increased from 1.4% to 3.2%. The fracture surfaces of the tested pieces showed a fine microstructure and the average grain size was about $1{\mu}m$.

용탕압출법에 의한 Al-Cu 합금 선재의 제조에 관한 연구 (A Study on Fabrication of Al-Cu alloy bar by Melt-extrusion Process)

  • Melt-extrusion process, a metallic melt poured and solidified up to semisolid state in the container can be directly extruded through the die exit to form a product of bar shape without other intermediate processes. In this study, the fabrication characteristics of the process were evaluated with various process parameters, such as preheating temperature of extrusion dies, extrusion temperature and extrusion ratio. AI-Cu alloys were successfully extruded after squeezing out of liquid during melt-extrusion with smaller force compared to the solid extrusion. Soundly AI-Cu alloy bar was fabricated at the preheating temperature of $500{\sim}520^{\circ}C$. The range of extrusion temperature for soundly melt-extruded AI-Cu alloy bar was increased with increasing extrusion ratio. Mechanical properties of melt-extruded AI-Cu alloy bars were found change with Cu content of the melt-extruded bars due to the occurrence of segregation. The various extrusion temperature yielded equiaxed structure with a grains size about 200 ${\mu}m$.

Deposition and Corrosion Resistance of Electrophoretic Paint Coated on AZ61 and TZ61 Magnesium Alloys

  • Electrophoretic paint (E-paint) was investigated on four different magnesium substrates: as-extruded AZ61 (AZ61), heat-treated AZ61 (AZ61-H), as-extruded TZ61 (TZ61) and heat-treated TZ61 (TZ61-H), to elucidate the effect of heat treatment and alloying elements on the deposition and corrosion resistance of E-paint. It was found that, a rapid increase of voltage, indicating that the deposition of E-paint had started, was observed after an induction time of 0.39 min for AZ61-H, 0.43 min for AZ61, 0.51 min for TZ61-H and 0.58 min for TZ61. The amount of E-paint deposited on the four samples was approximately similar, but the electrical charge used for the deposition process on the heat-treated samples was smaller than that on the as-extruded samples. The current efficiencies of E-paint on AZ samples (AZ61 and AZ61-H) were higher than those of TZ samples (TZ61 and TZ61-H), and on the heat-treated samples were higher than on as-extruded samples. All E-paintings on the four magnesium substrates had an excellent adhesion without any paint detached by tape peel-test. However, many large blisters were formed on the surface of AZ samples, and none, or very small blisters were observed on TZ samples after immersion test in DI-water for 500 h at $40^{\circ}C$. Under salt spray test (SST) conditions, E-paint on AZ samples showed blistering adjacent to scribes, while blistering of E-paint occurred on intact areas of TZ samples. The E-paint on heat-treated samples showed much better corrosion resistance than that on as-extruded samples. The ranking of greater to lesser corrosion resistance of the E-paint on these four different magnesium substrates is indicated by the order: AZ61-H > AZ61 > TZ61-H > TZ61.

압출성형 옥수수 섬유질 첨가에 따른 식빵의 품질 특성 (Quality Characteristics of Bread Supplemented with Extruded Corn Fiber)

  • 옥수수 섬유질을 이용한 고식이섬유 식빵을 제조하기 위하여 옥수수 섬유질을 수분함량 30, 40%, 배럴온도 $140^{\circ}C$, 스크루 회전속도 200 rpm으로 압출성형 처리한 후 첨가율에 따른 제빵특성을 검토하였다. 식빵의 부피는 옥수수 섬유질의 첨가비율이 증가함에 따라 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 압출성형 옥수수 섬유질 5% 첨가군에서는 수분함량 30, 40% 압출성형 옥수수 섬유질 첨가 식빵의 비체적이 각각 5.688, 5.712로 대조군 5.222(L/kg)보다 더 높게 측정되었다. 저장 기간 동안 옥수수 섬유질 첨가 식빵의 경도는 대조군과 압출성형 옥수수 섬유질첨가 식빵보다 높은 경도 값을 나타내었다. 그러나 옥수수 섬유질과 압출성형 옥수수 섬유질 5% 첨가 시 저장기간에 따라 대조군보다 낮은 결과를 보여 주었다. 관능검사 결과는 대체적으로 첨가비율이 증가할수록 선호도가 떨어졌다. 이는 첨가물의 비율이 높을수록 품질특성이 낮아지는 결과와 일치한다. 옥수수 섬유질을 압출성형하여 첨가하였을 때 전반적인 기호도는 상승하였다. 압출성형공정을 통해 옥수수 섬유질에 포함된 전분이 호화되고 섬유질의 구조가 파괴되어 비전분성 다당류인 cellulose와 hemicellulose가 식빵 품질에 영향을 주는 것으로 판단된다.

건조양파착즙박과 건조양파를 이용한 압출스낵의 물리적 특성 (Physical Properties of Extruded Snack Made of Dried Onion and Onion Pomace)

  • In order to use onion pomace produced from concentration processing of onion juice, dried onion pamace and dried onion were mixed with corn grits at levels of 10, 20, and 30% and extruded in a twin-screw extruder. The physical properties of the extruded onion snack were investigated. The expansion ratio of the extruded onion pomace snack and onion snack and onion snack decreased with onion content. The water absorption index decreased with the onion content. The lightness and the redness of the onion snack decreased and increased as the incorporation level of onion increased, respectively. Native corn grits showed crystalline peaks at 15.2$^{\circ}$, 17.3$^{\circ}$, 17.9$^{\circ}$ and 23.3$^{\circ}$. However, the onion snack did not show the crystalline peaks as native corn grits and showed small peaks at 12.9$^{\circ}$ and 19.8$^{\circ}$. The onion snack showed lower gelatinization temperature and enthalpy than raw corn grits regardless of the onion contents. The rupture strength of the onion pomace snack and onion snack increased with the onion concentration.

Al6061압출재를 이용한 온간액압성형품의 성형성 및 물성에 미치는 열처리조건의 영향 (Effect of Heat Treatment Conditions on Formability and Property of Warm Hydroformed Parts for Al 6061 Extruded Tube)

  • Effect of heat treatment conditions on formability and property of warm hydroformed parts for Al 6061 extruded tubes was investigated in this study. For the investigation, as-extruded, fully annealed and T6-treated Al 6061 seamless tubes were prepared. To evaluate the warm hydroformability, uni-axial tensile test and free bulge test were performed at various pre- and post-heat treatment conditions. And the tensile test specimens were obtained from hexagonal prototype hydroformed parts at $250^{\circ}C$. As a result, hydroformability of fully annealed tube is 25% higher than that of extruded tube. The tensile strength and strain of hydroformed part reach to 330 MPa and 12%, respectively, when the part was T6 treated after warm hydroforming. However, the hydroformability of T6 pre-treated tube is relatively low due to the decreased elongation, 8%.

Extrusion of Ginseng Root in Twin Screw Extruder: Pretreatment for Hydrolysis and Saccharification of Ginseng Extrudate

  • The objective of this experiment was to investigate the effect of extrusion of ginseng roots in twin screw extruder on susceptibility of ginseng starch toward hydrolysis by ${\alpha}-amylase$ BAN 480L (Novozyme, Denmark) and cellulase Celluclast 150L and saccharification by amyloglucosidase AMG-E (Novozyme, Denmark). The extrusion was conducted at 22% and 30% moisture contents of feed at screw speed 300 rpm. Barrel temperature at zone 1 was adjusted at $100^{\circ}C$ and $120^{\circ}C$. The results showed that extrusion process improved the ginseng ${\alpha}-amylase$ susceptibility as compared to traditionally dried ginseng (white and red ginseng). Reducing sugar of hydrolyzed extruded samples was 2,500% of its initial concentration, whereas the reducing sugar of hydrolyzed non-extruded sample was only 200% of its initial concentration. However, addition of cellulase during liquefaction lowered the saccharification yield of both non-extruded and extruded samples as well.

진공가스분무한 AZ31+1%MM합금 분말 압출재의 기계적 성질 (Mechanical Properties of Extruded Bars of Gas Atomized AZ31+1wt%MM Alloy Powders)

  • In this study, the powders of Mg-3wt%Al-1wt%Zn-1wt%MM alloy were produced under vacuum condition by the inert gas atomization and the rapidly solidified powders were consolidated by the vacuum hot extrusion. Then the structural change of powders during extrusion was investigated. The effects of misch metal addition to AZ31 on mechanical properties of extruded bars were also examined. During extrusion of the rapidly solidified powders, their dendrite structure was broken into fragments and remained as grains of 2 ${\mu}m$ size in extruded bar. The Mg-Al-Ce intermetallic compounds formed in the interdendritic regions of powders were broken finely, too. The yield stress, tensile strength and ductility obtained in as-extruded Mg-3wt%Al-1wt%Zn-1wt%MM alloy were ${\sigma}_{0.2}=325$ MPa, ${\sigma}_{T.S.}=417$ MPa and ${\varepsilon}=16.8%$. All of these improvements on mechanical properties result from the refined micostructure and second-phase dispersions.

분무성형법에 의한 Al 합금(AA2014) 대형봉상성형체 제조시 기공발생에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Creation of Porosity in Al Alloy(AA2014) Large Rod Preforms by Spray Forming)

  • In order to manufacture large rod preforms of 2014 Al alloy with a good mechanical property by spray forming method, it was spray-formed at a droplet temperature of $715^{\circ}C$, a droplet flight distance of 400mm, and a spraying angle of $35^{\circ}$. The rod preforms were extruded at $397^{\circ}C$ with the die temperature of $420^{\circ}C$ under the hot extrusion ratio 21:1 and T6 heat treatment was performed. The 2014 Al alloys cast by hot top process were also extruded and heat-treated at the same condition as a reference material. Microstructural observation and tensile test were carried out to investigate the effects of extrusion on microstructure and mechanical property of spray-formed Al alloy. Spray-formed Al alloys had many porosities due to inappropriate process conditions such as long droplet flight distance and low droplet temperature but have fine equiaxed grain. These porosities were reduced with decreasing in grain size by hot extrusion. Ultimate tensile strength and yield strength of spray formed-extruded 2014 Al alloy were inferior to those of the normal cast-extruded 2014 Al alloy, but elongations were superior. The control of porosity was important to get spray formed preform with a good mechanical property.
