Architects may evaluate building models to see how a building will shadow itself and its neighbors at various times. A heliodon, a tilt-table which is a machine that imitates the rotation and orbit of the Earth, helps architects wanting to analyze patterns of shadow patch, passive solar heating options, site solar panels, or control solar heat gain. The heliodon swivels in three directions for setting latitude, season, and time of day. Using the device, an architect first clamps a model to the tabletop, then turns the table to the coordinates of interest. Usually, the winter and summer solstices receive strong attention, for they represent extreme cases, A more recent installation at a university adds to its heliodon a set of lamps to recreate the illumination level and more accurate patterns of shadow patch. The table holds the building model at various angles to a spotlight, which mounts in the pole. The set of scale model measurement describes the validity of various electric lamps as an artificial sun to approximate the sun's parallel rays, helping designers to distinguish between illuminated areas in and around a building and those regions falling in the shadows.
This study aims to analyze the characteristics of students' understanding of artificial intelligence and mathematical concepts by developing and applying an artificial intelligence education program for mathematics convergence using robots. To this end, we analyzed the content standards of elementary artificial intelligence education to extract conceptual elements of artificial intelligence and identified mathematics achievement standards that can effectively integrate them. In particular, a five-session (15 classes in total) program was developed by selecting the units 'angle' and 'quadrilateral' suitable for utilizing the robot's movement and reorganizing the lesson to integrate the mathematics achievement standard with the artificial intelligence content elements. As a result of applying this to 22 fourth grade elementary school students over five months and analyzing the students' understanding revealed by topic of artificial intelligence content, the artificial intelligence education program for mathematics convergence using robots was helpful in students' understanding artificial intelligence principles and mathematical concepts. In addition, the use of robots was confirmed to improve students' understanding of artificial intelligence and mathematics as well as their participation in class by making them visually check a series of performing procedures.
To evaluate the oceanographic conditions for the artificial upwelling we measured vertical stratification coefficients, current speed distribution and grain size distribution of bottom sediment in the vicinity of Gukdo and Somaemuldo near Geojedo. There were a strong stratification between surface and bottom layers in summer, the stratification was weak from autumn to winter, and the water was well mixed during winter. In summer nutrient concentration of the bottom layer was 4 times higher than that of the surface layer. Underwater currents were strong in the bottom layer. We conclude that the oceanographic conditions in the area will meet the basic requirement for the construction of artificial upwelling.

Because hyperspectral imaging provides detailed spectral information across a broad range of wavelengths, it can be utilized in numerous applications, including environmental monitoring, food quality inspection, medical diagnosis, material identification, art authentication, and crime scene analysis. However, hyperspectral images often contain various types of distortions due to the environmental conditions during image acquisition, which necessitates the proper removal of these distortions through a data preprocessing process. In this study, a preprocessing method was investigated to effectively correct the distortion caused by artificial light sources used in indoor hyperspectral imaging. For this purpose, a halogen-tungsten artificial light source was installed indoors, and hyperspectral images were acquired. The acquired images were then corrected for distortion using a preprocessing that does not require complex auxiliary equipment. After the corrections were made, the results were analyzed. According to the analysis, a statistical transformation technique using mean and standard deviation with reference to a reference signal was found to be the most effective in correcting distortions caused by artificial light sources.
The purpose of this study is to develop landslide susceptibility analysis techniques using artificial neural network and to apply the newly developed techniques to the study area of Boun in Korea. Landslide locations were identified in the study area from interpretation of aerial photographs, field survey data, and a spatial database of the topography, soil type, timber cover, geology and land use. The landslide-related factors (slope, aspect, curvature, topographic type, soil texture, soil material, soil drainage, soil effective thickness, timber type, timber age, and timber diameter, timber density, geology and land use) were extracted from the spatial database. Using those factors, landslide susceptibility was analyzed by artificial neural network methods. For this, the weights of each factor were determinated in 3 cases by the backpropagation method, which is a type of artificial neural network method. Then the landslide susceptibility indexes were calculated and the susceptibility maps were made with a GIS program. The results of the landslide susceptibility maps were verified and compared using landslide location data. A GIS was used to efficiently analyze the vast amount of data, and an artificial neural network was turned out be an effective tool to maintain precision and accuracy.

Poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) tubes (5 mm in diameter) were fabricated using an electro spinning method and used as a scaffold for artificial blood vessels through the hybridization of smooth muscle cells (SMCs) and endothelial cells (ECs) differentiated from canine bone marrow under previously reported conditions. The potential clinical applications of these artificial blood vessels were investigated using a canine model. From the results, the tubular-type PLGA scaffolds for artificial blood vessels showed good mechanical strength, and the dual-layered blood vessels showed acceptable hybridization behavior with ECs and SMCs. The artificial blood vessels were implanted and substituted for an artery in an adult dog over a 3-week period. The hybridized blood vessels showed neointimal formation with good patency. However, the control vessel (unhybridized vessel) was occluded during the early stages of implantation. These results suggest a shortcut for the development of small diameter, tubular-type, nanofiber blood vessels using a biodegradable material (PLGA).

Metaverse services generate text data, data of ubiquitous computing, in real-time to analyze user emotions. Analysis of user emotions is an important task in metaverse services. This study aims to classify user sentiments using deep learning and pre-trained language models based on the transformer structure. Previous studies collected data from a single platform, whereas the current study incorporated the review data as "Metaverse" keyword from the YouTube and Google Play Store platforms for general utilization. As a result, the Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) and Robustly optimized BERT approach (RoBERTa) models using the soft voting mechanism achieved a highest accuracy of 88.57%. In addition, the area under the curve (AUC) score of the ensemble model comprising RoBERTa, BERT, and A Lite BERT (ALBERT) was 0.9458. The results demonstrate that the ensemble combined with the RoBERTa model exhibits good performance. Therefore, the RoBERTa model can be applied on platforms that provide metaverse services. The findings contribute to the advancement of natural language processing techniques in metaverse services, which are increasingly important in digital platforms and virtual environments. Overall, this study provides empirical evidence that sentiment analysis using deep learning and pre-trained language models is a promising approach to improving user experiences in metaverse services.
