Objectives : This study reviews the latest articles in Korea and other countries that studied oriental medicine treatment on poststroke depression. Methods : Korean articles were retrieved from the 9 major Korean web article search engines. Foreign articles were retrieved from PubMed. Article published date was from 2000 up to September 2012. There were no restrictions on the types of publication, but articles not available in full text were excluded. The methodological quality was assessed according to Cochrane's assessment of risk of bias and Newcastle-Ottawa quality assessment scale. Results : Twenty-two articles were included in this study. Eleven articles were published in Korea, the rest were published in China. Nine articles were randomized controlled trials (RCT), one article was a non-randomized study (NRS), four articles were case reports, three articles were cross-sectional studies, two articles were comparative studies. In RCT articles, risk of selection bias and performance bias were generally high, risk of detection bias was unclear. The NRS article took four stars in Newcastle-Ottawa quality assessment. Comparison Hamilton rating scale for depression score between oriental medicine treated group and western medicine treated group revealed that there was no remarkable difference in mean score changes after treatment on PSD. Conclusions : The results of this study suggest that oriental medicine treatment is as effective as western medicine treatment for PSD. In the future, more rigorous oriental medicine treatment studies should be conducted.
Purpose: This study is to evaluate the efficacy of non pharmacotherapy on dysmenorrhea. Methods: Survey was done through web site and directly searched dysmenorrhea -related articles in journals of Korean medicine Gynecology, published during 1996-2008. Results: 1. All articles reported non pharmacotherapies were significant efficacy in the decrease of dysmenorrhea. 2. The distribution of therapy was acupunture treatment 14 articles and the other treatments 6 articles. 3. The frequency of acupoint was Sanyinjiao(三陰交, SP6) 10 articles, Guanyuan(關元, CV4) 5 articles, Qihai(氣海, CV6) 4 articles and mainly used meridians were Immaek(任脈), Liver Meridian of Foot Gworeum(足厥陰肝經), Spleen Meridian of Foot Taeum(足太陰脾經). 4. The distribution of period for treatment were the most predominant as 7(35%) articles from one day before menstruation to the second day of menstruation. 5. The distribution of duration for treatment were the most predominant as 7(35%) articles in one day. 6. VAS was mainly used in the evaluation of dysmenorrhea and MDQ, MMSL, MVRS were used in premenstrual syndrome. Conclusion: In this study, non pharmacotherapies were effective on dysmenorrhea.
The purpose of this study was to identify the im-. age of nursing, that is, to see how nursing is viewed in newspapers. Articles about nursing from two Korean daily newspapers from Jan. 1, 1987 to Dec.31, 1991 were examined for subject, type, attitude and author-ship. The inter-rater reliability was 0.89(by The Holsti method). The major findings were as follows : 1. The total number of articles were 110. 2. As for the subjests matter, articles related to professional nursing activities appeared most frequently(29.6%) , there about labor issues and activity to promote nurses's job climate 19.4%, and about official activities of nursing 11.2%. 3. Commentary articles appeared most frequently(41.2%) , Other article forms were straight news(27. 1%), contribution(17.6%) and inter-views (10.6%). 4. Feature stories acounted for 62.4% and news articles for 37.6%. Most of the articles were of national interests(96.5%), the rest(3.5%) of news from abroad. 5. Articles favorable toward nursing accounted for 54.1%, neutral 28.2%, negative 17.6%. 6. Many articles were written by the reporters (66.3%).
Purpose: This article summarizes the trends in recent research publications in relation to post-harvest technology for drying, storage, and quality, between 2005 and 2015. Methods: As of S eptember 7, 2015, a s earch query using two keywords, drying and agriculture, on the Web of Science (Registered trademark of Thomson Reuters) resulted in 3749 articles that were published between 2005 and 2015. However, the review was restricted to research articles published in the journals Transactions of the ASABE (American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers) and Biosystems Engineering: Journal of European Agricultural Engineering. Results: The total number of articles in the two journals related to drying, storage, and quality was 500, 319, and 885, respectively. The number of articles related to drying, storage, and quality was 250, 177, and 250, respectively, in Transactions of the ASABE. The number of articles related to drying, storage, and quality was 250, 142, and 283, respectively, in Biosystems Engineering. Conclusions: A shift in research focus from drying and storage to quality in Transactions of the ASABE might reflect a shift toward quality-conscious consumers. It seems that ASABE members are more focused on articles related to post-harvest technologies on quality than their European counterparts. Articles were cited based on their abstract content. Readers should read the full articles for more details.
Background: There haven't been any papers that have analyzed the recent trends in the changing attitudes and results of Korean thoracic and cardiovascular surgeons who submit scientific papers to the major cardiothoracic journals. Material and Method: I analyzed the original articles that were published in the major cardiothoracic surgery journals from 1995 to 2008 by Korean thoracic and cardiovascular surgeons. The data was retrieved from the internet websites of Pubmed, three major international SCI (Science Citation Index) journals and the Korean Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. I then analyzed the data according to the chronological year, the subjects and the subspecialties. Result: The total number of original articles in the three international journals was 14,629. Among them, the number of articles written by Korean scientists was 157 (1.07%). A sharp increase was identified from 28 articles out of 7,674 articles (0.36%) prior to 2002, to 129 articles out of 6,955 articles (1.83%) after 2003. On the other hand, the annual number of articles in the Korean Journal was markedly decreased from 126.8 articles by 1999 to 80.0 articles after 2000. The annual number of articles in the Korean Journal was also decreased from 58.8% by 1999 to 48.3% after 2000. Conclusion: There was an observed increase in submitting articles to the international SCI journals after 2000 rather than to the Korean journal. The proportion of original articles in the Korean journal is also decreasing. I think we need to pay special attention to improve the quality and quantity of articles published in the Korean journal.

Retrieval of scholarly articles about a specific research issue is a routine job of researchers to cross-validate the evidence about the issue. Two articles that focus on a research issue should share similar terms in their core contents, including their goals, backgrounds, and conclusions. In this paper, we present a technique CCSE ($\underline{C}ore$$\underline{C}ontent$$\underline{S}imilarity$$\underline{E}stimation$) that, given an article a, recommends those articles that share similar core content terms with a. CCSE works on titles and abstracts of articles, which are publicly available. It estimates and integrates three kinds of similarity: goal similarity, background similarity, and conclusion similarity. Empirical evaluation shows that CCSE performs significantly better than several state-of-the-art techniques in recommending those biomedical articles that are judged (by domain experts) to be the ones whose core contents focus on the same research issues. CCSE works for those articles that present research background followed by main results and discussion, and hence it may be used to support the identification of the closely related evidence already published in these articles, even when only titles and abstracts of the articles are available.

This paper reviewed the temporal changes in the public opinions on nuclear energy in Korea with a big data analysis of nuclear energy-related articles and their comments posted on the portal site NAVER. All articles that included at least one of "nuclear energy," "nuclear power plant (NPP)," "nuclear power phase-out," or "anti-nuclear" in their titles or main text were extracted from those posted on NAVER in January 2010-December 2019. First, we performed annual word frequency analysis to identify what words had appeared most frequently in the articles. For that period, the most frequent words were "NPP," "nuclear energy," and "energy." In addition, "safety" has remained in the upper ranks since the Fukushima NPP accident. Then, we performed sentiment analysis of the pre-processed articles. The sentiment analysis showed that positive-tone articles have been reported more frequently than negativetone over the entire analysis period. Last, we performed sentiment analysis of the comments on the articles to examine the public's intention regarding nuclear issues. The analysis showed that the number of negative comments to articles each month-irrespective of positive or negative tone-was always larger than that of positive comments over the entire analysis period.
Objectives : The study was aimed to analyze the correlation between Herbology and contemporary research results, KCD-codes and terms. The study will present information that can be used to find the direction of further researches and be applied to the education of Herbology. Methods : Papers were searched in OASIS and PubMed. Papers were then categorized as "medicine and pharmacy articles" or "articles unrelated to medicine and pharmacy." Medicine or pharmacy articles about Gastrodiae Rhizoma were matched with treatments in Herbology and KCD-codes. Medicine and pharmacy articles which did not research Gastrodiae Rhizoma mainly and articles unrelated to medicine and pharmacy were categorized and analyzed. KCD-codes and terms were arranged by treatments in Herbology. Research types, the number of papers, and the citation count were arranged by each treatment in Herbology. Degrees of Herbology research were represented as a table and a graph. Results : There were 148 Medicine and pharmacy articles about Gastrodiae Rhizoma, 76 medicine and pharmacy articles which did not studied Gastrodiae Rhizoma mainly, and 120 articles unrelated to medicine and pharmacy. Researches on Senility and hypertensive diseases were conducted to the degree of clinical research. Numbness of the limbs scored 617, Epilepsy and convulsions scored 257.Conclusions : The study suggests that there were 148 medicine and pharmacy articles about Gastrodiae Rhizoma. Epilepsy and convulsions were the most researched treatment in Herbology. Of the medicine and pharmacy articles tha t did not match treatments in Herbology, there were clinical research articles researching on senility which can be used in the Herbology education field.

We report results of selection-bias-free approaches to the analysis of the impact of open access (OA) models on citation metrics. We studied reference groups of Gold and Green OA articles and the group of non-OA (Paywall) articles with the new functionality of the Web of Science Core Collection database, the InCites platform of Clarivate Analytics, and the Dimensions database of Digital Science. For each reference group we obtained the values of the percent of cited articles and citation impact and their dependence on the depth of the citation period. Different research fields were analyzed in two schemas of the InCites platform. We report the higher values and growth rates of the citation metrics: citation impact and %Cited, in the OA reference groups over the Paywall group. The Green OA articles demonstrate the highest values of citation metrics among all the OA models. Dependence of the value of citation impact on citation period follows linear law with R2 values close to 0.9-1.0. The overall annual growth rates of citation impact of the Green OA, Gold OA, and the Paywall articles, k equal, respectively, 3.6, 2.4, and 1.4 in Dimensions and 4.6, 3.6, and 2.3 in the Web of Science Core Collection. We suppose that earlier results reported for the articles in pure OA journals vs. articles in Paywall journals were affected by the high citation impact of the Green and Hybrid OA articles that could not be elucidated in the Paywall journals at that time.
Objectives: This study was performed to investigate the research trends of physical activities interventions such as yoga, taichi, and qigong to reduce anxiety. Methods: Korean databases were searched for articles related to survey of physical activity interventions (yoga, taichi, qigong) to reduce anxiety from 2009 to 2015. Results: Fifteen articles published in Korean journals from 2009 to 2015 were retrieved. The quality of studies were generally low and characteristics of subject were not homogeneous. Spielberger State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) was used most frequently as an assessment tool. The included publications included 9 articles on yoga, 4 articles on qigong, and 2 articles on taichi. Of these, 8 of 9 articles on yoga, 2 of 4 articles on qigong, and 2 of 2 articles on taichi reported that intervention group showed statistically significant decrease of anxiety symptoms. Conclusions: In this study, physical activity interventions such as yoga, taichi and qigong might be beneficial for reducing anxiety. However, more scientifically designed research on physical activity- based treatments are needed to prove the efficacy and effectiveness.
