  • This paper describes qualities of a library classification system that are commonly discussed in the LIS tradition and literature, and explains such a system’s three main functions, namely knowledge mapping, information retrieval, and shelf arrangement. In this vein, the paper states the functional requirements of bibliographic classifications, which broadly are subject collocation and facilitation of browsing the collection. It explains with details the components of a library classification system and their functions. The major components are schedules, notations, and index. It also states their distinguished features, such as generalia class, form divisions, book numbers, and devices for number synthesis which are not required in a knowledge classification. It illustrates with examples from the WebDewey good examples of added features of an online library classification system. It emphasizes that institutional backup and a revision machinery are essential for a classification to survive and remain relevant in the print and e-environment.

  • Russian State Historical Archive (Rossiiskii gosudarstvennyi istoricheskii arkhiv - RGIA) received its present name in June 1992, and before 1961 was known as TsGIA. RGIA holds the major records of high-level and central state and administrative institutions and agencies of tsarist Russia from the eighteenth century to 1910s (except the records of the Army, Navy, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs), as well as fonds of social organizations, institutions, and individuals of prerevolutionary Russia. The main goal of this article is to assist understanding russian principle on arrangement and classification archives with its historical development focusing on one of the biggest historical archive in Russia. The primary set of historical records in RGIA remain arranged in 3-steps classification system: fond (collection) -- opis' (inventory) -- delo (file). In this general survey of RGIA author offers detailed information on the collection of archives and the system for classification of its huge amounts of primary sources in connection with influence upon historical studies. Despite the general economic crisis Russian archives are struggling to keep their doors open for public research and are exerting their energies in present electronic information to scholars and other researchers from throughout the world. The result, however, is not rewarded enough, considering the effort involved.

  • The homogeneous key arrangement is a method of consistently arranging notes in a tile-shaped keyboard musical instrument, and arranging them in the same direction in the same direction on the neighboring keys in the same direction to enable a consistent musical arrangement. It has been used for a long time, but recently it has attracted attention by applying it to various modern musical instrument design and software instrument interface. There have been many different methods of deployment, but there are few studies on the existence of some or none of them. In this paper, we propose a classification method for such a key arrangement and analyze the relationship between them. This shows that there are far fewer types of homologous key arrangement than the known ones, and provided the basis of the study on the homogeneous key arrangement by providing a classification framework. Based on this, it is expected that more systematic analysis and research will be done and it will be used to develop various music interfaces. These studies will play a very important role in training students to understand the basic elements of pitch, harmony, harmony, and scales in music education games.

The data made use of 111 pictures constituted Gegory(a Korean jacket) and Chima(a skirt) in photographs collected in wedding magazine(Wedding 21'). The data was analyzed by frequency, contents analysis. Pattern's use or not in Hanbok and a sort, a arrangement, a way of expression of patterns using frequency Classified and characteristics of motifs were analyzed contents analysis. The results of this study were as follows. First, a sort of patterns was lots of flower motifs of the plant pattern. An arrangement of and expression of patterns used mainly a partial arrangement and embroidery expression. Second, the subjects classified using criterion of classification of a external feature, forms of expression, and simplicity/complexity of line. Third, the motifs classified into plants, an animal, geometry, abstraction, and a natural object. The plant motifs were perceived the focus of flower, a combination of a flower and a stem in the plant motifs. The subjects perceived as a simplicity/complexity of flower and a drawing line of a flower and a stem.

  • The study aims at bringing to the attentions of Korean librarians the ways and means with government publications, which had hardly been brought to the scene yet. It deals with the characteristics of archives and the nature of an archival arrangement based on 'the principle of provenance' ; the characteristics of government publications in relation to the adequacy of an archival arrangement; the three major devices in use for organizing government publications; and introduction to two sample classification systems. The study concludes with a notion that a vast reservoir of information sources(government publications) should be tapped and put to the use of researchers without delays inherent in library processing. It advocates an archival arrangement for economy and efficiency.

  • In this study, arrangement and description of documentary photographic records about photographer, Choi Min-Sik have been reviewed. Throughout the literature review, arrangement and description of photographic records are analyzed. The results show that the universal classification plan of administrative records is difficult to apply to photographic records. This study suggests the case of arrangement and description of photographic records a photographer produces continually.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the problems concerning 780 music division of DDC. The object is especially arrangement of 780 music in the 20th edition of DDC which is the complete revision. The result is summarized as follows : 1. Although music is an important subject in humanities, especially in arts, it was classified as one division (780) not class. 2. The arrangement of 780 music is severely west-oriented music theory, vocal music and instrumental music. 3. Classification number of 780 music becomes longer because of the limitation of decimal notation. 4. 780 music division of DDC neglects music theory and emphasizes music practicing, especially performance. 5. The assignment of classification number is unbalanced, especially between theory and practice, composition and performance, and among sub-sections of vocal and instrumental music. 6. Many important subject are omitted in DDC music schedule, for example, musicology and branches of musicology, composition and traditional instruments of many countries. 7. Employment of terminology is often improper and inconsistant.

  • It is well known that combining spatial and spectral information can improve land use classification from satellite imagery. High spatial resolution classification has a limitation when only using the spectral information due to the complex spatial arrangement of features and spectral heterogeneity within each class. Therefore, extracting the spatial information is one of the most important steps in high resolution satellite image classification. In this paper, we propose a new spatial feature extraction method. The extracted features are integrated with spectral bands to improve overall classification accuracy. The classification is achieved by applying a Support Vector Machines classifier. In order to evaluate the proposed feature extraction method, we applied our approach to KOMPSAT-2 data and compared the result with the other methods.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to measure empowerment and to identify factors influencing empowerment. Method: Subjects included 767 clients registered with the customized home visiting health services in Daegu. Data collection was performed from June 3 to July 30, 2011. Descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2$ test, ANOVA, and stepwise multiple regression were used in this study. Results: The mean score for total empowerment was 3.01(${\pm}0.28$). In subscales of total empowerment, the score for individual empowerment was 2.97(${\pm}0.36$), the score for interpersonal relationship empowerment was 3.09(${\pm}0.34$), and the score for political-social empowerment was 2.96(${\pm}0.48$). Job, education, economic status, living arrangement, and client classification were significant factors related to total empowerment in these clients. Job, education, economic status, types of health insurance, living arrangement, age, and client classification were significant factors related to individual empowerment, interpersonal relationship empowerment and political-social empowerment. 4.4 percent of the variance in total empowerment can be explained by education and living arrangement (Cum $R^2=0.044$, F=13.207, p<.001). Individual empowerment, interpersonal relationship empowerment, and political-social empowerment can be explained by education, job, economic status, and living arrangement. Conclusion: An empowerment intervention that includes general characteristics of clients is essential to improving empowerment of customized home visiting health care services beneficiaries.
