Hybrid of the fuzzy logic controller with the harmony search algorithm to PWR in-core fuel management optimization

  • One of the important parts of the in-core fuel management is loading pattern optimization (LPO). The loading pattern optimization as a reasonable design of the in-core fuel management can improve both economic and safe aspects of the nuclear reactor. This work proposes the hybrid of fuzzy logic controller with harmony search algorithm (HS) for loading pattern optimization in a pressurized water reactor. The music improvisation process to find a pleasing harmony is inspiring the harmony search algorithm. In this work, the adjustment of the harmony search algorithm parameters such as the bandwidth and the pitch adjustment rate are increasing performance of the proposed algorithm which is done through a fuzzy logic controller. Hence, membership functions and fuzzy rules are designed to improve the performance of the HS algorithm and achieve optimal results. The objective of the method is finding an optimum core arrangement according to safety and economic aspects such as reduction of power peaking factor (PPF) and increase of effective multiplication factor (Keff). The proposed approach effectiveness has been tried in two cases, Michalewicz's bivariate function problem and NEACRP LWR core. The results show that by using fuzzy harmony search algorithm the value of the fitness function is improved by 15.35%. Finally, with regard to the new solutions proposed in this research it could be used as a trustworthy method for other optimization issues of engineering field.

Parametric Body Model Generation for Garment Drape Simulation

  • A parametric body model generation system has been developed. Using various mathematic and geometric algorithms of this system, a three-dimensionally scanned human body can be converted into a resizable body model. Once a parametric body model is formed, its size and shape can be modified instantaneously by providing appropriate anthropometric data. To facilitate the subsequent pattern arrangement process for garment drape simulation, a bounding box generation algorithm has been developed in this study. Also the model can be converted into a set of parametric surfaces that it can also be used for three-dimensional garment pattern design system.

마이크로폰 배열로 발생되는 입력 시간차를 이용한 음원의 방향 추정 장치에 관한 연구 (A Study about Direction Estimate Device of the Sound Source using Input Time Difference by Microphones′ Arrangement)

  • Human uses level difference and time difference to get space information. Therefore this paper shows that method to presume direction of sound source by time difference and to mark presumed position. The position means direction from geometrical center of sensors to the sound source. To get the time difference of microphones input level, we will be explained about arrangement of microphones which used for the sensor to take the sound signal. It is included distance among the 3 microphones and distance between microphones and sound source. Secondly, input signals are transmitted to CPU througth digital process. CPU is used to DSP(Digital Signal Processor) for manage the signal by real time. Finally, the position of sound source is perceived by an explained algorithm in this paper.

Development of an Algorithm for the Automatic Quantity Estimation of Wall Rebar

  • In order to devise a rebar usage optimization algorithm, it is necessary to calculate the exact rebar length and revise the arrangement of rebars into special lengths. However, the process of rearranging numerous rebars and manually calculating their quantities is time-consuming and requires significant human resources. To address this challenge, it is necessary to develop an algorithm that can automatically estimate the length of rebars and calculate their quantities. This study aims to create an automatic estimation algorithm that improves work efficiency while ensuring accurate and reliable calculations of rebar quantities. The algorithm considers various factors such as concrete cover, hook length, development length, and lapping length, mandated by the building codes, to calculate the quantity of rebars for wall structures. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated by comparing the rebar quantities generated by the algorithm with manually calculated quantities, resulting in a difference rate of 1.14% for the hook case and 1.37% for the U-bar case. The implementation of this method enables fast and precise estimation of rebar quantities, adhering to relevant regulatory codes.

탐색범위 확장을 고려한 위치추정 알고리즘의 성능분석 (Performance Analysis of Location Estimation Algorithm Considering an Extension of Searching Area)

  • 본 논문에서는 2.45GHz 대역 RTLS 환경에서 탐색범위 확장을 고려한 위치추정 알고리즘을 제안하고 평균 추정오차 성능을 분석하였다. 확장 가능한 탐색범위는 $300m{\times}300m$, 2차원 평면상의 정사각형으로, 가용리더의 배치 형태는 원형 배치와 사각형 배치 그리고 탐색범위 확장을 위한 축소된 사각형 배치를 고려하였다. 또한, RTLS의 위치추정 실험 조건으로 LOS 전파환경을 가정하였으며, 수신된 sub-blink 수에 따른 가용리더의 배치 형태별로 위치추정 성능을 분석하였다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 위치추정 알고리즘을 적용하여 위치를 추정한 결과, 원형 리더 배치가 탐색범위 확장이 유리한 사각형 리더 배치에 비하여 우수한 위치추정 정확도를 보였다. 이에, 위치추정의 정확도가 우수한 원형배치와 확장이 유리한 사각형 배치의 장점을 절충하여 탐색범위 확장을 위한 축소 사각형 배치를 제안하였으며, 실험 결과, 제안한 위치추정 알고리즘이 탐색범위 확장을 고려한 축소된 사각형 리더 배치에서도 높은 위치추정 성능이 나타남을 확인하였다.

교류-교류 행렬변환기를 이용한 유도전동기의 벡터제어 구현 (Implementation of Vector control for induction motor using the AC-AC matrix converter)

  • Application of matrix converter to vector control of induction motor using simplified Venturini algorithm which is capable of achieving the maximum output voltage is developed. This algorithm simplifies the control algorithm and therefor reduces the digital implementation time. Matrix converter is used as voltage-referenced voltage fed vector controlled induction motor drive. This paper describes the performance of vector controlled induction motor with four quadrant capability employing a matrix converter power circuit. The advantage of this system over the conventional rectifier-inverter arrangement are capability for regeneration into the utility, sinusoidal supply currents and minimum passive components. The steady-state and transient performance of the induction motor drive under the vector control technique is demonstrate with simulation and experiment results.

Heavy-Weight Component First Placement Algorithm for Minimizing Assembly Time of Printed Circuit Board Component Placement Machine

  • This paper deals with the PCB assembly time minimization problem that the PAP (pick-and-placement) machine pickup the K-weighted group of N-components, loading, and place into the PCB placement location. This problem considers the rotational turret velocity according to component weight group and moving velocity of distance in two component placement locations in PCB. This paper suggest heavy-weight component group first pick-and-place strategy that the feeder sequence fit to the placement location Hamiltonean cycle sequence. This algorithm applies the quadratic assignment problem (QAP) that considers feeder sequence and location sequence, and the linear assignment problem (LAP) that considers only feeder sequence. The proposed algorithm shorten the assembly time than iATMA for QAP, and same result as iATMA that shorten the assembly time than ATMA.

  • In this paper, a parameter optimization technique for a mobile robot navigation is discussed. Authors already have proposed a navigation algorithm for mobile robots with sonar sensors using fuzzy decision making theory. Fuzzy decision making selects the optimal via-point utilizing membership values of each via-point candidate for fuzzy navigation goals. However, to make a robot successfully navigate through an unknown and cluttered environment, one needs to adjust parameters of membership function, thus changing shape of MF, for each fuzzy goal. Furthermore, the change in robot configuration, like change in sensor arrangement or sensing range, invokes another adjusting of MFs. To accomplish an intelligent way to adjust these parameters, we adopted a genetic algorithm, which does not require any formulation of the problem, thus more appropriate for robot navigation. Genetic algorithm generates the fittest parameter set through crossover and mutation operation of its string representation. The fitness of a parameter set is assigned after a simulation run according to its time of travel, accumulated heading angle change and collision. A series of simulations for several different environments is carried out to verify the proposed method. The results show the optimal parameters can be acquired with this method.

터널 갱구사면 쏘일네일링 보강배치계획을 위한 최적화기법 연구 (A study on the optimization technique for the plan of slope reinforcement arrangement of soil-nailing in tunnel portal area)

  • 국내 터널 갱구사면에 안정성을 확보하기 위한 사면보강은 앵커, 쏘일네일 및 록볼트 등을 이용한 다양한 공법이 사용되고 있다. 갱구 사면보강공법 및 보강재 배치, 보강재 길이 등을 선정하기 위해서는 시행착오법 등 시간이 많이 소요되기도 하며, 최적조건의 상태가 선정되었는지에 대한 검증이 쉽지 않은 경우도 발생한다. 본 연구에서는 FLAC3D 프로그램에 내장된 FISH 언어를 사용해서, 차분진화 알고리즘(DEA)을 적용한 최적화기법을 개발하였다. 갱구사면 보강공법 중에 쏘일네일링 공법에 대한 데이터베이스를 구축한 후, FLAC3D 해석을 통한 안전율 기반의 최적보강배치 계획을 선정할 수 있도록 하였다. 수치해석 결과, 완전조합(FC)에 비해서 DEA 기반의 최적화기법이 해석회수가 8배 정도 감소함을 확인하였다. 갱구 사면보강 설계 시 개발된 시스템을 활용하면, 최적보강배치 계획을 상대적으로 쉽게 선정할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

원근 혼합환경에서 간단한 닫힌 형식을 이용한 단일 음원 위치 추정 기법 (Simple closed-form solution for a single source estimation in mixed far-field and near-field conditions)

  • 본 논문에서는 상관함수와 최소자승 기법에 기반하여 단일 음원의 위치가 원거리 혹은 근거리 모두 가능한 경우, 이에 상관없이 닫힌 형태로 위치를 추정하는 기법을 제안한다. 최근 균일 환영 배열에서 상호상관함수를 이용하여 원거리 단일 음원의 위치를 2차원으로 추정하는 기법이 제안되었으며, 이를 확장하여 근거리 단일 음원의 위치를 3차원으로 추정하는 기법이 제안되었다. 그러나 기존 기법은 음원의 위치가 원거리, 혹은 근거리로 제한된 상황만 다루고 있다. 반면 제안 기법은 먼저 원거리 음원으로 가정하여 거리 독립적으로 방위와 고각을 구하고 이후 거리 추정에서 원거리와 근거리 음원을 구분하여 혼합 환경에 적용가능하다. 시뮬레이션에서는 두 가지 경우 모두에 대해 실험하여 제안 기법의 타당성을 검증하였다.
