Recently, there has been an increase in research on wireless sensor networks (WSNs) because they are easy to deploy in applications such as internet-of-things (IoT) and body area networks. However, WSNs have constraints in terms of power, quality-of-service (QoS), computation, and others. To overcome the power constraint issues, wireless energy harvesting has been introduced into WSNs, the application of which has been the focus of many studies. Additionally, to improve system performance in terms of achievable rate, cooperative networks are also being explored in WSNs. We present a review on current research in the area of energy harvesting in WSNs, specifically on the application of simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) in a cooperative sensor network. In addition, we discuss possible future extensions of SWIPT and cooperative networks in WSNs.

In a data centric sensor network, a sensor node to store data is determined by the measured data value of each sensor node. Therefore, if the same data occur frequently, the energy of the sensor node to store the data is exhausted quickly due to the concentration of loads. And if the sensor network is extended, the communication cost for storing data and processing queries is increased, since the length of the routing path for them is usually in the distance. However, the existing researches that generally focus on the efficient management of data storing can not solve these problems efficiently. In this paper, we propose a NUNS(Non-Uniform Network Split) method that can distribute loads of sensor nodes and decrease the communication cost caused by the sensor network extension. By dividing the sensor network into non-uniform partitions that have the minimum difference in the number of sensor nodes and the splitted area size and storing the data which is occurred in a partition at the sensor nodes within the partition, the NUNS can distribute loads of sensor nodes and decrease the communication cost efficiently. In addition, by dividing each partition into non-uniform zones that have the minimum difference in the splitted area size as many as the number of the sensor nodes in the partition and allocating each of them as the processing area of each sensor node, the NUNS can protect a specific sensor node from the load concentration and decrease the unnecessary routing cost.

On the limited urban area meteorological data are hard to be collected because of the cost problem. The facilities collecting the data require high installment cost. Recently, the sensor network technique comes to the fore as a solution. Furthermore a mobile phone also becomes to be recognized as a sensor. This paper studies an application to service the meteorological map using mobile phone sensor. A design results for system implementation are introduced in this paper.
A small temperature sensor is designed in a 0.35um CMOS process. Transistors operating in the intermediate inversion region are employed in the core of the sensor. This temperature sensor operates in $-50^{\circ}C{\sim}120^{\circ}C$ with ${\pm}2^{\circ}C$ of accuracy after two-point calibration. This temperature sensor can be placed in the active pixel area of a display panel to measure the temperature of the display panel for temperature compensation.

This Paper is for A study of sensor fusion using Radar sensor and Vision sensor in moving object detection. Radar sensor has some problems to detect object. When the sensor moves by wind or that kind of thing, it can happen to detect wrong object like building or tress. And vision sensor is very useful for all area. And it is also used so much. but there are some weakness that is influenced easily by the light of the area, shaking of the sensor device, and weather and so on. So in this paper I want to suggest to fuse these sensor to detect object. Each sensor can fill the other's weakness, so this kind of sensor fusion makes object detection much powerful.

Wireless sensor networks are used to monitor and control areas in a variety of military and civilian areas such as battlefield surveillance, intrusion detection, disaster recovery, biological detection, and environmental monitoring. Since the sensor nodes are randomly placed in the area of interest, separation of the sensor network area may occur due to environmental obstacles or a sensor may not exist in some areas. Also, in the situation where the sensor node is placed in a non-relocatable place, some node may exhaust energy or physical hole of the sensor node may cause coverage hole. Coverage holes can affect the performance of the entire sensor network, such as reducing data reliability, changing network topologies, disconnecting data links, and degrading transmission load. It is possible to solve the problem that occurs in the coverage hole by finding a coverage hole in the sensor network and further arranging a new sensor node in the detected coverage hole. The existing coverage hole detection technique is based on the location of the sensor node, but it is inefficient to mount the GPS on the sensor node having limited resources, and performing other location information processing causes a lot of message transmission overhead. In this paper, we propose an Adjacent Matrix-based Hole Coverage Discovery(AMHCD) scheme based on connectivity of neighboring nodes. The method searches for whether the connectivity of the neighboring nodes constitutes a closed shape based on the adjacent matrix, and determines whether the node is an internal node or a boundary node. Therefore, the message overhead for the location information strokes does not occur and can be applied irrespective of the position information error.
This paper presents a study on the Internet of Things based low-power wireless sensor networks for remote monitoring of wildlife ecosystem due to climate change. Especially, it is targeting the wild vegetation communities ecological monitoring. First, we performed a pre-test and analysis for selecting the appropriate frequency for the sensor network to collect and deliver information reliably in harsh propagation environment of the forest area, and selected for sensors for monitoring wild vegetation communities on the basis of considerations for selecting the best sensor. In addition, we have presented the platform concept and hierarchical function structures for effectively monitoring, analyzing and predicting of ecosystem changes, to apply the Internet of Things in the ecological monitoring area. Based on this, this paper presents the system architecture and design of the Internet of Things based low-power wireless sensor networks for monitoring the ecosystem of the wild vegetation communities. Finally, we constructed and operated the test-bed applied to real wild trees, using the developed prototype based on the design.
A new application area in which wireless sensor networks are applied requires the performance of more elaborated and complicated task and the completion of those tasks within a time limit. Until now, it is, however, insufficient to do research on the mechanism of handling interrupt based on real-time sensor operating systems which carefully consider the limitation of resources of sensor nodes and the property of tasks which is executed in a wireless sensor network area. In this paper, the requirements satisfying real-time in sensor operating systems are analyzed and based on this, a system is designed and implemented. In addition, the proposed mechanisms are confirmed by several verification methods, and the efficiency of the performance and the satisfaction of those requirements for real-time are verified by simulation.
One of the fundamental problems in wireless sensor networks is the efficient deployment of sensor nodes. The Fuzzy C-Means(FCM) clustering algorithm is proposed to determine the optimum location and minimum number of sensor nodes for the specific application space. We performed a simulation and a experiment using two rectangular and one L shape area. We found the minimum number of sensor nodes for the complete coverage of modeled area, and discovered the optimum location of each nodes. The real deploy experiment using sensor nodes shows the 94.6%, 92.2% and 95.7% error free communication rate respectively.

From the Beckmann's reflection model of wave incident, reflected light from a surface is known to have not only specular but also diffuse components. The specular component dominant a surface for a mirror-like surface is distributed on the almost the same area as the spot on the surface, but the diffuse component region dominant f3r a rough surface spreads scattered on the larger areas than the spot. Therefore, statistic parameters from the scattered light distribution are more meaningful in the diffuse region, while the magnitude of rather meaning in the specular region. In usual, there need two sensors to acquire two kinds of information: Photo-detector for light intensity magnitude and image sensor for light intensity distribution. But dual sensor scheme requires a beam splitter usually to feed light to each sensor, and moreover there is not a combination rule to relieve the different sensor characteristics. In this study a new method is proposed for acquisition of the dual information using only an image sensor. Specular region is established on an image area being distinguished from a diffuse component, and laser power is adjusted so that no pixel of the image sensor in the specular region is saturated. Simulation based on the light reflection theory and the experimental results are quite well matched, and thus the proposed method was proved to be very useful for mirror-like surface measurement.
