Recently, the cases of archiving for digital contents are being increased throughout the world. Owing to the characteristics of digital contents including the issues on volatile property and authenticity, preservation weakness, and aging in the reproductive tool, it requires special management for long-term preservation. A successful digital archiving seems to be possible in the stage-oriented practice through the cooperation of interested organizations based on the systematically established and stipulated policy. This is the basic study that was designed for the establishment of the policy on digital contents archiving in KISTI(Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information), which is a representative organization for the distribution of science and technology information. By investigating and analyzing the cases of overseas policies on digital contents archiving, it intended to understand the framework of digital archiving policy while suggesting measures on the macroscopic items that were included in the archiving policies through the interview conducted to expert groups.

The sinking of the Sewol ferry has not only induced an intense conflict in Korean society but also been developed into a sociopolitical issue. This paper divides this accident into five stages and examines the records produced at each stage. The Sewolho Citizen Archive Network and the Ansan Citizen Record Committee began the archiving of Sewol and created the 416 Archives. The records of Sewol are social and political records that hold envidencial and historical value. They can be used to rebuild and recover the wounded community as well as to investigate the truth behind the case. Accident archiving collects materials different to the ones which public archiving does, allowing people to view the incident from a different standpoint. It is also characterized as an archiving of the current issue, social movement and regional community. Accident archiving is a method which ensures credibility and impartiality in memory. In light of Sewol archives, accident archiving can contribute to form mature democracy.

This study purposed to measure the economic value of repository services of the National Open Access Platform (AccessON), namely Self Archiving and Journal Repository. The value of Self Archiving was measured by applying time-saving value and the value of Journal Repositories by applying market analogy. Based on existing statistics, in-depth interviews with service beneficiaries and stakeholders, and a survey administered to 1,313 researchers, the value of Self Archiving was estimated to be 145 million won and an additional 12 million won with the OA legalization. The value of Journal Repositories was estimated to be 31.2 billion won. The total value of the repository services was 31.35 billion won over the 8-year business period. This result presented an estimated economic value of a national OA repository from the key beneficiaries' perspectives.

This study aims to present a model of digital archiving based on E-ARK. It analyzed the international standards and technological specifications designed for digital archiving. The analysis employed in study explored the common specifications including core processes, information packages, and metadata structure needed for digital archiving. Based on the analysis and reviews, this study developed a model for digital archiving, in order to achieve interoperability of information packages throughout the process.

한국과학기술정보원(KISTI) 바이오인포매틱스센터(CCBB)에서는 생명과학 관련 주제별 Open Archiving Community의 구성과 운영을 통한 연구자들 간의 정보교환을 유도하고, 더불어 논문뿐만 아니라 세미나, 연구노트 등의 최신의 연구 정보를 공유할 수 있도록 생명과학 Open Archiving Community 시스템을 구축하여 운영하려고 한다. 본 community에서 수집, 구축, 서비스할 점보의 종류는 아티클, 학위논문 연구보고서, 발표자료, 연구노트, 실험데이터, 전자자료 등이다. 그러므로, 전 세계적으로 많이 활용되고 있는 Dublin-core, Marc21, MODS를 비교 분석하여 MODS 메타데이터를 기준으로 아티클과 같은 문헌정보 뿐만 아니라 실험결과, 연구노트 등의 비문헌정보도 유연성 있게 적용할 수 있는 생명과학 관련 주제별 Open Archiving Community를 위한 메타데이터 스키마를 설계하였다.

The environment of using digital devices has been developed day by day, as mobile communication network has been fast and smart phone and tablet PC have been spread. When the environment changing, the contents consumers prefer have been changing too. The Webtoon became the representative contents of 'Snack culture'. The webtoon has led the growth of cartoon market for years recently instead of the slow comics growth. And it places its elf as contents on a firm basis, as it has been adapted to another genre such as Pay, Flm, TV Drama. Now it's expected to be an extgeneration contents that will lead Han-ryu(Korean wave). Though the webtoon has important and strong presence, there is no digital archive for collecting and preserving the webtoon, Korean Cartoon Contents Agency started making 'webtoon archive', but the groundwork and the study on the webtoon that represents digital culture contents are not enough a lot. In this study, the cases on digital archiving of culture contents in Korea are researched, and the direction on webtoon archiving that has just started is also discussed. The Archiving of webtoon that can't be seperated from digital contents is connected with archiving of digital culture contents in direction where they should be headed to.

The purpose of this study is to suggest the directions for building national digital archiving strategies. This present paper begins with surveying S&T information resources especially in public sector, and analyse the priority criteria for appraising and selecting the resources for long-term preservation. Emphasis is placed on identifying the critical tasks for each type of resources including scientific data, technical reports, theses, journal, web, e-prints, etc. and some levels of organizations in the national digital archiving framework. Based on the analysis, it suggests some strategic agenda for developing national digital archiving system.

The construction of preservation metadata is a prerequisite for the preservation of digital information. In the current approaches to digital archiving, however, there is no metadata structure optimized to describe preserved digital objects. This research proposed metadata packages that can support the description of digital objects from the perspective of the core processes of digital archiving. The proposed metadata packages consist of 4 wrapper elements and 25 sub-elements. They can provide detailed descriptions required to preserve digital objects in accordance with the core processes of digital archiving. Therefore, the proposed metadata package can be applied to digital archiving as a better approach to the description of digital objects compared to the approaches to information package.

There are no way of collection, preservation and utilization for web resources after the service is terminated and is gone. However, these Web resources, regardless of the importance of periodically or aperiodically updated or have been destroyed. Therefore, to collect and preserve Web resources Web archive is being emphasized. Web resources collected periodically in order to develop Web archiving crawlers only was required. In this study, from the collection of Web resources to be used for archiving existing web crawlers to analyze the strengths and weaknesses. We have developed web archiving systems for the best collection of web resources.

The historical, social, and cultural value of Internet resources is indisputable, therefore many national institutions have created Web archiving projects to hand down this heritage to future generations. The selection guidelines are the most crucial aspect of these projects because they aid in differentiating which resources are worth collecting and preserving from the large number of web resources available. The purpose of this study was to suggest improvements for the OASIS Selection Guidelines by analyzing the selection guidelines of other domestic and international Web archiving projects. First, based on the results of Web archiving projects abroad, we proposed improvements for the definition of Web data and other terms, the basic principles of the collection, collection methods, and collection cycle. Second, we proposed substantial improvements in the target resources for archiving, and also stated what kind of web resources must be excluded from Web archiving. Finally, we discussed the relationship between data collection methods and the legal deposit of online resources, the necessity of constructing a database for selected target materials, and the necessity of cooperative archiving policies.
