This paper presents the natural frequency of a composite girder with corrugated steel web (CGCSW). A corrugated steel web has negligible in-plane axial stiffness, due to the unique characteristic of corrugated steel webs, which is called the accordion effect. Thus, the corrugated steel web only resists shear force. Further, the shear buckling resistance and out-of-plane stiffness of the web can be enhanced by using a corrugated steel web, since the inclined panels serve as transverse stiffeners. To take these advantages, the corrugated steel web has been used as an alternative to the conventional pre-stressed concrete girder. However, studies about the dynamic characteristics, such as the natural frequency of a CGCSW, have not been sufficiently reported, and it is expected that the natural frequency of a CGCSW is different from that of a composite girder with flat web due to the unique characteristic of the corrugated steel web. In this study, the natural frequency of a CGCSW was investigated through a series of experimental studies and finite element analysis. An experimental study was conducted to evaluate the natural frequency of CGCSW, and the results were compared with those from finite element analysis for verification purpose. A parametric study was then performed to investigate the effect of the geometric characteristics of the corrugated steel web on the natural frequency of the CGCSW. Finally, a simplified beam model to predict the natural frequency of a CGCSW was suggested.
The concepts of laws like regularity or persistence or recurrence those are discovered in nature, became the essential elements in speculative philosophy, study and scientific technology. Western civilization was spread out by these natural laws. As this background, this study is aimed to research the theories of natural laws and the development of geometry as the descriptive tools and the development aspects of the concepts of space. According to Whitehead's four theories on the natural laws, the result of this study that aimed like that as follows. First, the theories on the immanence and imposition of the natural laws were the predominant ideas from ancient Greek to before the scientific revolution, the theory on the simple description like the positivism made the Newton-Cartesian mechanism and an absolutist world view. The theory on the conventional interpretation made the organicism and relativism world view according to non-Euclidean geometry. Second, the geometrical composition of ancient Greek architecture was an aesthetics that represented the immanence of natural laws. Third, in the basic symbol of medieval times, the numeral symbol was the frame of thought and was an important principal of architecture. Fourth, during the Renaissance, architecture was regarded as mathematics that made the order of universe to visible things and the geometry was regarded as an important architectural principal. Fifth, according to the non-Euclidean geometry, it was possible to present the natural phenomena and the universe. Sixth, topology made to lapse the division of traditional floor, wall and ceiling in contemporary architecture and made to build the continuous space. Seventy, the new nature was explained by fractal concepts not by Euclidean shapes, fractal presented that the essence of nature had not mechanical and linear characteristic but organic and non-linear characteristic.
The aim of this study is to analyze the planar composition of rectangular formation houses in 8 areas, both cities and counties, in the sphere of Andong and to reveal the characteristics of these houses in each region. This study of the rectangular formation of houses and their characteristics will facilitate an understanding of the general trends of housing in Andong cultural area.. In this study, the subject houses are composed of three parts: Bonchae, Anchae, and Sarangchae, and the author classified the planar types of the houses. The differences in the regional planar types were analyzed through visual and statistical methods. The analyzed results reveal the regional characteristics of the rectangular formation houses in terms of their planar aspects in the Andong region. The distribution showed the greatest preference toward one type out of two types of distribution of Bonchae, Anchae, and Sarangchae. The ratio for the higher distribution was approximately 70%, whereas the ratio for the lower distribution was around 20%. For convenience, the type with a higher distribution rate is referred to as the "major type," and the type with a lower distribution rate is termed the "minor type." The complete-type houses (73%) in Bonchae were a major type there, and the symmetric-type houses (73%) in Anchae were the major type in that location. In addition, the corner-type houses (72%) in Sarangchae were the major type. In the regional distribution of major types and minor types in the 8 regional cities and counties, regional differences were noted. The three regional groups can be divided into A, B, and C according to the distribution ratio. Andong, Bonghwa, and Yecheon belong to region A. that shows a variety of distribution types and a dispersive trend. Yeongyang and Yeongdeok belong to region C that shows a simplified trend.Yeongju and Cheongsong belong to region B.
This article is about restoring the wooden pagoda which located in Silsangsa Temple after historical research. The process of this study, first of all, the theoretical study was considered about similar examples of wooden pagoda and gilt-bronze pagoda in Gorye period and wooden pagoda in contemporary period. After that, the study was established by the present condition of Silsangsa wooden pagoda site, the characteristic of Silsangsa wooden pagoda, the form of arrangement, the scale and height. Finally, considering those studies, the wooden pagoda designed in detail. This restoring design tried to follow the inference in that time. Moreover, the design tried to involve the elements of characteristic of region and Silsangsa wooden pagoda. Therefore, the research establish period of Silsangsa wooden pagoda in Gorye period. Locally, it considered both elements of Silla and Baeckje. The arrange form of restoring wooden pagoda was freestyle arrangement that had two main building of a temple and one middle pagoda. The idea of structure was to establish of double Core system. This system inferred from the system of building structure in ancient wooden pagoda and middle and modern age of multistory wooden construction. According to measurement of foundation stone, the scale of restoring wooden pagoda followed the skill of Tang-scale. The connection structure of each floor followed laminated structure which was the general form of log frame in that time. After study of foundation's condition, the present writer deseeded to have restoring the wooden pagoda 9 stories tall. The final aim was to depend on the structural intuition of the present writer, the writer tried to restore beautiful wooden pagoda according to in those days which is solution for contradiction of unclear point. So, it could be make out a plane of restoring wooden pagoda.
Architectural evidence of Gaya is insignificant than any other area. In this situation, house-shaped earthenware is particularly helpful in the study of Gaya architecture. However, house-shaped earthenware is not a building, it has just the shape of buildings. So, we have to find out architectural evidence from that. In this paper, I tried to estimate the architectural characteristics of Gaya through house-shaped earthenware in detail. I also consulted historical records, archeological results, and other scholars' papers. The results are as follows. First, house-shaped earthenware can be classified into three types according to its shape, and each type has distinct architectural structural characteristics. Second, house-shaped earthenware generally has a gambrel roof, and the characteristic of architectural design with the gable side of the gambrel roof as a front is the biggest feature of Gaya architecture. Third, various types of buildings existed according to their functions in Gaya architecture, and house-shaped earthenware was showed buildings of ancient storage, pens, and residences, which are symbols of the richness among various types of buildings.

In this study, the reverberation time of apartment living room was measured and distribution of the reverberation time was analyzed. In addition, sound field characteristics of mock-up test room similar with living room and timber structured bedroom was investigated with addition of furniture and sound absorption material. Average reverberation time of unfurnished apartment unit was 1.11 s, and reverberation time in 630 Hz~2000 Hz bands were longer than 1.2 s. It was found that from the field measurement results, reverberation time characteristic of furnished apartment living room was uniform in most of frequency bands. Averaged reverberation time of furnished living room was 0.48 s and the reverberation time of bedroom was 0.44 s. Standardized sound pressure level correction values were calculated from the average reverberation time of furnished and unfurnished apartment units. The correction value of unfurnished living room was −3.4 dB and that of furnished living room was 0.2 dB. Measured reverberation time of furnished and unfurnished apartment units indicated that reference reverberation time; 0.5 s, in KS and ISO standards is reasonable also in Korean residential environment.
This study examines the transitional situation that can be seen from the palace operation in early Joseon Dynasty. The first decades of Joseon after the nation was founded differ from the Joseon Dynasty as a whole, but rather similar with the Goryeo Dynasty. By examining "The History of Goryeo(高麗史)," it showed that palace operation during the Goryeo Dynasy was marked by the fact that a separate palace was built and resided in despite the existence of the Bongweol(本闕, main palace) as the central palace. The separation of the parent's generation and the children's generation was shown through the establishment of one's own palace. Such trait of Goryeo affected palace construction directly after the founding of Joseon. This can be shown from the characteristic of palace operation by generation. The construction of the Changdeokgung Palace(昌德宮) of King Taejong, as his own palace, is an example. Afterwards, the palace system of Joseon was established, and the space of the king and the crown prince was merged through ritual reform during the reign of King Sejong. However, the space for the parents of the king were considered separate, and this influence continued to the reign of King Seongjong. The construction of Changgyeonggung Palace(昌慶宮) during the reign of King Seongjong is an event where the king proclaimed the separation with his mother and grandmother.

The BIPV system must be designed to reflect the architectural and electrical characteristics simultaneously because it replaces the role of the exterior material of the building, which makes it difficult to design the BIPV. The thin film type BIPV module has an electrical characteristic that the open voltage is higher and the short circuit current is lower than that of the crystalline type BIPV module. However, there are many differences in the design of the array, the collector distribution board, and the inverter in the system configuration since the crystal type BIPV module has the opposite feature. In this study, a crystalline BIPV module and a thinfilm BIPV module were applied to actual buildings. As a result, the elements to be considered in designing BIPV system were derived, and the architectural and electrical characteristics were mutually analyzed.

Since luxurious apartments have appeared in Korean common housing, there have been a series of stages in reflecting the demands of residents. However, lifestyles have been restricted to a typified pattern because housing was provided extensively during a short period. The ensuring of residency in common housing lies in seeking how to utilize a given space to the maximum. In the presence of residents, the characteristic of today's housing is not merely satisfied with residents, but provokes the function of a new supplier. Residents are changing by situation (economic, social, cultural, and family types), yet housing is falling short of the change. In particular, it is necessary to closely observe the change in housing by time and space in accordance with both psychological and physical changes of family members. Therefore, this study aims to furnish an opportunity to prepare the foundation of alternatives, which may cope with the future in housing design and furniture design through the latest cases at home and abroad as well as a theoretical background of issues concerning a variable system, which will suit the demands of residents.
