In the present field study, the number of woody flora of Mt. Songni were summarized as 44 families, 89 generas, 140 species, 10 varities and 2 forms. Also, the flora among inland areas such as Mt. Paektu, Mt. Sorak, Mt. Songni, and Mt. Chiri, and insular areas, such as Oyoujong Island. Tokjok Archipelago, Kok-unsan Archipelago and Cheju Island, were compared, respectively, in order to interpret the characteristics of distribution patterns of the flora of this area. The flora of Mt. Songni were characterized as similar to the flora of Mt. Sorak, and also with that of Mt. Chiri. It was interpreted both the northern types of plants such as Aceraceae, Araliaceae, Fagaceae, Tiliaceae and Ulmaceae and the southern types of plants such as Celastraceae, Convolvulaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Rhamnaceae, Solanaceae, Crassulaceae and Urticaceae were fluxed considerably into this region.

Koolhaas' perspective on urbanism differs from the modern urbanism and typological urbanism. The Melun-Senart masterplan, La $D{\acute{e}}fense$ masterplan shows unique characteristic different from that of conventional urbanism. The roots of this creative approach can be found in the traits of his research with O.M. Ungers back in the 1970s. Koolhaas and Ungers have collaborated intimately from 1972 to 1977 to work on urban projects. This collaboration reaches its cilmax in their project City in the City, where many of Koolhaas' core concepts such as archipelago, void/solid, plurality, infrastructure, congestion, and social condenser are introduced. This thesis will explore the development of these concepts in their collaboration and shed new light on how this period has made a transition into Koolhaas' perspective on urbanism and architecture as well as his works. The purpose of this study is to investigate these core concepts of Koolhaas in City in the City, and to find the development and the meaning of these concepts in his projects.

The Gogunsan Archipelago is composed of two island groups; the first group includes Mal-do, Myeong-do, Gwangdae-do, and Bangchuk-do islands consisting of Neoproterozoic rocks, and the second group includes Yami-do, Sinsi-do, Muneo-do, Jangja-do, and Seonyu-do islands consisting of Cretaceous rocks. The first group mainly consists of the Bangchuk formation which can be divided into two layers; the lower layer was more deformed than the upper layer. The former was intruded by mafic and felsic volcanic rocks formed in the volcanic arc tectonic setting 930-890 Ma and the latter was deposited ca. 825-800 Ma. In these islands, large scale folds with east-west fold axes were beautifully formed; the Maldo island fold was designated as natural monument and large scale beautiful chevron fold was developed on the Gwangdae-do island. In addition, there are unique zebra-shaped outcrop formed by a mixing of basic and acidic magma and Independent Gate shaped outcrop formed by coastal erosion. On the other hand, the Yami-do, Sinsi-do, Muneo-do, Jangja-do and Seonyu-do islands consist of 92-91Ma Cretaceous volcanic rocks and, in Sinsi-do island, the Nanshan formation deposited ca. 92 Ma. These Cretaceous volcanic rocks formed by melting of the continental crust by the heat supplied from the uplifting mantle due to the extension caused by a retreat of subducting ocean slab. Yami-do and Sinsi-do islands are composed of rhyolite. In Yami-do island, bands with vertical joint formed by cooling of the bottom part of the lava, are shown. In Sinsi-do island, large-scale vertical joints formed by cooling of lava flow, were developed. The Jangja-bong of Jangja-do island and Mangju-bong of Seonyu-do island are composed of brecciated rhyolite and formed a ring shaped archipelago contributing to the development of marine culture by providing natural harbor condition. They also provide beautiful views including 'Seonyu 8 views' along with other islands. As mentioned above, the Gogunsan archipelago is rich in geoheritages and associated cultural and historical resources, making it worth as a National Geopark.
Cell number of Vibrio spp. was examined for the surface and bottom sea water harvested from the 9 stations in the Jeonam Archipelago Marine Ranching Ground in 2006~2007. Species population composition and dominant species were analyzed as well. The largest number of Vibrio spp. was detected in summer (June, 2007) among the 4 seasons with the surface and bottom sea water samples of 5.4~93.2 cfu㎖-1 and 1.0~53.1 cfu㎖-1. respectively. In winter (January, 2007), Vibrio spp. was not detected at all except that one station from which 0.2 cfu㎖-1 of Vibrio spp. was counted in the surface sea water sample. Cell numbers were 0~11.9 cfu㎖-1 and 0~8.3 cfu㎖-1, respectively, in the surface and bottom sea water samples retrieved in spring (April, 2007), and the corresponding sea water samples in autumn(November, 2006) were contaminated with 0.1~21.4 cfu㎖-1 and 0~2.9 cfu㎖-1, respectively. Species population composition of Vibrio spp. was found to be V. parahaemolyticus, V. alginolyticus and V. cholerae non-01 among which V. parahaemolyticus and V. alginolyticus were dominant in all seasons. V. alginolyticus was detected from all stations even in the winter season indicating that this species seems to be less temperature dependent than the other Vibrio spp..
The flora and vegetation of Jindo Archipelago were investigated from 1985 to 1989. In the area, 1089 species, 3 subspecies, 133 varieties, and 22 forma of vascular plants were recovered. From the data, the ecological characteristics such a value 1.39 in Pte-Q and Ch-$D_1-R_3$-e in biological type were recognized. Vegetation of the area is classified into 8 communities: Pinus thunbergii-, Quercus serrata-, Q. variabilis-, Carpinus coreana-, Prunus sargentii-, Camellia japonica-, Castanopsis cuspidata var. sieboldii and Q. acuta-community. The actual vegetation map was conducted with the materials obtained by the investigation of the vegetation in 103 area.
The island of S.Miguel is part of the Azores, an archipelago composed of nine volcanic islands situated between the european and american continents. Aligned in a general WNW -ESE trend, between latitudes 37$^{\circ}$ -40$^{\circ}$ N and longitude 25$^{\circ}$ -31$^{\circ}$ W, the Azores islands show a very special geotectonic setting, at the triple junction of the Eurasian, African and North American lithospheric plates.(omitted)
Large plumes of yellow send or yellow dust blow out over the Sea of Japan and the Japanese archipelago from mainland of China. In this study, the methodology to capture the perspective on the large Yellow dust storm by using MODIS data is discussed. As the typical image of yellow send, MODIS data obtained of April 8, 2002 were used in this study.
We investigated leaf disease intensity of Kalopanax septemlobus (prickly castor oil tree) caused by the parasitic fungus Mycosphaerella acanthopanacis, in thirty natural host populations in the Japanese Archipelago. The disease intensity observed for individual trees were analyzed using a generalized additive model as a function of tree size, tree density, climatic terms and spatial trend surface. Individual tree size and conspecific tree density were shown to have significant negative and positive effects on disease intensity, respectively. The findings suggest that the probability of disease infection is partly determined by dispersal of infection agents (ascospores) from the fallen leaves on the ground, which can be enhanced by aggregation of host trees in a forest stand. Regional-scale spatial bias was also present in disease intensity; the populations in northern Japan and southern Kyushu were more severely infected by the fungus than those in southwestern Honshu and Shikoku. Regional variation of disease intensity was explained by both climatic factors and a trend surface term, with a latitudinal cline detected, which increases towards the north. Further research should be conducted in order to understand all of the factors generating the latitudinal cline detected in this study.

A Gravity characteristic of Svalbard archipelago in Arctic was studied by using ArcGP data. There are situated the Dasan science station. After bouguer correction, an edge effect of free-air anomaly, which is similar to topography, are not shown at passive continent margin, and after terrain correction with GTOPO30 data, gravity anomaly increases from continent to marine. that is deep connected with rise of Moho discontinuity. The correlation of topography and free-air anomaly shows that the isostasy of continent attains a little less than marine. After filtering, the residual anomaly are shown high and low anomalies related to fracture zone in continent and base depression or thick sedimentary layer in continental slope, marine.
The new innovation model that deals with agenda as sustainability, quality of life, societal challenges is emerging as NIS(National Innovation System) is needed to transit to post catch-up and creativity. To achieve this objective, there is a growing need for enhancing usage of ICT, end-user's needs, prolification of R&D results and social impact. Living Lab is the new innovation model that end-user's participation, co-work/network within actors and usage of user's experience and This study deal with Living Lab related R&D of ICT-based service from co-work with end-users. Example cases are Turku Archipelago Living Lab in Finland, and Living Lab projects in EU, EIT ICT Labs and ELLIOT. And the focus of case analysis is that reflection of user's needs and experience, and aspect of ICT usage.
