  • Utility boiler operators seeking to gain the greatest economic advantage from their units are faced with three challenges, namely the obligatory light-up fuel costs, the additional expense of supplementary fuel firing should they wish to use a cheaper fuel that may be beyond the original burner manufacturer’s stability and combustion performance assurances and the immediate environmental impact of both. The novel use of plasma arc technology can provide a solution to these challenges. This paper introduces the work being undertaken through a joint collaboration between the EU, Kazahkstan and Russia in order to develop a tried and tested engineering methodology and a mathematical based application and sensitivity analysis approach for the design and optimisation stage of these plasma devices that, as a consequence, their assist in their universal introduction.

  • The primary objective of this paper is to grasp many characteristics of buckling behavior of latticed spherical domes under various conditions. The Arc-Length Method proposed by E.Riks is used for the computation and evaluation of geometrically nonlinear fundamental equilibrium paths and bifurcation points. And the direction of the path after the bifurcation point is decided by means of Hosono's concept. Three different nonlinear stiffness matrices of the Slope-Deflection Method are derived for the system with rigid nodes and results of the numerical analysis are examined in regard in geometrical parameters such as slenderness ratio, half-open angle, boundary conditions, and various loading types. But in case of analytical model 2 (rigid node), the post-buckling path could not be surveyed because of Newton-Raphson iteration process being diversed on the critical point since many eigenvalues become zero simultaneously.

  • Recently, the buckling is easy to happen a thin plate and High Tensile Steel is used at the steel structure and marine structure so that it is wide. Especially, the post-buckling is becoming important design criteria in the ship structure to use especially the High Tensile Steel. Consequently, it is important that we grasp the conduct post-buckling behaviour accurately at the stability of the ship structure or marine structure. In this study, examined closely about conduct and snap-through behaviour after initial buckling of thin plate structure which apply compressive load according to various kinds initial deflection shape under all edges simply supported condition that make by buckling formula in each payment in advance rule to place which is representative construction of hull. Analysis method is F.E.M in used ANSYS program and complicated nonlinear behaviour to analyze such as secondary buckling with snap-through behaviour. Nonlinear buckling control is applied between newton-raphson method and arc-length method in this study

  • 현재 산업현장에서 활용하는 용접용 로봇은 대부분 오프라인(off-line)으로 작업을 수행하고 있어 생산성과 용접 품질 향상에 그 기능을 충분하게 발휘하지 못하는 실정이다. 현재에는 용접 품질 향상을 위하여 용접 매카니즘이 많이 연구되어 많은 수학적인 해석과 물리적인 해석방법을 도입하여 비선형적인 용접 메카니즘을 연구하고 있다. 이러한 여러 가지 비선형적인 문제와 해석상의 어려움에도 불구하고 용접의 결함을 보완하기 위해 보다 정확한 용접데이터를 생성하기 위하여 고감도의 센서를 도입하여 신호처리 하고 있으며, 이를 이용하여 용접시스템에 포함시키는 피드백제어시스템(feed-back control system)을 구성하여 용접선 추적 및 용접 비드(bead) 형상제어에 응용하고 있다. 또한, 최근에는 인공지능제어기술이 발달되어 인간의 학습능력과 의사결정능력을 대신하는 신경회로망(neural network)과 퍼지이론(fuzzy logic)을 도입하여 용접기술을 개발하고 발전시키고 있다. 본 연구에서는 신경회로망이론을 이용하여 실시간으로 용접시스템을 모니터링하고 퍼지제어기에 의하여 용접결함을 보정하는 지능시스템을 개발방법을 제시하고자 한다.

경험론적 방법을 이용한 암반사면재해 취약성 분석 (Susceptibility Analysis for Rock Slope Hazard Using the Empirical Method)

  • 본 연구에서는 부산광역시 중심부에 위치한 황령산의 암반사면 재해 취약성 정도를 평가하기 위하여 산사태 재해위험지도를 작성하였다. 황령산은 동래단층 및 일광단층 사이에 위치하며 퇴적암, 안산암질 화산암류, 안산암, 반려암 및 화강암질암으로 이루어져 있다. 기존 연구에서의 절리자료, 암반강도 등의 데이터베이스와 야외조사를 통해 얻어진 자료를 대상으로 ArcGIS를 이용한 요소별 주제도를 작성하였다. 또한 국립재난안전연구원의 점검표를 활용한 경험론적 방법으로 황령산 일대의 암반사면재해 취약성을 나타내었다. 연구결과 황령산 일대의 암반사면은 매우 안정-안정 영역에 해당하는 것으로 확인되나 과거 산사태 발생지와 인접지역은 중간정도의 안정성을 나타내고 있다.

  • 아크용해로와 진공유도로를 사용하여 니켈-수소 전지의 음극용으로 주목받고 있는 AB2 타입의 ZrV /sub x/Mn/sub 1-x/Ni/sub 1.0/, ZrV/sub x/Mn/sub 0.8-x/Ni/sub 1.2/, ZrV/sub x/Mn/sub 0.6-x/Ni/sub 1.4/합금을 용해하였다. 이들 합금은 용해한 상태에서 C14과 C15의 혼합상을 갖는 것으로 나타났으며 합금조성 및 열처리에 따라 혼합상분율이 크게 변화하였다. 이들의 결정상 및 상분율은 합금원소들의 평균원자반경비(r/sub A//r/sub B)에 따라 결정되는 것으로 밝혀졌으며 특히 열처리한 합금의 경우에는 평균원자반경비가 1.254일때를 경계로 하여 두 상의 명확간 안정구역이 설정되었다. 가압한 분위기에서 아크용해한 경우 합금성분의 손실은 미미하였으나 진공유도로를 사용하여 용해한 경우 Mn이 다량 휘발감소하여 조성이 크게 변화하였다.

Mid-Term Performance of Clinical LINAC in Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy

  • Background: The mid-term performance of clinical linear accelerator (LINAC) during volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) treatment period is not performed in clinical practice and usually replaced with one-time plan quality assurance (QA). In this research we aim to monitor daily reproducibility of VMAT delivery from tracking individual leaf movement error and dosimetric error to evaluate the mid-term quality of the machine used. Materials and Methods: First, multileaf collimator (MLC) information was imported into MATLAB program to determine which of the MLC leaves in the leaf bank had the maximum RMS position error (maxRMS). We estimated where the maximum positional errors (maxPE) of the chosen leaf occur along its path length and tracked its daily variations over the entire treatment period. Secondly, picture information of dosimetric error from portal dosimetry was imported into MATLAB where representative high gamma index region (HGR) was determined as HGR with length of > 1 cm and their centers were daily tracked. Results and Discussion: The maxPEs in the brain and tongue cases were distributed broader than in other cases, but all data were found located within ${\pm}0.5mm$. From first day to last day all of five cases show the similar visual pattern of HGRs and Centers of the longest HGRs remained within ${\pm}1mm$ of that in first day. These findings prove excellent mid-term performance of the LINAC used in VMAT treatments over a full course of treatment. Conclusion: Tracking the daily location changes of leaf movement and dosimetric error can be a good indicator of predicting the daily quality like stability and reproducibility of beam delivering in VMAT treatment.

Tubular Web Reduced Beam Section (TW-RBS) connection, a numerical and experimental study and result comparison

  • A kind of accordion-web RBS connection, "Tubular Web RBS (TW-RBS)" connection is proposed in this research. TW-RBS is made by replacing a part of web with a tube at the desirable location of the beam plastic hinge. This paper presents first a numerical study under cyclic load using ABAQUS finite element software. A test specimen is used for calibration and comparison of numerical results. Obtained results indicated that TW-RBS would reduce contribution of the beam web to the whole moment strength and creates a ductile fuse far from components of the beam-to-column connection. Besides, TW-RBS connection can increase story drift capacity up to 9% in the case of shallow beams which is much more than those stipulated by the current seismic codes. Furthermore, the tubular web like corrugated sheet can improve both the out-of-plane stiffness of the beam longitudinal axis and the flange stability condition due to the smaller width to thickness ratio of the beam flange in the plastic hinge region. Thus, the tubular web in the plastic hinge region improves lateral-torsional buckling stability of the beam as just local buckling of the beam flange at the center of the reduced section was observed during the tests. Also change of direction of strain in arc shape of the tubular web section is smaller than the accordion webs with sharp corners therefore the tubular web provides a better condition in terms of low-cycle fatigue than other accordion web with sharp corners.

재활치료를 위한 능동형 기립-보행 보조기구 설계 방법 (Design Method of Active Standing-to-Walking Assistive Device for Rehabilitation Therapy)

  • Rehabilitation assistive devices not only assist the rehabilitation therapy and daily life of the disabled and the elderly, but also assist the labor of their caregivers, so various functions are required to improve their quality of life. In this study, a design method considering its practicality is introduced for an active rehabilitation assistive device that can perform both standing and walking assistance by driving various actuators. For this purpose, the force required to assist standing was calculated using statics with the body segmentation method. Also, the overturning stability of the device was verified for various physical conditions and postures. The actuator in the active rehabilitation assistive device was operated by a patient using a graphical user interface in an embedded computer and a touch panel for easy usage. The detailed design was performed for implementation through the help of 3D-CAD and the finite element analysis, and a prototype was produced. Finally, it was proven that the design goal was satisfied by experimental validation.

산업부산물을 사용한 EMP차폐 콘크리트 개발에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Development of EMP Shielded Concrete Using Industrial By-products)

  • 본 연구에서는 EMP차폐 건축구조물 구축시 구조체 자체로써 EMP차폐성능을 발현하는 콘크리트를 개발하기 위한 기초적인 자료를 제시하고자 도전성이 우수하고 조달이 쉬운 금속계열 산업부산물을 EMP차폐용 콘크리트 골재로 사용하기 위해 골재의 안정성 평가 및 EMP차폐 성능평가를 실시하였다. 안정성 평가결과 굵은골재 안정성기준에 만족하였으나 잔골재 안정성 기준에의 경우 전기로산화슬래그는 만족하지 못하였다. 또한 콘크리트의 물성평가 결과 유동성은 증가하는 것으로 나타났으며 공기량이 감소되는 것으로 사료되며. 압축강도는 산업부산물 골재의 높은 밀도와 거친 입형을 가지기 때문에 시멘트 페이스트와 부착력이 증가하여 강도 또한 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. EMP차폐 실험결과 차폐성능이 높은 산업부산물 골재는 전기로산화슬래그와 동제련슬래그 이며 골재의 평균입경이 작거나 균일하게 분포되면 차폐성능은 증가할 것으로 사료된다.
