액체 추진 로켓의 최적 연료 바이어스 산정 및 추진제 잔류량 분석 (Optimal Selection of Fuel Bias and Propellant Residual Analysis of a Liquid Rocket)

  • 본 논문에서는 액체 엔진의 혼합비 오차와 추진제 탑재 오차가 성능에 미치는 영향에 대해서 분석하였다. 75톤급 엔진 4개를 클러스터링하는 발사체 모델에 대해 이런 오차에 의해 발생하는 추진제 잔류량을 확률적인 Monte-Carlo 방법을 사용하여 계산하고 잔류량을 최소화할 수 있는 최적 연료 바이어스를 도출하였다. 다른 발사체에 사용된 근사식을 사용한 해석적인 방법과 비교함으로써 얻어진 결과의 타당성을 검토하였다.

The Removal of Trembling Artifacts for FORMOSAT-2

  • Since the successful launch of FORMOSAT -2 satellite by National Space Organization of Taiwan in May 2004, the Remote Sensing Instrument (RSI) on- board the FORMOSAT -2 has continuously acquired images at one panchromatic and four multi-spectral bands (http://www.nspo.org.tw). In general, the RSI performs well and receives high quality images which proved to be very useful for various applications. However, some RSI panchromatic products exhibit obvious trembling artifact that must be removed. Preliminary study reveals that the trembling artifact is caused by the instability of the spacecraft attitude. Though the magnitude of this artifact is actually less than half of a pixel, it affects the applicability of panchromatic products. A procedure removing this artifact is therefore needed for providing image products of consistent quality. Due to the nature of trembling artifact, it is impossible to describe the trembling amount by employing an analytic model. Relied only on image itself, an algorithm determining trembling amount and removing accordingly the trembling artifact is proposed. The algorithm consists of 3 stages. First, a cross-correlation based scheme is used to measure the relative shift between adjacent scan lines. Follows, the trembling amount is estimated from the measured value. For this purpose, the Fourier transform is utilized to characterize random shifts in frequency domain. An adaptive estimation method is then applied to deduce the approximate trembling amount. In the subsequent stage, image re-sampling operation is applied to restore the trembling-free product. Experimental results show that by applying the proposed algorithm, the unpleasant trembling artifact is no longer evident.

OPTIMUM STORAGE REALLOCATION AND GATE OPERATION IN MULTIPURPOSE RESERVOIRS

  • This research is intended to integrate long-term operation rules and real time operation policy for conservation & flood control in a reservoir. The familiar Yield model has been modified and used to provide long-term rule curves. The model employs linear programming technique under given physical conditions, i.e., total capacity, dead storage, spillways, outlet capacity and their respective elevations to find required and desired minimum storage fur different demands. To investigate the system behavior resulting from the above-mentioned operating policy, i.e., the rule curves, the simulation model was used. Results of the simulation model show that the results of the optimization model are indeed valid. After confirmation of the above mentioned rule curves by the simulation models, gate operation procedure was merged with the long term operation rules to determine the optimum reservoir operating policy. In the gate operation procedure, operating policy in downstream flood plain, i.e., determination of damaging and non-damaging discharges in flood plain, peak floods, which could be routed by reservoir, are determined. Also outflow hydrograph and variations of water surface levels for two known hydrographs are determined. To examine efficiency of the above-mentioned models and their ability in determining the optimum operation policy, Esteghlal reservoir in Iran was analyzed as a case study. A numerical model fur the solution of two-dimensional dam break problems using fractional step method is developed on unstructured grid. The model is based on second-order Weighted Averaged Flux(WAF) scheme with HLLC approximate Riemann solver. To control the nonphysical oscillations associated with second-order accuracy, TVD scheme with SUPERBEE limiter is used. The developed model is verified by comparing the computational solutions with analytic solutions in idealized test cases. Very good agreements have been achieved in the verifications.

다차원 비분리계의 균일준고전적 해법 (Multidimetional Uniform Semiclassical (WKB) Solutions for Nonseparable Problems)

  • 본 논문에서는 비분리계의 균일준고전(WKB)해를 close coupling formalism을 쓰지 않고 구하였으며, 여러가지 물리적으로 흥미있고 현실적인 경우들에, 구해진 해들이 잘 알려져 있는 해석 함수들로서 주어졌다. 전환점이나 전환면이 구해진 해들의 특이점이 되지 않으며, 그들의 점근형을 취했을 때, 그 해들은 보통의 WKB해들로 복귀된다. 그러한 균일해들을 얻기 위해서는 비분리계의 Schroedinger 방정식들을 변형하여 풀 수 있는 형으로 적절히 "재규격화"하였다. Ehrenfest의 단열 원리가 그러한 "재규격화"된 균일해들을 도출하는데 중요한 역할을 한다. 적절한 고전적 궤적들이 얻어지면 Hamiltonian의 고유치들은 확장된 Bohr-Sommerfeld 양자화 규칙으로 계산된다. 다전자계에 대한 응용이 시사되었고, 현 방법의 유용성을 보여주기 위한 가장 간단한 예의 하나로서 helium 원자의 바닥상태의 파동함수를 근사적으로 계산하였다.

3차원 불균질 횡등방성 매질에 대한 탄성파 초동 주시 모델링 (Seismic First Arrival Time Computation in 3D Inhomogeneous Tilted Transversely Isotropic Media)

  • 한국의 지질 환경은 암석 분포가 매우 다양하고 복잡한 구조 활동의 영향을 받아 지하매질의 이방성 특성이 국부적으로 심하게 변화한다. 기존의 이방성 주시 모델링의 경우 지질 모델을 2차원으로 단순화시킴으로써 이러한 복잡한 지질 환경을 제대로 고려할 수 없었다. 또한 약 이방성 가정을 사용하여 실제로 나타날 수 있는 지하 매질의 심각한 이방성 영향을 주시 모델링에서 고려할 수 없었다. 이에 이 연구에서는 보다 실제적이고 복잡한 3차원 횡등방성 매질(transversely isotropic media)에서 q-P파의 초동 주시 양상을 모사할 수 있는 주시 모델링 알고리듬을 개발하였다. 이 알고리듬에서는 2차원 비선형 주시 내삽(2D nonlinear traveltime interpolation) 기법과 주시의 3차원 격자 채움법(mapping)을 이용한 직접 전파법(direct calculation)을 통해 급격한 물성의 변화에도 주시 계산이 가능하도록 하였다. 또한, 최소 주시 계산과정에서 수치 미분을 통한 최대 경사법(steepest descent method)을 사용하여 약 이방성 가정을 극복하였다. 개발된 알고리듬은 해석해와 비교하여 그 타당성을 검증하였고 3차원 2층구조에 대한 주시 계산을 수행하여 물성이 급격히 변화하는 모델에 대해서도 안정적으로 주시 계산이 이루어짐을 확인하였다. 이 연구에서 개발한 3차원 주시 모델링 알고리듬은 향후 구조보정이나 토모그래피 알고리듬 개발에 사용될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

A Study on the Air Foil Journal Bearing Analysis with Perturbed Rarefaction Coefficients

  • Knudsen number is the ratio of molecular mean free path versus mm thickness and the criterion to determine the flow form. When its value is lower than 0.01, the flow can be assumed to has no slip boundary condition. And in the case that the value is between 0.01 and 10, then the flow has slip boundary condition at both the adjacent walls. The condition of the air flow between the rotating journal and top foil in the air foil bearing is determined by the rotating speed and load, and the Knudsen number is also varied by those values. Because the molecular mean free path is variable to the pressure and temperature, more exact formulation is necessary to understand and analyze the flow regime. In this study, the analysis considering Knudsen number formulated with those variables (pressure, temperature and mm thickness) was executed. The approximate value was examined using the equation to confirm whether the flow has the slip or no-slip boundary condition. From the analytic investigation, it was decided to range approximately 0.01 to 1.0 and the flow can be supposed to have the slip boundary condition. Under the condition of the slip flow, the static characteristics of the air foil bearing were examined using modified Reynolds equations. The results were compared with those considering no slip condition. It shows that the slip condition makes the flow decelerates and the load carrying capacity decreases compared with no slip condition. And as the bearing number and eccentricity ratio increase, the load carrying capacity also increased at both the cases. From this result, it can be supposed that the bearing torque also increases. In the analysis of the dynamic characteristics, the perturbed Knudsen number was taken into consideration. Because the Knudsen number is expressed as the terms of each variable, the perturbed equation can be simply derived. The results of both cases considering and not considering Knudsen number were compared each other. In the case of the direct terms of the stiffness and damping coefficients, the difference between both cases was little and increased as the bearing number and eccentricity ratio increased. And the cross terms have less or more differences.
