Development of mechanistic cladding rupture model for severe accident analysis and application in PHEBUS FPT3 experiment

  • Cladding ballooning and rupture are the important phenomena at the early stage of a severe accident. Most severe accident analysis codes determine the cladding rupture based on simple parameter models. In this paper, a FRTMB module was developed using the thermal-mechanical model to analyze the fuel mechanical behavior. The purpose is to judge the cladding rupture with the severe accident analysis code. The FRTMB module was integrated into the self-developed severe accident analysis code ISAA to simulate the PHEBUS FPT3 experiment. The predicted rupture time and temperature of the cladding were basically consistent with the measured values, which verified the correctness and effectiveness of the FRTMB module. The results showed that the rising of gas pressure in the fuel rod and high temperature led to cladding ballooning. Consequently, the cladding hoop strain exceeded the strain limit, and the cladding burst. The developed FRTMB module can be applied not only to rod-type fuel, but also to plate-type fuel and other types of reactor fuel rods. Moreover, the FRTMB module can improve the channel blockage model of ISAA code and make contributions to analyzing the effect of clad ballooning on transient and subsequent parts of core degradation.

  • This study examined the applicability of the transtheoretical model(TTM) to understanding exercise behavior of early adulthood. A cross-sectional study was conducted and data wee collected from 1618 adults aged from 20 to 39 through internet survey. Major conclusions wee as follows: 1. Stage distribution for exercise behavior was 15.6%, 26%, 25%, 19%, 14.4% for precentemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, maintenance stages, respectively. 2. Behavioral processes were more frequently utilized than cognitive processes for action and maintenance stage. 3. Self-reevaluation, social liberation and reinforcement were frequently used in precontemplation, contemplation and preparation stages. Self-reevaluation, reinforcement, self-liberation were frequently used in action and maintenance stages. 4. Pros of exercise behavior began to be higher than cons of exercise behavior from the actions stage and continued to increase to maintenance stage. 5. Self-efficacy was higher in action stage than precontemplation, contemplation and preparation stages and the highest in maintenance stage.

  • This study is to measure the creep coefficient by 3 days, 7 days and 28 days in the age when loading for the quality assessment of $350kgf/cm^2$ in the high-strength concrete. And it is to analyze the behavior of creep coefficient by applying the experimental data though the compressive strength test, the elastic modulus test and the dry shrinkage test to the ACI-209, AASHTO-94 and CEB/FIP-90, the prediction mode, and the basis of concrete structural design. Also it is to analyze the behavior of short-term creep coefficient during 91 days in the age when loading through the experiment by using the regression analysis, the statistical theory. As applying it to the long-term behavior during 365 days and comparing with the creep prediction mode and examining it, the result from the analysis of the quality of the concrete is as follows. As the result of comparison and analysis about the ACI-209, AASHTO-94 and CEB/FIP-90, the prediction mode, and the basis of concrete structural design, the normal Portland cement class 1 shows the approximate value with the prediction of GEE/PIP-90 and the basis of concrete structural design, but in case of the prediction of ACI-209 and AASHTO-94, there would be worry of underestimation in the application.

Development and User Satisfaction of a Mobile Phone Application for Image-based Dietary Assessment (카메라가 장착된 모바일 폰을 이용한 24시간 식사 회상 앱 개발 및 만족도 연구)

  • Objectives: The objective of this study was to develop mobile phone application for image-based dietary assessment and evaluate satisfaction regarding respondent's use of the mobile phone application. Methods: We developed a mobile phone application to assess dietary intakes using 24 hour dietary recall. After initial development, application was reviewed by ten adults and revised based on their comments. We recruited 192 volunteers (92 males, 100 females) to use the mobile phone application and to respond to a satisfaction survey. Participants were instructed to use the mobile phone application with fiducial marker five centimeter in width, length and two centimeter height at each eating occasion during designated 4 days, capturing $45^{\circ}$ angle and $90^{\circ}$ angle images of all food and beverage items before and after consumption. After using the mobile phone application for 4 days, participants were asked to complete an online questionnaire on the satisfaction of the mobile phone app. User satisfaction items composed of 12 questions of application user interface, 8 questions of emotional response, 9 questions of eating behavior in 5 likert scale. Participants were also asked to provide additional open-ended comments on the use of mobile phone application. Statistical analysis was performed by using the SPSS 23.0 (Statistical Package for the Social Science). Results: The average user interface score was $2.82{\pm}1.08$, which was close to the 'normal' response. Responses for emotion and eating behavior also were borderline to the 'normal'. Conclusions: This study found that the mobile phone application using 24-hour recall was acceptable to be used to assess dietary intakes for several days. However, there should be a need for such technology to be user-oriented instead of researcher-oriented. Easy and cost-effective new technology is needed for estimating the amounts of food eaten automatically when the photos are taken.

Retirement Preparing Behavior Analysis of Pastors with Application of Theory of Planned Behavior (계획된 행동이론을 적용한 목회자의 은퇴준비 행동분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the effects on all factors from the research design by pastors. Research model is based on the theory of planned behavior. To this end, data were collected from 214 pastors and they were analyzed. In order to derived the results of a study, we used the statistical processing technique SPSS, to perform verification of factor analysis and reliability of each variable, AMOS analysis was performed for hypothesis testing. The results are as follows. First, this study demonstrated that there is a positive relationship between subjective norms and intention, perceived behavior control and intention of retirement preparing. Second, this study demonstrated that there is a positive relationship between intention and behavior, perceived behavior control and behavior of retirement preparing. Third, intention had a partial mediation effect between perceived behavior control and behavior of retirement preparing. As a result of this research, comprehensive implications were suggested for improving of retirement preparing by pastor.

A Preliminary Study for the Application of Cognitive Function Scale(ACFS) in Korean Setting (인지기능응용척도의 타당화를 위한 기초 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the feasibility and validity of the Application of Cognitive Function Scale as developed by Lidz and Jepsen (1997). Data were collected from 4 to 5-years-old children. The analysis for item adequacy indicated that the passing rate increases according to age. Futhermore the analysis for test adequacy indicated that internal consistency reliability was .85 in the pre-test and .80 of post-test in terms of the cognitive function scale, and .90 of pre-test and .93 in the post-test in relation to the behavior observation scale. In conclusion, our analysis of the ACFS shows sufficiently high scores in terms of both validity and reliability, so as to indicate that this test is an appropriate way to measure the cognitive function and non-intellective function of young Korean children.

  • This research investigates the application of novel functionally graded small-scale materials (FGSMs) in sport and sports structures through an engineering design lens. Functionally graded materials (FGMs) offer tailored material properties, promising enhanced performance and durability. Utilizing an interdisciplinary approach, this study explores the integration of FGSMs in sports equipment and infrastructure. Design considerations specific to sports engineering are emphasized, including lightweight, high-strength materials capable of withstanding dynamic loads. Advanced manufacturing techniques, such as additive manufacturing and nanotechnology, enable precise control over material composition and microstructure. Computational modeling is employed to evaluate the mechanical behavior and performance characteristics of FGSM-based components. Through case studies and comparative analyses, the study showcases the potential of FGSMs to revolutionize sports equipment and structures, offering improved performance, safety, and sustainability. This research contributes to the advancement of sports engineering by exploring the design and application of FGSMs in sport and sports structures.

  • This paper proposes an automatic video monitoring system and its application to emergency detection by analyzing human behavior using neural network. The object area is identified by subtracting the statistically constructed background image from the input image. The identified object area then is transformed to the feature vector. Neural network has been adapted for analyzing the human behavior using the feature vector, and is designed to classify the behavior in rather simple numerical calculation. The system proposed in this paper is able to classify the three human behavior: stand, faint, and squat. Experiment results shows that the proposed algorithm is very efficient and useful in detecting the emergency situation.

  • Most cracks in the structure occur under mixed mode loading and those fatigue crack propagation behavior heavily depends on the stress ratio. So, it is necessary to study the fatigue behavior under mixed mode loading as the stress ratio changes. In this paper, the fatigue crack propagation behavior was respectively investigated at stress ratio 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7 and we changed the loading application angle into 0$^{\circ}$, 30$^{\circ}$, 60$^{\circ}$ to apply various loading mode. The mode I and II stress intensity factor of CTS specimen used in this study was calculated by the displacement extrapolation method using FEM (ABAQUS). Using both the experiment and FEM analysis, we have concluded the relationship between crack propagation rate and stress intensity factor range at each loading mode due to the variation of stress ratio. Also, when the crack propagated under given stress ratio and loading mode condition, we have concluded the dominant factors of the crack propagation rate at each case.

Mechatronic Analysis for Feeding a Structure of a Machine Tool Using Multi-body Dynamics (다물체 동역학을 활용한 공작기계 구조물 이송을 위한 메카트로닉 해석)

  • In this study, a rigid multi-body dynamic model has been developed for mechatronic analysis to evaluate dynamic behavior of a machine tool. The development environment was the commercialized analysis tool, ADAMS, for rigid multi-body dynamic analysis. A simplified servo control logic was implemented in the tool using its functions in order to negate any external tool of control definition. The advantage of the internal implementation includes convenience of the analysis process by saving time and efforts. Application of this development to a machine tool helps to evaluate its dynamic behavior against feeding its component, to calculate the motor torque, and to optimize parameters of the control logic.
