Thirteen taxi drivers as the subject in the experiment were exposed to vertical vibration which is controlled on a rigid seat reflecting vibration on passenger vehicle. They were employed not only to get human response of objective measurement but also to make subjective evaluation of the vibration. The subjective evaluation was estimated using the absolute discomfort threshold of the controlled vibration, which was achieved with the three-down one-up method that is widely used in the field of psychophysics. As the result, apparent mass and apparent eccentric mass as objective human response tend to gradually decrease when frequency of the vibration increases. The absolute discomfort threshold was increased in case of increasing the frequency. Concludingly, the subjective discomfort evaluation is highly correlated with the objective human responses at the range of idle vibration on passenger vehicle.
Cytosine deaminase (cytosine aminohydrolase, EC 3.5.4.1) stoichiometrically catalyzes the hydrolytic deamination of cytosine and 5-fluorocytosine to uracil and 5-fluorouracil, respectively. The intracellular cytosine deaminase from Chromobacterium violaceum YK 391 was purified to apparent homogeneity with 272.9-fold purification with an overall yield of $13.8\%$. The enzyme consisted of dimeric polypeptides of 63 kDa, and the total molecular mass was calculated to be approximately 126 kDa. Besides cytosine, the enzyme deaminated 5-fluorocytosine, cytidine, 6-azacytosine, and 5-methylcytosine, but not 5-azacytosine. Optimum pH and temperature for the enzyme reaction were 7.5 and $30^{\circ}C$, respectively. The enzyme was stable at pH 6.0 to 8.0, and at 30T for a week. About $70\%$ of the enzyme activity was retained at $60^{\circ}C$ for 5 min. The apparent $K_{m}$ values for cytosine, 5-fluorocytosine, and 5-methylcytosine were calculated to be 0.38 mM, 0.87 mM, and 2.32 mM, respectively. The enzyme activity was strongly inhibited by 1 mM $Hg^{2+},\;Zn^{2+},\;Cu^{2+},\;Pb^{2+},\;and\;Fe^{3+}$, and by o-phenanthroline, $\alpha,\;{\alpha}'$-dipyridyl, p-choromercuribenzoate, N-bromosuccinimide, and cWoramineT. In addition, the enzyme activity was strongly inhibited by I mM 2-thiouracil, and weakly inhibited by 2-thiocytosine, or 5-azacytosine. Finally, intracellular and extracellular cytosine deaminases from Chromobacterium violaceum YK 391 were found to have a different optimum temperature, apparent $K_{m}$ value, and molecular mass.
We examine the effect of environment on star formation activity of a sample of a galaxy group catalogue constructed from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey(SDSS DR8) given in Tempel et al.(2012). As an environmental parameter, we use the richness of the galaxy group. According to this parameter, we select 6846 galaxies in dense environment and 297335 galaxies in low environment. By comparing the two samples, we identify the different relationship between star formation rate and stellar mass. In order to compare galaxies in different environment, we fixed other parameters(color, apparent magnitude), which can affect star formation efficiency except for stellar mass. Also, based on HI mass from the ALFALFA survey, we study the environmental dependence of Kennicutt-Schmidt law which show the correlation between star formation rate and gas content.
A gene, ClCDA, encoding chitin deacetylase from Colletotrichum lindemuthianum, was optimized according to the codon usage bias of Pichia pastoris and synthesized in vitro by overlap extension PCR. It was secretorily expressed in P. pastoris GS115 using the constitutive expression vector pHMB905A. The expression level reached the highest with 110 mg/l culture supernatant after 72 h of methanol induction, which comprised 77.27 U/mg chitin deacetylase activity. SDS-PAGE, mass spectrometry, and deglycosylation assays demonstrated that partial recombinant protein was glycosylated with an apparent molecular mass of 33 kDa. The amino acid sequences of recombinant proteins were confirmed by mass spectrometry.

The present investigation has attemped to optimize hydrogen reduction process for the mass production of Fe-8wt%Ni nanoalloy powder from ball milled $Fe_2O_3-NiO$ powder. In-situ hygrometry study was performed to monitor the reduction behavior in real time through measurement of water vapor outflowing rate. It was found that the reduction process can be optimized by taking into account the apparent influence of water vapor trap in the reactor on reduction kinetics which strongly depends on gas flow rate, reactor volume and reduction.
Chylous mesenteric cyst is a rare variant of mesenteric cystic lesions. Pathologically there is lack of communication of the main lymphatic vessels, resulting in cystic mass formation. Clinical presentation is diverse and can range from an incidentally apparent abdominal mass to symptoms of an acute abdomen. A 5-year-old girl presented with abdominal distension without pain. CT scan showed a huge and thin-walled cystic mass without solid portion. Laparotomy showed a $20{\times}18cm$ sized huge mesenteric cyst containing chylous fluid. Pathological diagnosis was cystic lymphangioma.

The action of rainwater on reinforced concrete walls has led to an erosion phenomenon. The erosion is very apparent when the walls are inclined. This phenomenon is studied on a real site characterized by different architectural forms. The site dates back to the seventies; it was designed by the architect, modeler of concrete, Oscar Nie Meyer. On this site, the erosion has damaged the cover of the reinforcements and reduced its depth. In this research work, a method of quantification of the erosion is developed. Using this method, the amount of mass loss by erosion was measured on imprints taken from the site. The results are expressed by the rate of mass loss by erosion; they are associated to the height and the inclination of the walls. Moreover, laboratory analysis was carried out on samples taken from the site. From this study, it is recommended to consider the erosion, in any building code, to determine the cover thickness.
Studies of the effectiveness of anthraquinone (AQ) in kraft-AQ pulping in terms of its mechanism of mass transfer have been conducted. Experiments performed have demonstrated an 'apparent solubility' of AQ in caustic solutions of wood lignin. The adsorption behavior of AQ species was also analyzed. Anthraquinone-2-sulfonic acid (AQ-S), a water-soluble derivative of AQ, showed selective adsorption on wood. A mechanism for the transport of AQ into wood chips during kraft pulping are proposed, and some explanations for previously unexplained observations are addressed.
1,4-Benzoquinone reductase was purified to electrophoretic homogeneity from bovine liver, and the purified enzyme found to have a molecular mass of 29 kDa, as determined by sodium dodecyl sulfate- polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis The enzyme exhibited pH optimum between 8.0 and 8.5. The apparent fm for 1,4-benzoqulnone was 1.643 mM, and the apparent Km for NADH was 1.837 mM. Various divalent cations, such as Hg$\^$2+/, Cu$\^$2+/, and Zn$\^$2+/, exhibited strong inhibitory effects. The enzyme activity was also strongly inhibited by quercetin, dicumarol, and benzoic acid. Incubation of the enzyme with N-bromosuccinimide and pyridoxal 5’-phosphate led to inhibitions of 100% and 99%, respectively. Accordingly, these results suggest that trypto-phan and Iysine residues are Involved at or near the active sites of the enzyme.
The one of the most important factors we shoud consider in designing the processes using porous media such as activated carbon adsorber is the prediction of the breakthrough curve. In this study, the breakthrough curve of BAC process for the treatment of refractory pollutants was evaluated by simplified engineering analysis. Through the experiments, the slope of the breakthrough curve can be determined by retardation factor, R and apparent dispersion coefficient, $D_{app}$ which is determined by hydrodynamic dispersion, mass transfer effects and isotherm. Estimated concentration of effluent was agreed with the experimental values. Also, it is possible to use this method for predicting the breakthrough curve of the pollutants removal and tranport of pollutants in porous media.
