소비자(消費者)의 여성정장(女性正裝) 브랜드 선호(選好)와 기성복(旣成服) 치수(値數)의 맞음새 (Consumer's Apparel Brand Preference and Fit of Ready-to-wear for Women)

  • This study was initiated to study suitability of the apparel sizing systems that utilized in women's ready-to-wear market. To achieve this, the researchers surveyed 383 women from the ages of 18 through 59. The result of this study are followed. 1) The targeted age of the apparel brand does not always correspond with the purchaser's age. The subjects tend to prefer the brands targeting younger women than their age. The women who prefer the brand targeting younger women than their age were less satisfied with the jacket size available in Korean apparel market. They also took into consideration their body size. 2) The subjects who prefer the brands aimed for younger women were dissatisfied with fit at waist and hips. 3) The result of this study also shows that the more sizes are needed for short and tall women. The subjects pointed out that hips of the pants gave worst fit. 4) KS standard size designation system which listed body measurements bust-hips stature was not well known to the consumers.

20대 남성의 의류 치수 체계 개발 (Development of Appeal Sizing System of Males in Their Twenties)

  • The purpose of this study is to characterize body types of males in their twenties, and to provide information on body types of males by classifying them into groups. In addition, this study attempts to provide ways that can help improve the fit and coverage rate of ready-to-wear clothes by developing an apparel sizing system according to body types. 297 male subjects in their twenties participated in this study. 54 anthropometric and 35 photographic measurements were taken from each subject. After combining the body types of the front and the side into a whole body, we selected typical body types out of the combinations. It is shown that 84.64% of males in their twenties belong to the HI type, H/equation omitted/ type, X/equation omitted/ type, Xl type, Yl type, and HS type. To develop a new size system of clothes, the distribution of sizes was determined by using means and standard deviations for basic parts of each body type. Then, the most optimal sizes were selected separately for each body type to maximize the coverage rate.

  • This study is to investigate the KS size recognition and mother's preference of female children's apparel. The practical research is performed for 150 mothers lived in Seoul and are randomly selected to their age, female children's number, education and income level. For statistical analysis and evaluation of survey data, frequency and percentage use contingency table. Findings in this study as follow: 1. Mother's preference for purchasing the girl's garments shows the significant differences of their subject characteristics such as age, girl's number, education and income level. 2. Mother's recognition about KSK 9403: 2004 sizing system for girl's garments does not show the significant differences of their subject properties. Most mothers only know the part of the KS size specifications because KS sizing systems are complex. So KS sizing systems must be simplified and respecified to understand the KS for mothers easily when purchasing their girl's garments. In summary this paper investigates mother's preference and recognition about KS sizing system for the girl's garments.

  • The purpose of this study is to classify body type by BMI and to inquire about body satisfaction and fitness apparel depending on body type among women 20-50years of age. As a result, body types are classified into three groups: lean, normal, and obese figures. On front silhouette, the normal type occupies most in women belonged to lean figure group, the obese lower part of the bodytype in normal figure group, and the obese upper part of the body type in obese figure group. On the other, in side silhouette, the slender type is prevalent in lean figure group, hip obesity in normal figure group, and trunk obesity in obese figure group. In particular, women in the obese figure group were distributed among the various body types. The obese figure group had a lower fitness apparel in the measurement of circumference(e.g., chest, waist, and hip) related to obesity in comparison with measurement of length. Therefore, the development of an optimal sizing system in response to the various body types in the obese figure group is needed to provide more diversity in aesthetic design and continuity among various sizing systems.

청소년 전기 여학생의 상의 치수 규격에 관한 연구 (The Apparel Sizing System of Early Adolescent Gins - focusing on Upper Garments -)

  • Recently in the apparel industry, early adolescent girls are emerging as a new consumer group. In response to this, companies are developing clothes, cosmetics, underwear, etc. This study proposed a new size range and size interval for early adolescent girls and presented reference measurements for body parts necessary in designing clothes. For this purpose, a total of 529 girls aged between 10 and 14 were measured and data were collected from 42 anthropometric measurements and 41 photographic measurements per a person. SAS 8.1 was used in data analysis including means, standard deviations, frequency analysis. Based on the results, this study proposed: for Type A - 7 sizes (140A-67, 145A-65, 145A-69, 150A-69, 150A-73, 155A-73, 155A-76): for Type X - 7 sizes (150x-72, 155x-72, 155x-77, 160x-77, 160x-80, 165x-77, 165x-80); and for Type H - 8 sizes (145H-74, 145H-82, 150H-78, 150H-82, 155H-82, 155H-86, 160H-86, 160H-88). Reference measurements suggested for upper garments were 9 items. The outcome of this study may be used as a basic material for adolescent apparel manufacturers to set their apparel sizing system and to supply their consumers, namely, adolescent girls with products fitting their somatotype.

청소년기 남학생의 하반신 체형에 따른 하의 치수 규격 연구 (A Study on the Sizing System for Lower Garments according to Lower Body Types of Adolescent Boys)

  • The purpose of this study was specifically focused on the lower garment sizing system of adolescent apparel, especially on trousers for adolescent boys. Research Method was performed by using the physical measurements of adolescent boys ($14\sim19$ years old, n=1,344) based on the 'he fifth Korean national physical standard reports' surveyed by SIZEKOREA. The basic materials for this study are obtained from the observations of physical characteristics and classification of physical figures based on the characteristics from waist down. The results from this study are as follows. 1) according to the analyses of physical changes, most items including height, circumference, length, breadth and depth were increased at the age of $14\sim18$ and gradually reduced at the age of 19. 2) The factors which compose the lower body resulted were appeared that the first factor was vertical factor, the second factor was horizontal factor, the third factor was hip length, and the last factor was buttlock-popliteal length. 3) Formalization of physical figures for adolescent boy's lower body analyzed from factors grouped three types. 4) The basic parts that we used to propose the apparel sizing system distinguished by physical figures were Waist Circumference (Omphalion) (every 3cm regular gap) and Hip Circumference (irregular gap). Physical figures assigned 5 to Type T, and 4 to type M. The reference measurement items were divided into 7 items which are correlated with apparel manufacture.

여중생의 하반신 체형분류에 따른 하의류 치수체계 (Sizing System for the Junior-high School Girls′ Lower Clothes According to the Lower Body type Analysis)

  • Fitness of clothes becomes a major concern in apparel industry. In order to improve clothing fitness, it's very important to suggest a systematical sizing system. The Purpose of this study was to suggest a standard sizing system for junior-high school girls'lower clothes. The subjects were 402 middle-high school girls of 13 to 15 year-old. 4 clusters were categorized by cluster analysis and the sizing system was classified according to four lower body types. The size intervals of waist girth and hip girth were 3cm and 4cm respectively. The most frequent size were 64-86 in the short and small figure type 1,67-90 in the fattest figure type 2, 61-86 in the average size type 3 and 64-90 in type 4 taller than others types. The sizing system, which had frequencies more than 4%, was classified 9 cases, 11 cases, 8 cases and 9 cases respectively by lower body types. This result will contribute to clothing fitness of consumer and the amount of production.

인터넷 패션 쇼핑몰을 위한 의복 치수 적용에 대한 연구 -연령과 체형집단에 따른 신체치수 추정을 중심으로- (The Application of the Apparel Sizing System to be applied for the Internet Shopping Mall - focus on the Presumption of the Body Measurements according to the Age and the Figure groups)

  • This study is aimed at the application of the apparel size system to be applied for the Internet shopping mall in Korea. Especially this is focused on the presumption of the body measurement according to the age groups and the figure groups. In this regard, a sizing system is to be developed that could be used to approach consumers more easily and provide more fitness and accuracy in terms of size. The target study was on a group of women nineteen to forty-nine years of age. The 4th National Anthropometry Survey data were used in the examination. The results in the study are as follows ; (1) On the Internet apparel shopping malls in relation with this study, no matter what size in the ready-to-wear enterprises was selected by the consumers who once put their information in the member registration, the most appropriate sizes for them are automatically given and transferred to the order forms of chosen enterprises with aid of internal programs of the internet webpage. In addition, when consumers enter their body sizes in the units that are familiar to them, such as inches or centimeters, the units are automatically programed so that they can be converted for the sake of convenience. ; (2) To extract an estimation equation of body size through Multiple Regression Analysis, the circumferences of chest and hip could be presumed by stature, weight, and waist circumference of which most consumers were well aware. For more accurate regression equations, groupings were made in the three categories of age(19∼29/30∼39/40∼49) and in the three body types(Type N, A and H). Then, the regression equations were established for three sectors, $\circled1$ 'chest circumference not filled up', $\circled2$ 'hip circumference not filled up' and $\circled3$ 'neither filled up for chest nor for hip circumference'.     • KS K 0051(2009) was established in 1990 and revised in 1994, 1999, 2004 and 2009. Recently the structure of apparel production and distribution are changing like as small quantity batch production, increase of importing abroad apparel and increase of on-line shopping mall. Based on Social and economic conditions, examine the potential for use of KS K 0051(2009) standard sizing system for female adult's garments are needed. Through which, it was intended to suggestion for the revision of standard sizing system for female adult's garments which can facilitate communication among consumer, producer and sellers. The improvement point was discussed through review of the current KS K 0051 (2009) and abroad standard sizing system for female adult's garments, ISO 3637(1977), ISO 4416(1981), BS EN 13402-2(2002), BS EN 13402-3(2004), JIS L 4005(2001) and GB/T 1335.2(2008). Also, the revision of standard sizing system for female adult's garments was suggested using data of 6th Size Korea. As a result of this study, in the revision, formal wear, casual wear, training wear and under wear were separated to simplify the classification and the classification of body type were excluded. Also, it is possible that size designation was simplified through optional notation and letter code based on bust girth could be marked together in casual wear.
