A Study on Heavy Metal Adsorption of the Submicron HAP (초미립 Hydroxy Apatite의 중금속 흡착에 관한 연구)

  • Preparation and heavy metal ion adsorption of sumicron hydroxy apatite were studied in this experiment. Submicron HAP was synthesized with Ca(OH)2 solution and H3PO4.Ca(OH)2 solution was made from water-quenching of CaCO3 heated at 1, 00$0^{\circ}C$ and 20%-H3PO4 was dropped into this Ca(OH)2 solution heated at 8$0^{\circ}C$. XRD pattern of prepared powder showed HAP crystal. The average particle size and sahpe of HAP were 0.25${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and sphere type. As a adsorbent, 1.0g of the prepared HAP powder in 1 liter of artifical 5ppm heavy matal waste water was sufficient, and more effective at pH7-9.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the solubility of the ingredients of the kidney stone in the solution of the traditional oriental medicines. Calcium hydroxide, apatite and uric acid were chosen as the ingredients of the kidney stone. Plantaginis Semen, Lysimachiae Herba, Saururi Herba seu Rhizoma, Imperatae Rhizoma, Allium tuberosum Rottler were studied as the oriental medicines for the kidney stone. Calcium hydroxide had showed the very good solubility in the solution of Imperatae Rhizoma, the apatite had showed the good solubility in the solutions of Saururi Herba seu Rhizoma and Allium tuberosum Rottler. Uric acid had showed the mild solubility in the solution of Lysimachiae Herba and Saururi Herba seu Rhizoma.

  • Apatite-lanthanum silicate has attracted considerable interest in recent years due to its high oxide ion conductivity, In this paper, Bi-doped samples $La_8Bi_2(SiO_4)_6O_3$ were prepared by conventional solid-state method and the influences of Bi-dopant content on calcining temperature were reported. The Samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron micrograph (SEM) and impedance analysis.

  • Objectives: This experimental study has been done to compare the Os Draconis composition before and after using processing method. Os Draconis has a quality for calming the liver meridian function and relaxation the mind. Methods: I studied the Os Draconis and processed Os Draconis by vinegar to compare the compositions and its' character. Results: Os Draconis is not a dinosaur's bone fossil but a mammal's bone fossil which has a Calcite mineral, an Apatite mineral, $SiO_2\;Al_2$ O, etc. Os Draconis contains a main ingredients CaO>50.00%. Processed Os Draconis which is heated and soaked in vinegar changes to weak condition Conclusion: Os Draconis is supposed to be a mammal's bone fossil. Some Os Draconis has a radioactive substance like a U, Th so we pay heed to deal with it in a medical clinic.

Objectives The purpose of this study was to compare in vivo the biocompatibility of new calcium phosphate-based root canal sealers(CAPSEAL I, CAPSEAL II) with another type of commercially available calcium phosphate sealer (Apatite Root Sealer type I, Apatite Root Sealer type II) and zinc oxide-eugenol-based sealer (Pulp Canal Sealer EWT) after implantaion in rat subcutaneous tissue. II. Materials and Methods 64 Sprague-Dawley rats were used. There were five groups of three animals each for experimental period of 1, 2, 4, and 12 weeks. The teflon tubes, 5mm in length with an inner diameter of 1.5mm, were washed with ethanol and distilled weter and autoclaved.(omitted)

Hard Tissue Analysis of NMR after Fluoride Administration

  • Fluoride (F) is an important element for the mineralization of body tissues. The purpose of this study was to administer fluoride prenatally to rats to evaluate its beneficial concentration for rat bone using microstructural analysis, to analyze its effect on the bone structure, and to evaluate the effect of its transfer through rat placenta. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry (NMR) were performed. The $^{19}F$ NMR and $^{31}P$ NMR signals suggested the existence of fluoride ions in the apatite lattice because the signals were caused by the fluoride ions that were coupled to the phosphate atoms and were affected in the phosphate phases other than the element phases in the apatite. Consequently, if it was not affected too much, the desirable concentration of prenatal fluoride treatment could have a helpful effect on the bone crystal structure through placental fluoride transfer.

Electrical Properties of Vanadium-doped Lanthanium Silicates for SOFCs (SOFC 응용을 위한 Vanadium이 첨가된 란타늄 실리케이트의 전기적 특성)

  • In this paper to improve the ionic conduction properties, lanthanum silicate apatite $La_{9.33}(SiO_4)_6O_2$ ceramic, which substituted by V ions at Si-site, were fabricated by the mixed-oxide method. And we investigated the structural and electrical properties of $La_{9.33}(Si_{6-x}V_x)O_{26}$ specimens with variation of dopants for the application of solid oxide fuel cells. The sintering temperature of $La_{9.33}(Si_{6-x}V_x)O_{26}$ specimens decreased from $1,600^{\circ}C$ to $1,400^{\circ}C$. As results of X-ray diffraction patterns, all $La_{9.33}(Si_{6-x}V_x)O_{26}$ specimens showed the formation of a complete solid solution in a apatite polycrystallin structure. But the specimens doped with more than 1.5mol% showed the second phase, $La_2SiO_5$ and $SiO_2$. The specimen dopants with 1.0 mol% showed the maximum ion conductivity. Ion conducting and activation energy of the $La_{9.33}(Si_5V_1)O_26$ specimens were about $7.8{\times}10^{-4}S/cm$ 1.62 eV at $600^{\circ}C$, respectively.
