The purpose of this study is to find out the changes on the metropolitan apartment unit plans based on the interior spaces for women such as master bedroom, bathroom and attached spaces to the master bedroom, living room, diningroom, kitchen, utility room, and balcony. This study used the content analysis method, space syntax. Contents were the floor plans with 3 rooms type and limited to about $105m^2$ among drawings of an apartment encyclopedia. Above all, 174 unit plans were analyzed until now. Specifically, using $S^3$-Convex program, the integration and control value periodically of the interior spaces for women(master bedroom, bathroom and attached spaces to the master bedroom, living room, diningroom, kitchen, utility room) is understood. Second, using SPSS package 16.0, relative size of the interior spaces for women on the unit floor plan is understood periodically. Finally, the changes on the apartment unit plans based on a woman' aspect after 1980's is reanalyzed.

The purpose of this study was to find out the spacial characteristics from the $69.42-11.70m^2$ unit plans of the apartment houses in Jeon-ju city, and to check up on the general spacial principles of Korean apartment unit plans. The content analysis method and the survey method were used for this study. The data of apartment unit plans and the questionnaires were collected from apartment offices or real estate agency offices. The data of 157 unit plans and 190 questionnaires were analyzed. The results of this study were as follows; 1) The general spacial principles of Korean apartment unit plans, the tendency of front 3-bay unit plan, the openness of living room, the Anbang with a bathroom and a dressroom, the utility room as a kitchen support space, and the addition of balconies, were showed in those of Jeon-ju city. 2) There was a new tendency, the front room arrangement of Anbang-living room-bedroom was changed into Anbang-living room-bathroom or kitchen, in them. 3) The characteristics of L-DK floor plans that the closeness of DK from exterior space and the interior openness and exterior privacy of L were showed in them. 4) The entrance was needed a intermediate space as a balcony or a former space, in them. These tendencies on unit plans of the apartment houses in Jeon-ju city were followed the general spacial principles of Korean apartment unit plans.

The purpose of this study was to supply the basic data for the plan of the storage space in the kitchen by investigating the actual condition of the use and residents' satisfaction. The questionnaires were distributed to 136 families of the local apartment in South Chung-Cheong Province of Korea. The results were summarized as follows; first, among the furniture for storage, the upper and lower space have been installed in every furniture. The general tablewares were stored in the upper part of the kitchen and the frequently used goods for cooking were largely stored in the lower part. Second, in the method of reforming the kitchen space, it showed highest figure in case of purchasing the shelf and there were many cases of storing things by using the subsidiary storage furniture and boxes and it came to the conclusion that the housewives have a tendency to solve the storage problem by using the less expensive, simple and passive ways. Third, in the degree of satisfaction for the space for storage, it showed that the respondents were a little bit dissatisfied with the size of storage space, the position of furniture for storage, the convenience for using and the storage rapacity. Among the furniture for storage in the kitchen, the degree of satisfaction for the upper and lower parts was a little bit low, but it is higher for the others. For the plan of storage space, the aesthetic appreciation reflects visually being in order was considered to be the important factor.

With the development of digital technology and the advent of the concept of well-being, kitchen will be worked as the center of housing and turn into multi-functional space. So a research is requested to consider the users' needs for kitchen based on their life characteristics. The purpose of this study is to find out housing lifestyles, and to search and analyze users' needs for kitchen planning according to their lifestyles. And then plans for kitchen design are suggested. The findings are as follows. (1) Housing lifestyles of users living in apartment are categorized into the type of network and trial & development, pursing the new environment and technology, the type of high quality and convenience, seeking the way to make housework easy and comfortable, the type of housework oriented and the type of unspecification. (2) The type of network and trial & development requests home automation, confrontation layout of counter-top, the type of high quality and convenience requests enlargement of kitchen space, the newest appliance and kitchen island, the type of housework oriented requests the efficiency of space utilization with a counter-top style table, and the type of unspecification asks space for study and office work. All of the types have needs for water use space, larger storing space and a Kimchi refrigerator.

The purpose of this study was to suggest optimum guidelines apartment rooms by conducing survey among residence whose apartment floor size is between $66-198m^2$ and whose apartment is less than 3 years old. The effective numbers of survey questionnaire turned in was 226 and the survey analysis has been made by using of SPSS WIN 12.0. The results and conclusion of the studies are as follows; (1) $66{\sim}98m^2$ : The recommended numbers of bedroom is 2 and 3. The size of maser bedroom needs to be decreased whereas the size of living room be increased. (2) $99-131m^2$: The recommended numbers of bedroom is 3 and 4. The size of maser bedroom and maser bathroom needs to be decreased whereas the size of living room, 2nd bedroom, kitchen and dining room needs to be increased. (3) $132-164m^2$: The recommended numbers of bedroom is 3 and 4. The size of maser bedroom and bathroom needs to be decreased whereas the size of dress room, kitchen and dining room, and 2nd bedroom needs to be increased. (4) $165-197m^2$: The recommended numbers of bedroom is 3 and 4. The size of maser bedroom and maser bathroom needs to be decreased and the size of dressroom and kitchen /dinning room needs to be increased. (5) $198m^2$ and above: the recommended numbers of bedroom is 3,4 and 5. The size of dressroom needs to be increased. It is revealed that the number of bedroom doesn't need to be increased as the size of apartment is increased. Larger space is required for the public space for the family and dressroom. And smaller space is required for the maser bedroom and master bathroom.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the tendency of the current diversified apartment planning. This study was examined by 13 newspapers from January 1th 1995 to 30th 1997. The major findings in this study were summarized as follows: 1. The strategy of major apartment construction co. was diversified into space planning interior image facilities and utilities and outdoor space design. 2. The trend of space planning was diversified into apartment for 3 generation apartment with its own inside gardeen apartment with kitchen facing south multi-story apartment, apartment with round shape room irregular shaped apartment 3. The trend of interior image was diversified into Korean style natural style casual elegantstyle modern style and classical style.

As a rapid supply of a culture facility the change of living style bring on needs about storage space in the residence space. This study choose Hong Je Dong-Byuk San 4 type apartment house which was built in 1990 as research target and we selected 4type of a total 12house and we choose LDK as a research target that is high in a requirement and utilization other space is excluded in this study. We can expect that the apartment house will be differed with area of living space of apartment house in the requirement of storage space. Small apartment house is requried various storage planning because of confined living space But big apartment houses required storage planning of simple type because it have already storage space. So we have to do efficiency storage planning because of limited space in the apartment house. Base on this results we will show storage space according to the type of pyeong. So this study show proper storage type according to the scale of apartment house,.

Kitchen hood was used exhausting contaminants and heat during cook. But many people do not use it easily because of the noise. Therefore this study was measured the noise when kitchen hood was working according to air flow mode. Because there are no measuring and analyzing standards in the setting house, it was referred to KS C 9304(Korean Standard). The result was shown the higher sound level than 45dB. Also it was compared the air flow that measured in the house and specified the brochure during the operation of the hood.

There have been many cases when an air curtain installed in the apartment could not remove the gases well, such as carbon dioxide and particles like as smoke, oils, and vapors generated during cooking to disperse pollutants into the room. This study used a numerical analysis to show how the pollutant-removing performance of the range hood is changed when the air curtain is installed front of the kitchen table. The result of this study was that when the air amount supplied by an air curtain through the slot was about 50% of the exhaust amount, the capturing efficiency of the range hood for pollutants increased 90% more than without an air curtain. Even when the amount of supplied air was small, the capturing efficiency improved markedly with the use of an upward air curtain. In case that the air flow rate of the slot was greater than 60%, the capturing efficiency decreased.

The purpose of this study is to analyze patterns of space use and housing preferences to be used in the housing plan for students. Data was collected through questionnaire surveys from local university students living apart from their family. We collected 272 samples and analyzed them using SPSSwin program. The results are as follows; 1) The average hours of staying at the housing for student are 5 hours and 30 minutes(except sleeping time). Most of the time was used for ‘hobby’ and ‘study\ulcorner computer works’. The most of the students had ‘a meal per day’ at their housing. 2) The most preferred housing type by the students is ‘studio apartment’ and the next preferred is ‘apartment’. The highly demanded facility is ‘laundry’ and the next comes ‘kitchen’. 3) Those who spend more time in their housing than average show higher demand in ‘kitchen’ and ‘balcony’. Those who spend less time in their housing show higher demand in ‘storage’.
