  • After a short description of the observatory, this presentation will highlight some of the most recent scientific achievements based on CFHT observations and how they benefit from the current instrumentation and novel observing modes proposed to the CFHT users. We will then move to the mid-term future with the development of new spectroscopic capabilities (visible wide-field FTS or near-IR spectro-polarimetry) and the study of a novel wide-field imager in the visible using Ground-Layer AO to provide unprecedented image quality on a large field of view. As an option for the long-term future, the concept of a next generation 10-m class telescope to replace the current CFHT 3.6-m will be described. An emphasis will be given on how CFHT is slowly morphing into an Asia-Pacific Rim observatory and on the role the Korean community could play in such an endeavor, from immediate access to first-class astronomical data to partnering with other nations in exciting developments.

  • This study was the designed to measure skin irritation caused by clothing at free foraldehde have caused a substantial number of cases of dermatitis type. Free formaldehyde levels were observed in infant's sanitatized goods9disposable diapers, cotton-diapers and under wear etc.) at 1992, 1994. The amount of free formaldehyde was measured by means of Acetyle Acetone method(KS K 0611). As the resort, underwear generally gave the highest free formaldehyde level, but disposable diapers and cotton diapers showed the lowest level. The formaldehyde level in intan's clothing lowered in 1994 than 1992, after the enforcement of the level in intant's clothing lowered in 1994 than 1992, after the enforcement of the formaldehyde level control. it was found that 38.7% of infant's sanitatized goods still exceeded th controlled level(A-Ao : 0.05) In the future, research to lower the amount of formaldehyde released form fabrics will also lead to decreased incidence of garment formaldehyde sensitivity. The possibility of a consumer suffering is being in convenienced form a textile-related skin problem will be even lower than it has been in the past.

  • In this paper, I propose a method which can enhance the visual quality of IRST images based on a loaded location in ship and an AOS. The IRST adjusts an AOS to detect targets with various altitudes because of its narrow vertical field of view and offers various functions to enhance images with its low contrast. In the proposed method, images are divided into two regions of sea and sky on the basis of the horizon after establishing relation between an AOS and a horizon location within an image. As a result, image enhancement of the proposed method is performed adaptively according to the divided region while that of conventional method is performed for entire image without the region division. Simulation results show that the proposed method represents higher visibility compared with conventional one.

  • Confocal scanning microscopy (CSM) has an important role as the three-dimensional profiler. An image distribution can be reconstructed by a correlation analysis of spots with the bandwidth of radio frequency. But it is a serious problem for the high performance to align the optical components. Especially, the parasitic motion of focus on the detector gives rise to the fatal distortion of an image profile named the extinction effect while using acousto-optical(AO) deflector. An image profile can be regenerated in CSM with many advantages of non-contact, high speed and high resolution comparatively. In addition to the axial response of the primary focus, the lateral movement of it gives a necessity of the unitary lens to the scanning system. While using the beam deflector, the pupil of beam may be fixed at the nominal position. Furthermore, the use of a deflector may result in ...

  • Identification theory for linear discrete system has been presented by a great many reference, but research works for identification of continuous-time system are less than preceding identification. In fact, a great man), systems for engineering are continuous-time systems, hence, research for identification of continuous-time system has important meaning. This paper offers the following results: 1. Corresponding relations for the parameters of continuous-time model and discrete model may be shown, when single input-output system has general characteristic roots. 2. To do identification of single variable continuity linear system with stability constraints from samples of input-output data, it is necessary to use optimization with stability constraints. 3. Main results of this paper may be explained by a simple example.

  • The effects of oligosaccharide supplementation on the growth performance, flock uniformity and GIT development of broiler chickens were investigated. Four diets, one negative control, one positive control supplemented with zinc-bacitracin, and two test diets supplemented with mannoligosaccharide (MOS) and fructooligosaccharide (FOS), were used for the experiment. Birds given MOS or FOS had improved body weight (BW) and feed efficiency (FCR), compared to those fed the negative control diet during the 35-d trial period. The effect on FCR became less apparent when the birds got older. FOS and MOS supplementation reduced the pancreas weight as a percentage of BW, with an effect similar to that of the antibiotic, at 35 d of age. Birds given MOS tended to have a heavier bursa (p = 0.164) and lower spleen/bursa weight ratio (p = 0.102) at 35 d of age. MOS and Zn-bacitracin showed a clear improvement on flock uniformity, compared to FOS. The mortality rate was not affected by FOS or MOS.

  • One of the important considerations in designing a machine tool is the durability. In this study, a durability estimation system for horizontal machining centers is developed to evaluate the effects of structural specification and driving condi-tions on the durability. All loads such as weights, inertial forces, cutting force and so on, are automatically transferred from the upper elements to the lower elements by the force flows which can be derived from the structural code of horizontal machining centers. And the external loads applied to the motion elements such as bearings, LM guides, ball screws and ao on, are determined by the equilibrium conditions of force and moment. Especially, the durability of horizontal machining centers is estimated based on the lifes of motion elements operating under the desired driving conditions.

  • It is needless to say that the hemodynamic variables estimation is a very important study or the artificial heart. Even though its importance there have not been satisfactory results which can be applied to the real-world situations. In this paper, we propose a practical afterload model ( AoP, PAP) which can be applied to the real-world situation.

  • This paper introduces a data storage transport protocol internet Advanced Technology Attachment (iATA) for ATA storage devices that can be accessed over (TCP/IP) networks. As the access speed of Advanced Technology Attachment (ATA) type storage is increasing, the importance of sharing the ATA type storages over internet is also increasing. We are proposing a protocol in which we have implemented the basic ATA command set to access the ATA type remote storage devices over the TCP/IP networks. In this paper, we give basic details of the protocol and discuss the existing storage protocols which are mainly used for accessing block storage like internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI) Hyper Small Computer System Interface (HyperSCSI) and ATA over Ethernet (AoE).

  • Confocal scanning microscopy (CSM) is an important instrument in a wide variety of imaging applications because of its ability to provide three-dimensional images of thick, volume specimens. The mechanism for two-dimensional beam scanning and optical sectioning has an important roe in CSM as the three-dimensional profiler. This optical sectioning property arises from the use of a point detector, which serves to attenuate the signals from out-of-focus. The intensity profile for the open loop scanning should be matched with its response for the standard. The non-linearity can be minimized with the optical sectioning or the optical probe of the closed loop control. This paper shows the mathematical expression of the light such as the extinction curve in the optical fields of system using AO deflector, the axial/lateral response experimentally when the error sources change, and the methods of optical sectioning. Thorough design of optical sectioner is crucial to the success of CSM in the field ...
