Grinding Method for Increasing Specific Surface Area of Fluidized Bed Fly Ash

  • In this study, fly ash of a fluidized bed boiler produced in a power plant was stabilized by hydration and carbonation reaction. Then, each raw material was pulverized by two kinds of grinding equipment (Planetary mills and pot mills); the degree of grinding and the agglomeration behavior were observed. It was found that there were changes of specific surface area and particle size distribution according to grinding time. The surface of the raw material was observed using an optical microscope. As a result, agglomerates of about 75 ㎛ or more due to electrostatic phenomenon were formed as the grinding time became longer; it was confirmed that the crushing efficiency slightly increased with use of antistatic agent.

Functional and Physical Properties of Weft Knit with Silver Slit Yarn (은 슬릿사 위편성물의 물성 및 기능성)

  • In this paper, silver slit yarns combined with cotton yarns were used to produce weft knits. The purpose of this study was to investigate the physical properties as well as the functional properties of weft knit with silver slit yarns. The six different weft knit fabrics were made from silver slit yarns varying knit structure and fabric density. One cotton weft knit was also knitted to compare the properties. Weft knits made from silver slit yarns were characterized by excellent antibacterial properties, electric magnetic shielding properties, UV-cut properties, anti-static properties, and air permeability. Although there were significant differences in the physical properties of different knit structure and the fabric density, weft knits with silver slit yarns were seen to have better end use properties and ideal for apparel than the cotton weft knits.

  • 현재 사용하고 있는 디스플레이 장치에는 표면에 무반사(antireflection), 무정전(antistatic) 코팅이 되어 있다. 이것은 전기적으로 음극선관(CRT)에서 발생되는 전자에 의해 표면에 생기는 전하의 적층을 제거하여 정전기를 방지하고 인체에 유해한 전자기파를 차단하는 무정전 기능과, 광학적으로 디스플레이 장치 표면에서 외부의 조명등과 같은 빛의 반사를 줄여 내부에서 나오는 정보(빛)가 보다 더 눈에 선명하게 들어오도록 해준다. 무반사 무정전 코팅의 투과 전도층으로는 비저항값이 낮고 가시광선 영역에서 굴절률이 높고 흡수가 적어 투과율이 높은 indium tin oxide(ITO)가 널리 연구, 사용되어 왔다. 이러한 ITO 박막 대신에 TiN 박막을 사용하여 그 위에 유전체층을 증착하여 단 2층으로 무반사 무정전 코팅을 제작 할 수 있다. TiN 박막은 절삭공구 등의 표면에 마모방지용 코팅재료로서 사용되고 있고, 부착력이 우수하며 화학적 안정성이 뛰어나 수명이 긴 박막을 제작 할 수 있는 장점을 가지고 있다. 또한 가시광선 영역에서 흡수로 인해 투과율이 ITO에 비해 상대적으로 낮지만 이점이 오히려 명도대비(contrast)의 향상을 가져온다. (중략)

Preparation and Characterization of Durable Softeners for Acrylic Fiber (아크릴 섬유용 내구성 유연제의 제조 및 유연특성)

  • In order to prepare a softener, alkyl imidazoline salt, fatty carbamide salt, and fatty polyamide salt were synthesized first, and then the synthesized salts were blended. The prepared softeners were applied to acrylic fibers, and then several properties were tested. As a result, the prepared softeners show good softening and lubricating properties, and they also show a little antistatic property. Through bending resistance tests and measurements of feeling change of acrylic fibers treated with the softeners, it was proved that the prepared softeners are durable softeners.

  • Nanocomposite resin(PUD-CNT) composed of Carbon nanotube(CNT) and Polyurethane Dispersion (PUD) was prepared by different contents of CNT($0{\sim}5%$). PUD-CNT was coated on samples, and their electrical conductivity was investigated. With increasing CNT content, static change, half life and surface resistance decreased. Composites having 5% CNT showed $10^9{\Omega}/cm$(surface resistance), and 40V (stactic charge). Respectively, From this results, PUD-CNT can be used as a antistatic material.

  • The electrical breakdown characteristics of the synthetic fluids No.2 of KS class VII used for insulating and cooling the materials for the ignition coil are studied. Also, Benzotriazole(BTA) as the streaming electrification suppressant additive is added to the oil, and the change of electrical properties due to different BTA concentration is investigated. To investigate the electrical characteristics, the breakdown strength of each specimen by an experiment for AC breakdown are analyzed. The breakdown strength of specimen by adding BTA is higher than virgin specimen in low e region, but lower than that in high region because of melting BTA. It is considered that the effective content of BTA as charge suppressant additive is about 10[ppm] from the results of AC breakdown.

  • To prepare a O/W type durable softner(OESA), octadecamidoethylaminoethyl dodecate and tetra (2-dodecamidoethyl) urea synthesized as the main components of softner, were blended with polyoxyethylene(20) oleyl ether, sorbitan sesquioleate, and polyoxyethylene(7) stearyl ether in various compositions. Emulsion stability of OESA was good, and mixed HLB value was 9.7, OESA was found was to be good durable softner for nylon through the examination of softness, lubriation, antistatic property, bending resistance, and color fastness.

  • The radiation-induced graft polymerization of acrylic acid onto polyester fabric was investigated with accelerated electron beams as ratiation source at high dose rates. Homopolymerization was suppressed by addition of cations which is known as homopolymerization inhibitor, but this practical advantage was obtained at the expense of grafting efficiency. The rate of grafting (%/sec) was proportional to the 0.82th power of dose rates over the range from 1.6$\times$10$^{6}$ to 10$\times$10$^{6}$ rad/sec. The grafted polyester fabric showed considerable improvement in moisture regain and antistatic properties.

  • The technology for neutralizing static electricity by soft X-ray radiation has been newly developed. This technology involves ionization of gas molecules in the vicinity of a charged substrate to generate ions and electrons to reduce electrostatic potential. The ULSI device substrate and liquid crystal display substrate tend to get charged instantly to a high potential level when they are handled in the manufacturing process. Soft X-ray radiation is adequate in air or $O_2$ gas at atmospheric pressure. This newly developed neutralization method is effective to be superior to the conventional technique, i.e., an ionizer by using corona discharge ,in every aspect. The new method features excellent neutralization capability and is able to completely reduce electrostatic potential to 0 V within a short time. Moreover, this is a very clean antistatic technology free from particle generation ,ozone generation, and electromagnetic noise, which are problems in using the corona discharge ionizer.
