Windows Event Log is a format that records system log in Windows operating system and methodically manages information about system operation. An event can be caused by system itself or by user's specific actions, and some event logs can be used for corporate security audits, malware detection and so on. In this paper, we choose actions related to corporate security audit and malware detection (External storage connection, Application install, Shared folder usage, Printer usage, Remote connection/disconnection, File/Registry manipulation, Process creation, DNS query, Windows service, PC startup/shutdown, Log on/off, Power saving mode, Network connection/disconnection, Event log deletion and System time change), which can be detected through event log analysis and classify event IDs that occur in each situation. Also, the existing event log tools only include functions related to the EVTX file parse and it is difficult to track user's behavior when used in a forensic investigation. So we implemented new analysis tool in this study which parses EVTX files and user behaviors.

As web pages provide various services, the distribution of malware via the web pages is being also increased. Malware can make personal information leak, system mal-function and system be zombie. To protect this damages, we should block the malicious web pages. Because the malicious codes embedded in web pages are obfuscated or transformed, it is difficult to detect them using signature-based approaches which are used by current anti-virus software. To overcome this problem, we extracted features to classify malicious web pages and benign ones by analyzing web pages. And we propose a classification method using SVM which is widely used in machine learning. Experimental results show that the proposed method is better than other methods. The proposed method could classify malicious web pages correctly and be helpful to block the distribution of malicious codes.

Recently, there have been many reports of document-type malicious code injecting malicious code into Microsoft Office files. Document-type malicious code is often hidden by encoding the malicious code in the document. Therefore, document-type malware can easily bypass anti-virus programs. We found that malicious code was inserted into the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) macro, a function supported by Microsoft Office. Malicious codes such as shellcodes that run external programs and URL-related codes that download files from external URLs were identified. We selected 354 keywords repeatedly appearing in malicious Microsoft Office files and defined the number of times each keyword appears in the body of the document as a feature. We performed machine learning with SVM, naïve Bayes, logistic regression, and random forest algorithms. As a result, each algorithm showed accuracies of 0.994, 0.659, 0.995, and 0.998, respectively.
Pin is a framework that creates dynamic program analysis tools and can be used to perform program analysis on user space in Linux and Windows. It is hard to analyze the program such as Anti-reversing program or malware using anti-debugging by Pin. In this paper, we will suggest the implementation of scheme bypassing anti-debugging with Pin. Each pin code is written to bypass anti-debugging detecting Pin. And Pin creates a pin tool combined with Pin codes that bypass anti-debugging methods. The pin tool are tested with files created by anti-debugging protector. The technique in the paper is expected to be a reference of code bypassing anti-debugging and be applied to bypass newly discovered anti-debugging through code modification in the future.
Entering the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution and the Internet of Things, various services are growing rapidly, and various researches are actively underway. Among them, research on abnormal behaviors on various devices that are being used in the IoT is being conducted. In a hyper-connected society, the damage caused by one wrong device can have a serious impact on the various connected systems. In this paper, We propose a technique to cope with the problem that the threats caused by various abnormal behaviors such as anti-debugging scheme, anomalous process detection method and back door detection method on how to increase the safety of the device and how to use the device and service safely in such IoT environment.
With the explosive growth of smart phones and efficiency, the Android of an open mobile operating system is gradually increasing in the use and the availability. Android systems has proven its availability and stability in the mobile devices, the home appliances's operating systems, the IoT products, and the mechatronics. However, as the usability increases, the malicious code based on Android also increases exponentially. Unlike ordinary PCs, if malicious codes are infiltrated into mobile products, mobile devices can not be used as a lock and can be leaked a large number of personal contacts, and can be lead to unnecessary billing, and can be cause a huge loss of financial services. Therefore, we proposed a method to detect and delete malicious files in real time in order to solve this problem. In this paper, we also designed a method to detect and delete malicious codes in a more effective manner through the process of installing Android-based applications and signature-based malicious code detection method. The method we proposed and designed can effectively detect malicious code in a limited resource environment, such as mobile environments.
In modern networks, data rate is getting faster and transferred data is extremely increased. At this point, the malicious codes are evolving to various types very fast, and the frequency of occurring new malicious code is very short. So, it is hard to collect/analyze data using general networks with the techniques like traditional intrusion detection or anormaly detection. In this paper, we collect and analyze the data more effectively with cloud environment than general simple networks. Also we analyze the malicious code which is similar to real network's malware, using botnet server/client includes DNS Spoofing attack.

DEX file and share objects (also known as the SO file) are important components that define the behaviors of an Android application. DEX file is implemented in Java code, whereas SO file under ELF file format is implemented in native code(C/C++). The two layers - Java and native can communicate with each other at runtime. Malicious applications have become more and more prevalent in mobile world, they are equipped with different evasion techniques to avoid being detected by anti-malware product. To avoid static analysis, some applications may perform malicious behavior in native code that is difficult to analyze. Existing researches fail to extract the call relationship which includes both Java code and native code, or can not analyze multi-DEX application. In this study, we design and implement a system that effectively extracts the call relationship between Java code and native code by analyzing DEX file and SO file of Android application.

The emergence of new technologies and devices brings a new environment in the field of cyber security. It is not easy to predict possible security threats about new environment every time without special criteria. In other words, most malicious codes often reuse malicious code that has occurred in the past, such as bypassing detection from anti-virus or including additional functions. Therefore, we are predicting the security threats that can arise in a new environment based on the history of repeated malicious code. In this paper, we classify and define not only the internal information obtained from malicious code analysis but also the features that occur during infection and attack. We propose a method to predict and manage security threats in new environment by continuously managing and extending.
Alternate Data Streams (ADS) in NTFS originally has developed to provide compatibility with Macintosh Hierarchical File System. However, it is being used by the malware writers in order to support hiding malwares or data for the purpose of anti-forensics. Therefore identifying if hidden ADSs exist and extracting them became one of the most important component in computer forensics. This paper proposes a method to detect ADSs using MFT information. Experiment reveals that proposed method is better in performance and detection rate then others. This method supports not only identification of ADSs which are being used by the operating systems but also investigation of both live systems and evidence images. Therefore it is appropriate for using forensic purpose.
