정궤환을 이용한 무효전력 변동기반의 단독운전 방지 성능 검증 (Performance Verification of Anti-Islanding of Reactive Power Variation Method using Positive Feedback)

  • This study proposed a reactive power variation (RPV) method equipped with positive feedback (PF) for detecting the islanding operation of distributed generation systems. The proposed RPV consists of the constant reactive power component and a certain reactive power term and uses the frequency deviation between the rated and the measured frequencies. The constant reactive power is injected from distributed generation system and power factor is to 0.9975 in grid-connected operation. PF is activated from generation of the frequency deviation and the injected reactive power is continuously increased due to PF when islanding occurs. Consequently, the increasing reactive power causes the point of common coupling frequency to deviate from the maximum/minimum threshold level. Performance of the proposed RPV is verified in a 1.7 kW T-type inverter, and the detection times are 53 and 150 ms.

  • Among the main functions of the grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) system, the anti-islanding operation function is a very important problem. Recently, due to the improvement in power generation efficiency and the maintenance advantages in PV system, the use of string inverter has increased so that the possibility of islanding operation has been raised. Generally, when a power system faults, the PV inverter must be disconnected from power system within 10 cycles by the anti-islanding operation function. However, in the real-time of power system, the output power of the PV system within 10cycles is effected. In this paper, we analyzed the effect of grid-connected PV system on power quality in a short time within 10 cycles on fault case of power system using the Matlab Simulink program.

  • This paper proposes a novel active frequency drift (AFD) method for the islanding prevention of grid-connected photovoltaic inverter. To detect the islanding phenomenon of grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) inverters concerning about the safety hazards and the damage to other electric equipments, many kinds of anti-islanding methods have been presented. Among them, AFD method using chopping fraction enables the islanding detection to drift up (or down) the frequency of the voltage during the islanding situation. In this paper, injecting the periodic zero current into the basic AFD method is proposed. This proposed method shows the analytical design value of cf to meet the test procedure of IEEE Std. 1547 with various load conditions. Detection of islanding is verified using simulation tool PSIM.

  • This paper proposes a novel active frequency drift(AFD) method for the islanding prevention of grid-connected photovoltaic inverter. To detect the islanding phenomenon of grid-connected photovoltaic(PV) inverters concerning about the safety hazards and the damage to other electric equipments, many kinds of anti-islanding methods have been presented. Among them, AFD method using chopping fraction(cf) enables the islanding detection to drift up(or down) the frequency of the voltage during the islanding situation. However, the performance of the conventional AFD methods, which have a certain value of cf only, is inefficient and difficult to design the appropriate cf value analytically to meet the limit of harmonics. In this paper, the periodic chopping fraction based on an AFD method is proposed. This proposed method shows the analytical design value of cf to meet the test procedure of IEEE Std. 929-2000 with the power quality and islanding detection time. To verify the validation of the proposed method, the islanding test results are presented. It is confirmed that the proposed method has not only less harmonic distortion but also good performance of islanding detection compare with the conventional AFD method.

  • Islanding of PV systems occurs when the uitilty grid is removed but local sources continue to operate and provide power to local loads. Islanding Is one of the serious problems in an electric power system connected with dispersed power sources. Also, this scan present safety hazards and the possibility of damage to other electric equipments. If the real and reactive power of RLC load and PV system are closely matched, islanding phenomena can't be detected by the passive methods. Several active methods were proposed to detect islanding phenomena. The most effective method is SFS method which was suggested by Sandia National Laboratory. In this paper, a new anti-islanding algorithm is proposed and its validity is verified through simulation and experimental results for utility interconnection of PV system.

Islanding of PV systems can cause a variety of problems and must be prevented. However, if the real and reactive powers of the load and PV system are closely matched, islanding detection by passive methods becomes difficult. Also, most active methods lose effectiveness when there are several PV systems feeding the same island. The active frequency drift positive feedback method(AFDPF) enables islanding detection by forcing the frequency of the voltage in the island to drift up or down. In this paper the research for the minimum value of chopping fraction gain applied digital phase-locked-loop (DPLL) to AFDPF considering output power quality and islanding prevention performance are performed by simulation and experiment according to IEEE Std 929-2000 islanding test.

  • A grid-connected inverter with critical loads uses mode transfer control to supply stable voltage to the load. An islanding detection method should also be used to quickly detect the grid fault and disconnect the inverter from the grid. However using the existing islanding detection method to detect islanding is difficult due to the small fluctuation of the voltage and frequency of the point of common coupling. This study proposes a reactive power P&O islanding detection method by using the positive feedback technique. The proposed method always injects a small variation of reactive power. When a grid fault occurs, the injected reactive power accelerates the reactive power injection reference. As a result, the reactive power reference value and the sensed reactive power become mismatched, and islanding is detected. Reducing the amount of real-time injected reactive power results in high efficiency and power factor. The simulation and experimental results of a 3 kW single-phase inverter are provided to verify the proposed islanding detection method.

  • This paper proposes the optimal design method based on NDZ analysis to secure the islanding defection ability and to maintain the stability and power quality when the grid is connected. A PSiM-based model and analysis of the system is presented, specialty aimed at improving the effectiveness of phase shift anti-islanding method with frequency feedback, which causes the inverter current to be generated slightly lower or higher in frequency than the frequency of the terminal voltage. The proposed method can cause frequency jump with leading and lagging phase of output current in two line cycles. As a result, the proposed algorithm is more sensitive and reliable than the conventional phase shift method. Experimental results, on a 3 kW inverter connected to 220 V, 60 Hz utility, are discussed.
